Gamestop

I don’t come in here often, but when I do, it’s usually because my child NEEDS something or has money to burn.
This night was different. I was coming in for me. I love playing certain video games. One of them is the LEGO video games. The specific game that has me out of the house looking for help is the LEGO Jurassic World game. I needed help. That means I need the gamer guide. I don’t care if you call it cheating. I seriously needed help because I was so close to being 100% complete!
Hubby had called and asked if they had the guide. They did and they even offered to put it on hold for me. Great! We jumped in the corner to go get it. We get there and the place is empty. It’s not often I come in to Gamestop and be the only one in there. There were 2 employees who immediately greeted us as we walked in.
We looked around to see what was new, what was coming soon, and checked out the used games. The selection was good. There were all kinds of games. For a tiny store, they seem to have a lot of items. The sales associate asked if we were looking for anything in particular and struck up a conversation with the family while I secretly checked out what Harry Potter Pop! figurines they had.
Nothing else caught our eye. I purchased the guide that they had on hold, with a small discount for having the Gamestop Rewards Membership.
Customer service was great. The inventory is very diverse. It’s an asy location for me to get to. I would definitely recommend.

Ok, I was surprised to see the not so good reviews for Gamestop Kailua. I have been a customer for as long as I live Kailua (6 years) and I can only give ‘em 5 stars. Some employees betta than others, but Makana and the gals that have worked there have always been awesome to deal with.
For me, the following is why this store get all my business (in order of importance to me):
1) Advice — I can depend on honest opinions and suggestions on games/accessories…Even advice on game console operation, settings, etc. Neva happen at Best Buy or Walmart or wherevas. The employees that work here are ALL serious gamers.
2) I have seen only great customer service. Maybe ymmv for some, but for me service has been awesome… Maybe because I kupuna lol
3) If you live Kailua, they are CONVENIENT. I suspect most customers in this store live nearby. I am less than a mile away. For me to drive to BestBuy mean $ 15 gas for the truck, plus min. 90 minutes of my time. Buying games from here is a no-​brainah :)
4) I can get a decent price on used games and acceptable price on trading in the «non-​keeper» games. They are a business and still need to make a buck.

They offer decent selection of games for all major platforms. Helpful employees. Competitive prices. Good shop.

awful service they wouldn’t let me return my game system because they said they were closing in 10 minutes so I tried return it the next day and they told me it was past the return policy

I was disappointed because when I called on the phone for the Xbox they gave me a price but never mentioned it was used. It was not until I got there they mentioned it is used and only has a 30 day guarantee.
They also never mentioned we could bring the one that is not working back to them for a credit, which would have been nice.
I ended up buying it because I told my 4 year old that we were going to get a replacement Xbox and I did not want to have to explain to him how I got bamboozled and this was a used one so we are not buying it. He was all hyped up to get it.
I hope this review helps other buyers investigate if it is used or new first and if they will give a credit to fix an older one. Then you make a decision if this is your best place to buy it or if you want to buy it online.

Before there was this big white guy that had very bad costumer service. Very rude and blunt when I told them I had a game already before the release date. The service there is alright now but not amazing.

Aside from Block buster in Kailua, this is the only place that you can purchase video games. They try to sell you the used version of whatever new game you are purchasing. There are never any sales on releases, need to go to Best Buy or Toys are Us for either a discount or gift card. Their strengths are their selection and accessories.
