Very cute kitschy lil gift shop! They have all sorts of adorable lil knick knacks. Just a bummer they won’t let you take pictures in there or bring in outside food and drinks. I wandered into their Christmas ornament section, and I was happy to find a German Shepherd Dog and Rottweiler stocking ornaments(in honor of my beloved boys), yay! They didn’t have any Goldies, Labs or Chihuahuas — otherwise, I would have gotten those. Though, they did carry a lot of Westies and Corgis. This place is definitely a store to hit up! Both employees worked the cashier booth and are friendly. I also dig Warmth Heart(cool household knick knacks) across the street from them, but I ran out of time and had to get back on the bus.

This place is on my list of must stops in Julian! I always love coming here in early November to do a little bit of Christmas shopping! You can always find unique and interesting gifts for friends and family! They have fun toys, Christmas ornaments, hot sauce, clothes, and the usual and unusual gift stuff! Great place to find stuff for people who are hard to shop for or has everything they need! Just the other day I bought an awesome t shirt for my dad for his birthday! I know he’ll love it and it’s one of a kind!

The family and I recently spent the day in Julian and surrounding areas. We had no particular plan for the day, so I was prepared for anything! Snacks — check!, water — check!, coat– check!, hiking boots — check! — gloves — oh crap! Being that I am cold ALL the time, being gloveless was not an ideal situation, so I ran into the first store I saw in order to find some. That store was Julian Collectibles and Gifts which, in addition to a fine selection of gloves, had a plethora of fun things to peruse. It really is a cute shop filled with great things. They even have an entire section devoted to puzzles and games as well as a whole room filled with Christmas ornaments. For the record, I didn’t notice any of the signs that some other reviewers are whining about. I’m not saying that they weren’t there, but they certainly weren’t glaringly obvious or intrusive(FYI– a sign telling you to mind yourself and your kids is not going to ruin your day. Get over it.) What really sets this place apart and earns them five stars is the lady who was at the register — I am assuming that she is the owner. Besides being friendly, she is honest as well. The gloves I selected had a $ 4.99 price tag on them, but the owner informed me that they should have been marked $ 2.99 and rang me up for the lower price. Now I know that $ 2 isn’t a huge deal, but she could have gotten greedy and taken the opportunity to overcharge me — I was willing to pay the $ 4.99 after all — but she didn’t. It’s nice to know that there are businesses with integrity and that value all customers, even the ones who are just popping in for a pair of gloves. Next time I am in town, Julian Collectibles and Gifts will be my first stop.

One of my favorite stores to browse while in Julian. Why would someone really want to take photographs in a store anyway? Lots of fun things to look at and a nice collection of salt & pepper shakers up front. Just a fun store to visit, like most other stores in Julian. LOVE the bookstore just a block up the road. I find all the one and two star reviews here are lame and I don’t understand why they trash the store. It’s a fun store, and unless you’re looking for something wrong with it, your visit should be enjoyable. Give it a chance and take it for what it is worth. A fun store to spend a little time in and looking at the kitschy array of collectables. Who knows, you may even find something to buy and bring home. I can’t think of one time I have walked out of there empty handed. ENJOY! Linda M in San Diego

we are locals but visited the Old Julian Garage. I was completely turned off by the dozens of DONOTTOUCH signs, or NOPHOTOGRAPHY signs. If something was sitting still, there was a sign on it. I did however buy some hot sauce, that said it was ‘Ghost Pepper’ hot sauce. The lady told me that there was a hotter Ghost Pepper sauce for 9 dollars more. I bought it, thinking she was honest. It was a gift for hub. He said it wasn’t hot at all, and upon researching it, there was no ghost pepper in it. No refunds either, so I’m stuck with it. won’t be back

Housed in the old Julian Garage Building(constructed 1917) on the main street of Julian is a store with a good selection of games and puzzles. They also carry an assortment of tourist items and a pretty good collection of John Deere theme decorations. They also have Christmas decorations, hats, etc. I was in Julian two years ago and visited the same store. The store does not seem to have as much of a selection as before but some nice things.

My husband and I spent the day in Julian to shop, have lunch and gather details for a romance novel I am writing. We went to the Old Julian Garage and noticed signs posted that no phtography was allowed. It was strange because the place is old, dirty ans smells bad – who’d want a picture of that? Nasty signs were posted on the candy machines telling people not to play with them unless you putmoney in them. Obviously the person running the store was bitter about something. I was going to pay $ 7 for a deck of cards – to much but I didn’t care. Then my husband saw a $ 46 hat he liked. I told him to buy it but he said he didn’t have enough cash on him after buying lunch and a tank of gas. I told him I’d pitch in and put the cards back on the rack. After I did this, I wrote a few items in my notebook like the painted ponies and belt buckles for the general store in my novel. A lady came up and rudely told me that they don’t allow people to write down the name brands of their stuff. Why? Like anyone would want to copy them? The merchandise was dusty and looked as if it had been there for years. On my way out, I told her I don’t shop in places where I’m treated rudely and she said, «You weren’t going to buy nothin’ anyway.» Now she can read minds! This experience soured my feelings about Julian and we didn’t feel welcome in other stores. We bought pie and went home, unlikely to ever return. Shop owners are friendlier in Escondido.

Bunch of antiques, unique items, games, puzzles, souvenirs. Nice to browse, but nothing I would buy.
