Brian was awesome. He was informative and fun, and the wine was AMAZING. We will be back!

What an awesome fun time. Brian was a wonderful host tasted some good wines and some not so much but would love to have my own barrel created sometime. It was fun though just to just talk with the owners and understand their concept. Great fun for a few hours. If you are a heavy wine drinker like me. Much fun and the desert wine. Yes 24% alco

I got a groupon for a wine tasting for two, so I took my boyfriend on a date here I’m not much of a wine drinker, so it was fun tasting seven wines back-to-back, seeing what types I enjoy. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. My boyfriend(the wino) disliked that we didn’t get new glasses for every wine, thus tainting our tasting experience. Since they don’t serve food, they allow you to bring.

On a rainy Friday evening, my husband and I joined my friends to bottle some wine they ordered. My friends said they got a Groupon to do their own bottling of the wine they selected which was barreled about 4 weeks ago. I had fun using the heat gun to seal the tops of the wine bottles. My husband got to use the the contraption that corks on the wine bottles. My friends brought some food to enjoy with the wine and the owner came to offer samples of their other wines. We struck up a nice conversation with the owner and he was very informative about his wine and his opportunities to stock his wines in certain local stores. I hope Oeno really does expand to other parts of the island, especially the West side so we don’t have to make a lengthy drive to the Windward side.

As a newbie in the fine wine world Oeno Winemaking was so much fun! The wonderful gentleman who was serving us was patient and answered all our questions! I learned so much about wine, and I how it’s made and what makes different wines taste different. We got to sample I think eight different wine, a sangria, three types of white wines, three types of red wines, and then a dessert wine. They were all delicious! My boyfriend isn’t a wine person and even he enjoyed the different dimensions of the wines we tried! They also do group bottling which would be a fun activity for a wedding party or if you have a large group of people visiting. This was also a groupon deal! It was totally worth it! After the tasting we got to see where the wine was made. All the grapes and ingredients are important from all around the world! Oeno is serious about their product and it shows in the wine they produce! The workers are extremely knowledgable, but friendly and encourage they’re customers to ask questions! You can also bring snacks for your wine tasting, we ran to whole food before hand and grabs some cheese and crackers, but you can also order food from the restaurant next door as well. The location was easy to find, and there was a good amount of parking available. I think its by reservation only, but we called that same to day as we went. Overall this a great place and we will be going back again! You can also order individual bottles of wine, if they have any in stock!

I, like almost everyone else that wrote a review, got the groupon deal. Our deal was a wine tasting for two for $ 20.00 instead of $ 40.00, I posted a picture. This was the second half of my girlfriend and I pretend to be fancy day. We just recently graduated from UH so we we wanted to splurge a little, we had lunch at the museum of art and this was our big grand finale. Sorry to digress so much. So the wine tasting was really fun. The man that was serving the wine was super knowledgeable, I don’t know a whole lot about wine but he was able to answer any questions. We learned what causes each flavor in wine, how to pair it with food, and so much more. The wine here was also superb, uv never had such great tasting wine. I realized it after, but I think the reason it’s so good is because unlike wineries where they only use their own grapes, this place buys the best grapes from around the world and is allowed to make the best wine with no restrictions.

There’s always something that sticks out about any hidden restaurant that looks like a shack or, in this case, a wine shop that could have been easily overlooked in a small shopping complex. Nestled away in the corner of the parking lot, I was lucky enough to find the only complimentary parking spot that my compact rental could barely fit in. The name of the business already intrigued me from the start. Wine Making. I’ve been to my fair share of wineries and huge stores like Bevmo, but always enjoyed to find out about the smaller places that focus more on local tastes. No question about it, I could understand right away that the owners at Oeno are passionate beyond belief about their products. Hint: Ask for Marshall! I’m sure his colleagues would be just as welcoming and informative as well though. Since my girlfriend and I aren’t permanently glued to the Oahu area, we will probably stop in at another time to create our wines(keep in mind they can produce a FULL case of 29 – 31 bottles from as soon as 4 – 6 weeks, or as long as 8 weeks. Either way, that is FAST. A hole in the wall wine shop that heavily trumps a lot of the big boy wineries I’ve been to the past.

