Mountain High Bed & Breakfast

Simple, affordable accommodations in a BEAUTIFUL landscape. Cottage is nothing fancy but me and my partner did not mind. Owners Scott and Beverly were more than hospitable, served an amazingly delicious home-​made french toast with fresh apple compote and fresh-​squezed juice in the morning, great coffee in the room, wood-​burning fireplace, cozy bed. We had the BEST experience (thanks Scott!) being given a «tour of the universe» by Scott via his amazing backyard observatory. Scott NOT an amateur astronomer, but rather a TRULY knowledgeable astronomist with a genuine love of the night-​time sky. We LEARNED about the solar system and viewed some AMAZING things (like conjoined stars and other galaxies) thanks to him. If you go for the star-​gazing, BEST to go on a new moon, just FYI. The moon was almost full on our visit so the glare from it was a bit intrusive on the gazing, but still totally worth the trip.

I am in total agreement with the other two reviewers — the B&B is a wonderful, relaxing getaway. But I’ll also add how generous and thoughtful the owners, Scott and Martha are. They went above and beyond anything we could have even thought to ask about.
I cannot recommend Mountain High enough!

This mountain hideaway is fantastic. Another couple, my husband and I got to sneak in a little weekend away and were lucky to be able to stay here!
Our room was attached to the house, though we didn’t realize it until we were just about to leave– it’s very private with its own little patio for birdwatching. The other couple stayed in the Rose Cottage, which is ADORABLE. I wanted to haul it back to LA and live in it, it was so cute.
Gorgeous grounds, an inviting hot tub, delicious breakfasts and fantastic hosts… I could go on and on! The hosts’ little dog, Dragon, was a welcome friend in the mornings and, just like the hosts, he’s great to socialize with yet has a sixth sense for knowing when you want to be alone. The mark of a truly great B&B!

so, it was the husband’s birthday, and we needed a nice getaway… enter Mountain High B&B!
our only regret about Mountain High B&B is that we stayed for just one night. Scott & Martha have a lovely property just a stone’s throw from Julian that boasts gorgeous flowers, sunsets, and lots of friendly creatures. bird-​watching in the morning while eating the delicious breakfast served in-​room was a luxurious joy. Scott has built a small observatory, and his excellent «sky tour» was a lot of fun. we also loved being able to enjoy the moon while soaking in the outdoor, covered hot tub.
prices are very reasonable, and if you’re there to celebrate a special occasion, they’ll even home-​bake you a cake for free! with room for only two sets of guests, you’ll feel truly away-​from-​it-​all. let’s just say it was a very successful birthday trip — and we can’t wait to go back!
