I usually LOVE Mahaloha Burgers! But tonight was so frustrating! We placed an order for pickup/takeout. Came back to the house and about to sit down and eat as a family and my husband’s Banzai Burger was a slab of meat with cheese on half the burger and 1 flimsy onion ring. Where is everything else that is supposed to come on it? So my husband had to drive all the way back while my food and my sons food got cold. He asked for them to remake my burger since it would be cold by the time he got back. He came back and his burger was right but then they gave us onion rings and regular fries. Not my burger. And we won’t eat regular fries or onion rings. I appreciate the effort but why waste that food instead of just remaking my cold burger? We wasted 30 mins driving back and forth and then he was late to go to his hockey game. We called and let them know what happened and it was pretty much our fault for not understanding them? I will never order food for takeout again. As I said I am usually a satisfied customer when I dine in.

Came here out of mere curiosity. Walked in to «fakey luau» décor all over the wall. Not a fan of the name either. Burger did not make up for the tacky theme of the place. Would choose teddys over«mahaloha.» I’ll leave this one for the tourists. On the bright side, the cashier was really friendly.

ALLOOOOOHHHAAA! Where can you go to find a burger made with aloha? DUH, Mahaloha Burger! Soooo… when your spin instructor tells you it’s time for a cheeseburger after a grueling, 1-hour workout… you don’t reject it. You’d be cray cray if you did. I was craving a juicy, finger-licking, burger and to be honest, that’s just what I got at Mahaloha Burger. PARKING: Good luck finding street parking in the area. This area is located next to a bunch of different businesses including the famous Boots & Kimo’s so everyone is fighting for a stall. Use your creative mind, park, and take a short stroll to get here if ya know what I mean :) FOOOOOOD: They have quite a menu to choose from including 12 burgers with everything from a veggie to chicken katsu to salmon, 6 hotdogs(3 specialty — loco moco to chili cheese to bacon wrap), and sides. Thus far, I’ve had their Teriyaki and famous Loco Moco burger. Both were good, but I love me some teri sauce so I’d have to go with that one. Plus, with a pineapple on it, can’t pass that up! But the loco moco comes at a close second! Next one on my list will be the Banzai BBQ burger! Anything with the name banzai hooks me already! If you’re feeling guilty for indulging in a burger, you can make any burger into a lettuce wrap for $ 7.95. If you prefer wheat buns, they will switch it out for no extra charge. But really, don’t feel guilty! You deserve that oh so delicious burger. Your taste buds will be your best friend for a little while :) The buns are grilled with buttaaaaahhh so you know what’s up. They advertise all natural, grass-fed beef from Big Island without hormones or antibiotics. Honestly, I can’t tell the difference in taste but that’s beside the point. A burger is a burger to me which is still yummy in the tummy. As long as the burger is juicy and filling, it’s good to me! They cook the patties to medium, so if you don’t like that, make sure you tell them! For single patties, you’re looking at 1⁄3 lb and for double it’s ½ lb. It actually comes out medium too. The sauces were tasty too! Everyone is comparing it to Teddy’s and in my opinion, I think it really just depends on the person. I liked both equally. Their sides are typical. I’ve only had their fries and tater tots so far and they seemed normal to me. Bacon on anything will make it 100xs better though: P Next on my list are those onion rings :) For all you beer lovers, they serve beer on tap! Pretty cool if you ask me! SERVICE: As for the service, it’s not horrible but it’s not amazing either. It’s a typical burger joint service with room for improvement in terms of the speed of getting our order done. It’s not unbearably crowded even during the peak lunch hours. All the times I’ve gone, it was around 12pm and maybe 4 – 5 other parties waiting to order. It seems as they staff according to business demands which makes sense. Weekends/holidays have more staff compared to weekdays. The cashier was friendly and patient with us as we tried to figure out what we wanted. Plus, we’re probably the most humbug customers requesting this and that on the side with no this. Aiyaiyai. But they got the order right! Whoop whoop! DINING: If you’re dining in and have more than 2 items, I recommend sitting upstairs. With our 3 items, it was really crowded downstairs and a party of 3 decided to sit on the table next to us in a wee bitty corner. That’s just too many people in a small space. There’s outdoor seating too, but if you’re horrified of birds like me, let’s stick to indoors. They also have a spot in Waikiki(I think Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center if I remember correctly). I think that particular location has a check-in offer too! Last random thought: they have a cool picture booth! Capture those memories and send it to friends or yourself through email, Facebook or Twitter!

