If you live in town and don’t want to drive«far» to get your fix on Maui’s feeble nightlife, then this is your only choice for drinks and dancing. THEEVENT: It happens about twice a month, and usually on Friday nights(very rarely does it happen on a Saturday) and is themed to music from the 70’s through the 90’s. They sneak in a current tune once in a while, and play the Electric Slide WAY too much. The $ 5 cover is now inflated to $ 10, and parking is free. ATMOSPHERE: The Elleair Ballroom is where it all happens. It is NOT a nightclub scene at all, but a ballroom with its lights turned off with lighting from the dance floor only, so it’s very dark in certain areas. There are long communal tables set up at the rear of the room and very few small tables up front, and no traditional bar seating. The dance floor is pretty spacious with below average lighting as it’s a temporary DJ set up. He does have a good sound system though, with crisp and clean sounds. Buy your cash-only scripts first, then you redeem them at the takeout window for mixed drinks or the make shift table bar for brewskies. Drink prices are average, $ 5+. DRESSCODE: LOL that’s a good one. But seriously, there really are no rules that are enforced. Use your common sense. THECROWD: It’s mainly older(30+). I personally haven’t experienced any rowdiness or fights. OVERALL: Good prices, good music. Twice a year attendance is enough for me lol.

This is probably the longest running and oldest place to dance in Central Maui. Located in the Elleair Room at the Maui Beach Hotel, this is held on the second Friday of each month(although the actual Friday can change due to events being held). It features a live DJ spinning oldies from the 70’s up to the present. The dance floor is a portable one used for events and is quite large(30’x30’ +/-) that is set in front of the room’s stage area.(where the DJ is set up). There is also a bar that offers the usual mix of drinks, and is purchased by scrip. Each scrip is $ 2.00.(a Heineken is 3 scrip). If you’re old enough to remember, the predecessor to this was Stylus Point Disco and the room was then called, the Red Dragon Room. It had a dedicated dance floor towards the back of the room and a DJ booth. As far as the crowd, it is a mixture of ages, locals and some visitors, and if you go often enough, you’ll begin to see the regulars. If you’re looking for a chic night club, with bottle service and beautiful people and scenery, this is not it, BUT if you want to just dance and have a good time, this is the place to go.
