Food came pre-packaged and was extremely expensive. Some of the food sitting on the counter looked like it was there for a long time. At least there is air conditioning!

They should re-train the afternoon cashier who worked this past Sunday. She was extremely rude to my wife who tried to use our voucher from Hawaiian airlines. Even after the agent from Hawaiian airlines explained to her that there was an agreement with the airline and restaurant management to honor the voucher she continued to be rude. She should go to charm school also to help her also with her ignorance.

After reading some of the reviews on this place I actually felt bad for the one cook and one bartender/cashier here. I don’t know if they should be judged so harshly. They are very busy providing the only option for a hot(or cold) meal at this airport. I had them warm up the turkey croissant sandwich and it was actually pretty good. The burger smelled good and I was tempted to get it but didn’t bother. Unfortunately I couldn’t exactly give the restaurant a super high rating because the food was indeed just ok. It will work in a pinch while you are waiting for your flight, and that is what it is there for.

The only game in town for travelers coming, going or connecting to other flights. Friendly service but sad quality food. I say sad because the saimin comes from tap water over a packet to the microwave– turning it to mush And the time in line or waiting for a grilled or fried item is also too long for cooking provisions from Costco or another supplier. If you fight to be the airport food supplier please fight to have higher standards Two stars because they don’t complain about giving a refund on the bad food or long wait times

Awesome burger. $ 11 just for the burger, but well seasoned and hit the spot. I also heard another customer raving about it.

The negative reviews here seem to be mostly about the pre-made sandwiches and pricing. The big island can get spendy as a tourist so it is overpriced. The bar side serves hot food. We picked up a spam musubi, ordered the pork nachos, and one last loco moco, and they all hit the spot. Not the best on the island, but they tasted good enough for airport food and the AC provided relief from the humidity outside.

If I could post 0 stars I would! Awful food selection and service! Not even 8pm and no one is working or preparing food. Very limited menu. Only one cashier working at the bar, no one at the food counter.

Eat before you get to the airport! We waited almost 30 minutes to get our $ 7 salty grilled cheese sandwiches. Why order grilled cheese sandwiches? Over half to menu items were unavailable when we went to order. Two thumbs down.

This place is THEWORST. Ran out of pretty much the entire menu, it wasn’t even busy. Terrible service, attitude, and cruddy food.

Since we had a flight out of the Kona airport this morning, we decided to eat at the airport for convenience sake. Nothing fancy and nothing special, but food was not too bad. We both had breakfast type entrees(eggs, rice, and meats).

Service here is terrible. The lady working the bar is angry at the world, and taking it out on the customers. She was giving us attitude from ordering to pick-up. And she told us that ¾ of the menu was off limits because they are closing. It’s only 7:43pm right now . And I expect that airport food is going to be expensive, but $ 11 for a cheeseburger is worse than NFL concessions.

This place is a-ok. I’m gonna show them some love, because they had plenty of to go items, like salads, sandwiches, hummus, wraps… Or a hot kitchen with fries, onion rings, burgers, and NACHOS. Yah. It’s nothing fancy smancy, but is waaaaay better than being hungry. Or even worse… Mc Donalds!

We never stop at airport bars/restaurants when we arrive, but our friends we were meeting came on a later flight, so here we were. ATMOSPHERE: Located in Kona International Airport. The small restaurant was jam packed. Every seat was taken. The bar is a tiny 4 seater with less than impressive décor and housekeeping. The rest of the tables are high tops, regular, counter, and outdoor seating, and alcohol is not served outside. MENU: Bentos, salads, burgers, pizzas, a coffee bar. Prices were average but alcohol was very pricey. BEVERAGE: Kona Brewing Company Longboard — $ 8 for a draft?! Aren’t we IN Kona? How far did the beer have to travel? Import bottles were 25 cents less. Anyway, the beer was good but not ice cold. SERVICE: It’s like a cafeteria with a bar, so aside from the bartenders, there is no waiter service. Order, pay, and sit. Bar service was quick and friendly. OVERALL: Only if you’re desperate. If not, save your time and money.

Not a bad place to stop in to grab something to eat while you wait for your flight. It’s Located in the kona airport and that’s where my hubby and I went to burn some time. We had dropped off our rental and checked our bags. Since this is an outdoor open space terminal/airport there is no ac to rescue you from the humidity. So when we saw the café our legs could not get there fast enough lol. Once inside we saw that there were a good amount of tables available. The menu was above the counter on the wall not to far from the drinks. Cereal, yogurt, muffins, cookies, coconut water, and odwalla drinks were available for purchase. We saw that they had pulled pork nachos and placed our order. I was craving something comforting and knew this would be it. The one employee that was taking care of us handed our food over the counter when it was ready. The cheese was hot and not plentiful as nachos should be. I made sure the sour cream, jalapeños, pork and cheese was piled onto that one chip I stuffed into my mouth. The pork was a bit aged, but it sufficed to alleviate my hunger pangs. The only con I have to say was that this place for drinks is pricey. One odwalla drink and coconut water was 8 buckaroos each. Overall an a-ok café.

Let me tell you why. 7 cold kona brews on tap gets you 5 stars at an airport Full bar. Fries. Onion rings Burgers. Teri chicken sanich. Grilled cheese Etc. But, kona brew is the 5 star of it. Need help, get a chicken teri samich, a wailua wheat and some fries. You will be Aloha and ready to sleepy on the flight. Ya feel me?!

Horrendous food outlet at the airport. But oh wait we are captive and have no choice. The upshot is the ac which is a welcome in an outdoor airport and there is a bar despite being hideously small.

This place in the airport is pretty terrible. The lighting is just the worst, the food has been sitting there for eons, and the cashiers looked bored as hell. But there is air conditioning! And on a hot day that’ll make a stop in worth it. Also on the upside is the Kona Brewing Company beer on tap. Go if you must.

I don’t know how people can hate on this place so bad. maybe they’re just sad to be leaving Hawaii? There’s one guy in the grill and one harried cashier /bartender I ordered the nachos with kalua pork and extra jalapenos and it was surprisingly good. they have a few of the local beers on tap and they tasted good. it’s also one of the few spots in that airport that has air conditioning.

Note to self, make sure to eat before going to the airport. I should not try to go to this café ever again. We had to leave early to catch our flight to Honolulu then back to California. We had some time and the kids were hungry. We got the kids chicken tenders with French fries($ 9.75) that probably came from game hens. My husband got a prepackaged turkey sandwich on a croissant($ 8.75) that was hard and gross. Then to top it all off, my kids wanted chips. Each 1 ¾ ounce bag was $ 3.00 and I told my kids that they better finish the bag and lick the flavoring.