My first taste of this burger was at the Spam Festival last year in Waikiki. Messy as heck from the sauces but that’s what makes the burger so ono. Found out about this Kailua location and did a hana hou. This is my third time having a Mahaloha burger. I made it a Mahaloha Monday since I had the holiday off. In fact, I was looking forward to this day all week. I ordered the teriyaki burger which came with juicy teri sauce, a pineapple ring, lettuce, tomato, pickles, special sauce. Left the onions off. Oh, not to forget the juicy thick patty; I think they use grass fed beef. Service was great, friendly and patient staff while I contemplated trying something different. I didn’t. Well, I got full on half my burger and packed the other half to go(it was my lunch today!) My leftover half was still juicy and moist as ever, I left my coworkers with envy.(Mahaloha – I gave you free advertising). Sure wish I had the whole burger today. Never fear, I shall return.

Great food, good people with courteous people skills, nice location. Regular wait times. Open and close at posted hours. Unlike other places that close earlier than posted hours. Thank you for an excellent meal. Very accommodating to disabled folk.

As a Kailua resident, I have been skeptical to try this place. Since the radical gentrification of Kailua in the past five years, I feel like I am somehow betraying my community in patronizing places located in the«boutique district.» And with a fusion of the words«mahalo» and«aloha» I’ve always had an internal eye roll when I passed by this place. Still having difficulty with the pronunciation: Maha-loha? Mahal-oha? It turns out to be Mach-loha(German pronunciation with the ch). Wife and I decided to try this place anyway, and were happy to learn that it is locally owned and sources from local farmers. Interesting seating options here: either waaay up in the loft or al fresco. We ate outside and were quickly surrounded by rogue chickens who demanded a donation of our food… or else. Good thing we didn’t order the chicken sandwich! I got the straight up Mahaloha Burger and fries, wife got the Mushroom and Swiss Burger with onion rings. I found it interesting they offered a Loco Moco Burger(another point for true locality), but couldn’t bring myself to order it. 10 minutes and 23 dollars later, our pager went off. Burgers were great, but not too dissimilar to Teddy’s down the road. Same sauce. But these were made with higher quality and thicker burgers cooked medium to perfection. Some fries were hot, others cold. Same phenomenon with the onion rings. We’d come back, but only after all the tourists go back to wherever they come from on those yellow busses. And we are definitely not taking our pictures wearing fake leis with their Facebook kiosk!

I really like this place. Burgers are always on point and fresh. Fries are yummy plain and tots are perfect as well. I do have one suggestion to management. It would be great if I could sub in chicken breast for the burger patty on your burgers, maybe for the price of the double patty? I like the chicken sandwich but some variety with it would be great and it sucks that there’s an up charge for taking a topping off and subbing in something else. Other than that I would highly recommend this burger spot over teddy’s in Kailua.

Not bad burger joint. Burger was huge thick patty. Would have been five stars, but the French fry serving could have been more. Nice setting has a small second floor about 3 tables nice for a small group of 7. Awesome portable pager system where u can go shop around or sit outside and when order ready pager lights up.

YUM!!! I think we drove by this place after realizing BCD was too crowded and decided to stop. I love a good burger, and so we checked it out. I had a regular ol cheeseburger which was excellent. I love that you can pick your side, so I chose tater tots because I love them. Everything was freshly made and came out delicious. I also had a GooseIsland IPA and it only cost me $ 2. It wasn’t happy hour either!!! My hubs had the turkey burger and he was impressed. He is way pickier than I am, so if he liked it, it has to be solid. The place is decorated very cute, lots of traditional island style depictions; think almost like cave man drawings, but hipster-y. The workers were super friendly, there is adequate seating upstairs, and I will totally come back here when I want another burger.

First time eating here. Ordered the Loco Moco Burger and a Coconut Breeze Drink. Waited 20 mins and they forgot to deliver my Coconut Breeze drink. The Cashier Apologized and offered a complimentary drink to make things better, but. I was over it, asked for a refund and left. Too bad… This is coming from a Hamburger lover. The kid that was training did nothing nor said anything to resolve the situation. Tsk… –The Trainer should have helped in the situation, we did get our Burgers on time, not the drink though. Ever ate something with no drink? Pls have the employees trained better and Remember to keep their promise to the customers.

