Quick meal before heading home and we were so disappointed. First of all the girl at the cashier didn’t seem like she wanted to be at work and it looked like she just rolled out of bed. But hey the best Mexican places are either in a sketchy location or have some crazy looking employees so we decided to take a chance. We are from LA so we know good Mexican food so our expectations were not very high because we are in Maui but we also didn’t expect for the«cook» to be throwing every single plate into the microwave nothing was fresh my beans were burnt and meat was very dry from being in the microwave. The whole time all I heard was the microwave door opening and closing and it wasn’t just our meal it was every single persons meal that came in and there was probably 4 other orders filled while we were eating in there. Over all the visit was terrible and for $ 30 I wish I would have went somewhere else. Don’t waste your time or money better off going to McDonald’s. I seriously don’t even want to give this place one star it was that terrible.

I normally don’t eat Mexican food and the last Mexican restaurant I went to was years ago at Maui Tacos. When I went in to Las Piñatas the first time about a year ago I tried their chicken burrito and I liked it. Ate that and a beef burrito a few times after that. Then I tried their Kitchen Sink burrito. Wow! That bugger is massive! It was a pleasure finishing that monster off. I regularly go in to have a wet burrito. The people working there are great and I enjoy the atmosphere and ambiance.

Jan 1, 2016. Wow! I had the most RUDEST service ever! I am actually in the parking lot in shock. This older Mexican woman behind the cashier actually had the nerve to bypass me in line and wait on her friend in the back of me! She looked at me saying that the woman had ordered over the phone so she was going to go before me; even tho I was next in line. THEN she answered the phone and started making weird faces to me – THEN answered ANOTHER without even apologizing. Now I can see why this place has so many BAD reviews. No locals go here just poor naïve tourists who happen to see it from the road. AVOID this place at all costs!!! Also read other reviews about the poor quality of THEFOOD! Plus the smell in here is bad. The Department of Health needs to pay them a visit. BTW I wonder if this woman is an illegal alien. Then the Department of Immigration should pay a visit.

We loved the enchilada sauce and the chicken burritos were great. If only we had food like this in la. This is a casual place with wonderful food.

Not gonna lie about this place. Thought I was In For a treat today but I got the burrito surprise and it’s not the surprise you looking for folks. I carefully scan the menu for some lunch time grindz and I decide on La Burrito beef, bean & cheese which was a bean and good knows what kind of meat it was if any(dinky the dog was a strong possibility) but it was horrible. I know my burritos and outside of a Costco frozen burrito ranked 2nd in all time nasty burritos. Let the picture do the talking, so folks take a big look at photo before you hand over your hard earned cash. But on a positive note the had a wicked salsa bar with amazing chili verde salsa. Highlight of the meal in my book. I’m not saying it’s the worst in the world but I’m use to a higher quality taco/Mexican place for my Mexi mouth dance with food.

You have 20 minutes until you need to get to the airport and you’re hungry, what do you do? Stop at piñatas of course! This place isn’t mind blowing, the beans are bland, the portion of meat is small but they’re FAST and the free salsa bar is on point. I ordered a crunchy soft taco plate for $ 10. It was fast, hot and delicious. The place was filled with local haoles eating burritos and enchiladas. The lady taking orders knew almost everyone that walked in. They also serve beer and wine if you need a pre-airport fix without the large price tag of Stinger Rays. Remember to all my California natives who want to compare this fare to their local spot. Don’t!

The owner was really nice, but my «Kitchen Sink» Burrito it could have been much better too much sour cream Burrito no real flavor. No thinking of the ratio of meat to veggies to dairy was detected. It was like a lot of food thrown in a Flour Tortilla. The salsa bar was good place was a-ok but the Burrito could have been better.

My family is visiting from the San Francisco bay area in California and we were craving Mexican. The reviews drew us in, but after ordering burritos of carne asada tacos, nachos and fish tacos we quickly realized this was not only inauthentic but overall not good quality. I would have rather ordered PizzaHut. Save your money and eat Mexican somewhere else. Our children got stomach aches after eating and we dealt with upset tummies all night. Not worth it. We might be spoiled in the Bay Area, but we do know quality. Using a microwave to make nachos is unacceptable especially at almost $ 10 per order.