Although Mahaloha Burger says they use big island grass fed beef, I am a bit skeptical. I work at a place where BI grass fed beef is served, and I usually only eat local grass fed beef since being pregnant. Their patties seem very processed, pre– formed and definitely not as tasty as other grass fed burgers Ive had. The consistency of the meat is weird.

Messy burger, but a quite delicious burger. I ordered their mushroom and swiss with a side of bacon and cheese fries. Mmmmm it was all very good. The beef had a nice rich taste, a good amount of mushrooms, and the swiss pulled it all together. It was drippy and got everywhere, but was worth every bite. I was disappointed at first look by the bacon cheese fries, not usually a fan of nacho cheese on my fries, but it tasted great. Cheesy, salty, crunchy. I had to slow myself down. I look forward to going back for their sweet potato fries.

Really great burger joint located in the new upscale kailua. The restaurant itself is really clean and modern. Lots of seating available to either outside dining or inside. There is even a loft with two big screen Tv’s playing the surf channel. So the feel and ambiance is really nice. However I did notice that the music was very inconsistent to the theme of the restaurant. I heard Jawaiian music to straight up indie. Not a fan of Jawaiian Music so I would stick with one music genre. I did notice while ordering their is a touch screen photo booth that was cool. Not sure if it was free but a cool touch especially with the influx of Japanese tourist in kailua recently. Can’t forget the food! It was great, many different selections to choose from and menu makes it very easy to order. I like how they have beer on tap and other drinks to choose from like shakes and smoothies. I thought my burger was great, in my opinion better than Kua aina less expensive and not sloppy like Teddys. Even their fries were really good and had different options. The only thing I would change would be the customer service. They need to be a little bit more excited. They didn’t give any suggestions and remained silent as I ordered. Also I struggled to carry my food up to the loft which they didn’t help me with.

Marco Polo recorded observations of mongol warriors placing minced meat underneath the saddles to create a beef patty like food that was thought to be cooked via pressure and friction. When Kublai Khan traveled to Moscow, the Muscovites adopted this culinary technique and it soon later evolved into steak tartare. Some believe this is how the hamburger was eventually born. Thank God for the mongols, right? And thank God the burger has evolved into so much more than just a mince meat patty! Mahaloha Burger(very clever name) serves up a well evolved juicy, flavorful, delicious burger! I had intentions of ordering the Bonzai burger when I walked in and I accidentally ordered the Teriyaki burger instead.(I was distracted by the cool photo postcard screen to the right of the register.) As I bit into the Teriyaki burger, a combo of sweet grilled pineapple and salty beef juices hit my taste buds and although it was a tasty bite, I thought, «Wait a second.. Where’s the crunch from the onion ring and the creaminess of Cole slaw? ?? My oh so smart husband noticed my perplexed look and reminded me of what I ordered. Duh. My bad. I was really looking forward to the Banzai burger. They were kind enough to slap some slaw and an onion ring on my already bitten into Teriyaki burger. So in a way, I got to try 2 burgers. The onion rings are actually onion rings and not a slither of onion over coated and masked by batter. The chili cheese dog on the house made butter roll was okay. The weiner was a bit too big(I know what you’re thinking dirty bird! Lol!). Even though the roll was good, I prefer a soft steamed bun. They serve beer on tap! That in itself is 5 star worthy! Finally a fast food burger joint that offers beer. Yes! ! I don’t recall what other beers they serve on tap. You can look at my picture attached under tips if you really want to know. I got a Kona long board. Smoothies and milkshakes are also available. Parking is on the street or in a small private lot behind the restaurant. Bathrooms are also located outside by the parking lot. They are located just down the way from Boots and Kimo and next to the sandal place by Peets Coffee. The photo postcard thing is very cool to help you past the time while you’re waiting on your order, but do it after you order so you don’t end up ordering the wrong thing! Much mahaloha to the burger evolvers of Mahaloha!

Good burgers, good tots — we got what we came for! Tried the mahaloha burger and Swiss mushroom burger, both were really good with the special sauce/mayo they use. Would come back to get the mahaloha burger again, but with bacon next time. :) Also tried the tot-chos and would def recommend. If in the area and craving a burger, this is the place! They also offer military discount!