You’d think that their Taco Salad would be great like some of the other items that they serve, but no… They put cabbage and a bit of ice berg lettuce. It was totally disgusting. I was very disappointed and confused on why they used Cabbage. The shredded beef tasted as if it came out of a can. Not good at all.

No stars! The service treated us terrible. They serve breakfast all day and the cook was taunting us and heckling us once he realized he had to cook breakfast. He scowled at us as he was complaining about it to his coworkers. We said forget it and got our money back. We felt completely disrespected for merely ordering off of their menu. The older lady cashier said that we should get used to it bc everyone on Maui is rude… We were disappointed with her lack of professionalism as well as the cook CJ. All in all— HUGEDISAPPOINTMENTOF A STAFF. P. S. They are lucky I had to give at least one star. Deserve 0 stars.

Being from California, we’re spoiled by good mexican food. The burritos are as big as college footballs. The shredded beef is very good and well spiced. The fish in the fish burrito was grilled and not fried… big plus+. The salsa bar was well done. Very good restaurant.

My first time to here and it was actually really excellent! I really enjoyed the ambience when you walked him it’s your basic typical fast food homestyle cooking Mexican restaurant. The cashier at the front was so awesome she was so friendly she know exactly what to recommend! We ordered up at the counter we got two shredded chicken tacos with the rice and beans and a chicken taco salad you with the salad you can either chips or tortilla bowl, I chose the chips. I just wanted to try something different. The portion size was huge when we got the food. The chicken was delicious the seasoning of the shredded chicken was on point! I was very very impressed. The only bummer is that this restaurant is on Maui and I live in Oahu! So next time I go to Maui I definitely will be going back and checking it out one more time!

I’m originally from Texas, home of the most amazing Tex-Mex restaurants that side of the border. So, finding a Mexican food restaurant that meets my standards is hard to come by on Maui. However, Las Pinatas provides a pretty good option for tacos, fresh salsa, etc., when I don’t feel like making my own. My kids love the pinatas that hang from the ceiling, too! The prices are reasonable for Maui, again, not cheap like Texas, but worth it if you’re craving Mexican.

Piñata’s is a decent hole-in-the-wall Mexican food restaurant. I come for the tacos. They are cooked like I got used to in college in Arizona — they’re fried. I’m sure they’re healthy anyway — they have lettuce and tomatoes on them. The fried hard-shell tacos are such a step above pre-fab taco shells, that I won’t eat tacos unless they come fried, so mainly I eat Mexican food when I’m visiting family in Arizona. These definitely are good tacos. The salsa is fresh and flavorful.

Service I would give it 5 stars. The lady at the register was very attentive. I had a carne asada burrito. Well the carne asada was just on point it was delicious. The beans well they were refried can beans(but now a days in mexican restaurants is hard to find something that it doesn’t come from the can). I was glad to try their salsa and them not being from a can, props for that! Why I give them two stars. Well simple, they microwave their food. I’m sorry but the first thing that comes in my mind when you microwave something is that its not fresh of the day. You can’t microwave rice or beans! They are suppose to be fresh. Well if you are(because I really don’t know how many restaurants do it) don’t do it on a place that your customers can see it! Let us be with the illusion or go with the idea that nothing was microwaved!

Ya had me at «Salsa Bar». I love Salsa — on everything. So when I walked in the door and saw that glorious salsa bar, I knew I was going to be very happy! The food is nothing to scoff at either and the prices are very reasonable. Highly recommend!

So, this is our second year in a row coming to Pinatas. This time we had quick friendly service 4 stars for service 3 star for the price.($ 40 for 2 people) 5 stars for parking. plenty of space in the parking lot. 3 stars for taste/flavor of the food(kinda bland, but you can add salsas) 5 stars for quantity of food. Overall, ehhhhh.

Horrible service. 4 employees standing around talking we were ready to order employees ignored us a party of 5 no hello no nothing. Phone rings takes phone order still ignored us. Waited another 5 minutes still no greetings nothing. Did not acknowledge us. As a Unilocal reviewer this has been by far the worst service ever! Highly do not recommend this Mexican food establishment!

No changes, but a 2008 review needs to be updated. Food is still good, specials are worth checking on, and the salsas are excellent. It can get crowded.