An ok burger place in Kailua. I had the Mahaloha burger and they messed up my order; they thought I ordered the Mahi Mahi burger. I could tell the cashiers were brand new so they needed more experience. My cashier took a crazy long time to refund my money and recharge me for the correct burger. I didn’t understand why she couldn’t just make me pay the difference. Anyway, my burger tasted fine. It’s a giant messy sloppy burger that dripped every which way no matter how I held it. There was just too much liquid fixings in the burger. It’s a 10 napkin burger so don’t go there for a business meeting! My husband had the loco moco burger which he said was just ok. He said the gravy was too thin and dripped like crazy.

Let me just say that I don’t eat burgers and hot dogs very often these days. When I decide that I’m willing to scarf a whole burger or hot dog down, it better be something special and worthwhile! I’ve got to be honest that I was kind of skeptical about Mahaloha Burger at first because any place that’s going to serve a Loco Moco Burger frightens me just a little(the calories, man, the calories!!), but I’ve gotta say, they do a good job at what they do. Parking: Be prepared. This is the«town» part of Kailua, so all the streets are busy, the parking lots are full of tourists and locals alike, and with Boots & Kimo at the end of the street, you’re going to be fighting for parking. I’ll be honest, I parked near Whole Foods & just walked… but you’re not supposed to do that because it’s a private lot…*cough* anywho… Background: This is the 2nd location of a business that started in the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center’s food court, so good on this local business for doing well enough to expand! The owner, Jesse, is a local grown guy who moved away to Vegas for a while, got into the food industry, and then moved home to do his own thing! I think he really understands the importance of using as many local ingredients as possible, and it shows in his food since he uses Big Island beef and locally grown produced. It helps me not mind how much things cost as much. Food: They’ve got 12 kinds of burgers($ 6.25-$ 8.25 each); 7 beef burgers and 5 non-beef burgers(mahi mahi, turkey, chicken, chicken katsu & a veggie burger)! For anyone curious about the previously mentioned Loco Moco burger, it’s delicious, but it’s pretty messy what with all that gravy! If I’m in the mood for beef, I like the Avocado Swiss burger best because I’m an avocado-in-burgers fan. Otherwise, I’d get a turkey burger as my non-beef option because I can pretend it’s a beef burger without necessarily feeling as bad lol. There’s 6 kinds of hot dogs on the menu($ 4.95-$ 6.75 each), including three kind of special ones: Loco Moco, Chili Cheese & Bacon Wrap. Yes, that’s right! Not only do they have a Loco Moco Burger, they have a Loco Moco Hot Dog as well, and it, too, is pretty messy lol. My suggestion is of the Bacon Wrap Hot Dog because bacon always makes everything taste better! Healthy ProTip: You can ask for a wheat bun at no extra charge. Also, you can ask them to lettuce wrap your meal instead of using a bun, but do it at your own risk because that burger is going to be MESSY. In case you’re wondering about the fries and such, not only do they have fries, they have sweet potato fries, tater tots, onion rings, tossed salad, and mac salad if you feel like changing things up. On top of that, they have what I call«fun fries”– Bacon Cheese Fries, Parmaroni Fries & Tater Tot Supreme(which are kind of like totchoes). Bacon. Cheese. Fries. Period. Drinks: Sure, you can get the average soft drink to go with your burger… OR you can get BEER! Just like the rest of the meat and produce, the beer is from Hawaii, too! Come on! You know a beer will go with your burger/hot dog so much better than a Sprite or whatever. Obviously, you must be 21 to order it. Venue: They’ve got indoor and outdoor seating available, but if you’re drinking, you have to remain indoor because that’s what their permit allows. There are about five tables out front, and all are under the shaded walkway fronting the store. There are three or four small tables inside near the ordering counter, but there are also more tables upstairs on the 2nd floor! FYI, it might get pretty hot up on the second floor… heat rises and all that.

Nice addition to the Kailua dining scene. Great location for Kaneohe and Kailua residents and visitors. Located in the same building as Boots n Kimo’s, there is plenty of customer parking in the back of the building. They have seating areas outside(great for peeps with dogs), downstairs(bar style seating) and upstairs. They have only one high chair — hopefully they will acquire more high chairs since there are so many young families in this area. The first thing you see when you enter is the selfie machine. Take a pic and email it to yourself or a friend. Cool idea! The menu is not big, but it has something for everyone. I tried the Mahaloha Burger and the hubby tried the avocado swiss. Both were pretty big and quite filling. We ordered side orders of fries and onion rings. Yum! Very crispy and not overly greasy. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Will be return for sure when we’re in the mood for a gourmet burger and fries/onion rings!