Gave a wine tasting to my sweetie for his birthday. This was an AWESOME idea! On the night we went, there was only one other table, so we got loads of attention and quite the education. I got a coupon from Groupon(hey, that rhymes!). We went in not really knowing what to expect. Turns out that their goal is to sell you a barrel so that you can host a bunch of other winebibbers, who will presumably do the same and beget more winebibbers… ad infinitum. If your friends are wired that way, it’s kind of a nice thought. With all that wine drinking, you are gonna need some cheese or bread or something so that you don’t end up under the table… or on top of it … from all of that sipping. They serve no food so BYOB(B for bread, that is). They even have that ice wine that I’ve heard so much about. I can’t remember how much I paid, but we probably drank a dozen different wines. Other reviewers are saying half a dozen. .. so is my sweetie(maybe that wine was better than I thought!).

We had a good experience here. My friends and I went here for valentine. We had so much fun and we love all the wine. We had a good deal that day $ 15 dollar for a couple. We tasted 9 different type of wine. The owner of the place was really nice. This place is really good for group of people. But if your planning to go here make sure you call them and make reservation.

I’m only giving this 4 stars for now. I’m saving the fifth star for after we go back and have a making/bottling party. I found this hidden gem thanks to Groupon. There was a wine-tasting deal, so I figured we would go check it out. Hey, we like wine, why not? At first, I was a little unsure. Oeno is located on a little side street, in a non-descript and worn out strip mall. Former home of a Blockbuster. I’m sure this little strip was a flurry of activity in it’s hey day, but I digress. We had to park on the street because playoffs! Kailua Pub was packed and there was no parking. Even the non parking stalls were full, but again I’m off track. Brian,(or maybe Bryan, or Brion, or some other variation of the aforementioned moniker, but for the sake of this review, we’ll go with Brian) was our wine expert! He greeted us, and put as at a private table. I’ve been to wine tastings that were in a group, and I liked this because it was an intimate experience. You had a better environment to ask questions about the wine, the origins, etc. we sampled 6 or 7 wines. We liked or loved all except for one. I think it was an Italian Pinot Grigio. Just not our flavors. The toasted caramel port was decadent. No other word can describe it. Some port wines you don’t really get the flavor, you just get the port. But this one really felt like I was drinking a glass of toasted caramel yumminess. The pineapple pear sangria wine was delicious too! Perfect sunny day wine, which is pretty perfect for Hawaii, since it’s always sunny when the vog isn’t around! Overall, the experience was lovely. I know for next time, yes there will be a next time, that we can bring cheese and crackers. I had seen that tip on Unilocal before, but it wasn’t until after we arrived that I remembered. We’re already planning our making/bottling party! Look out Oeno, I don’t think you’re ready for our crew!

Had a Groupon for the wine tasting — four of us — and NONE of us were disappointed! Friendly staff, good, unique wines and an edgy but cool atmosphere! The cranberry wine from the sangria collection was one of our favorites as well as the toaster caramel port. Totally coming back! You bring your own snacks for the tasting and with a $ 25 membership, you take home one of your favorite bottles(if available). Wines are seasonal and they change their list every 60 days or less. Great place to go with friends!

I really loved this place! Coming from Oregon, it wasn’t what my husband or I was expecting but it was still pretty cool. Marshall is a super nice, super accommodating, and genuinely interested in discussing wine with you. It’s also nice that you can order food from the pub next door or bring your own. The only thing I might recommend they work on is rushing you through the tasting. They don’t do it on purpose, Marshall is so high energy and excited I think he just wants to share everything he can with you! He also has great recommendations for your if you’re on vacation. Thanks for recommending the sunset cruise Marshall! It was fantastic!

Marshall and the Oeno staff are awesome! I organized a work function for the wine tasting at Oeno. It was a lot of fun with Marshall providing information about all the wines, and even offering additional samplings based on how we liked the selected wines. In the end we bought a barrel of the banana-pineapple sangria. We came back about 6 weeks later for the bottling party with about 16 people. We brought in some pizza from Boston’s across the street. The hands on bottling process is fun — without much room for error so don’t worry about ruining the wine you just bought and patiently waited for! Everyone from the office commented on how much they enjoyed the experience. As the organizer of the event I especially appreciated working with Marshall and the Oeno staff. They were responsive, educated, and helped me understand the process and plan some of the finer details of the event.

Purchased a $ 15 Voucher for 90-minute wine tasting at Oeno Winemaking in Kailua. There is no food served here, so we came prepared with cheese, crackers and chocolates with our own utensils and paper plates. Call ahead to make a reservation for seating. My best guess is maybe 20 people total can fit at a time at this place. The atmosphere was very chill and relaxing. Marshall, our wine expert briefly explained each of the six wines we tasted. They provide note taking sheets to write what you taste, smell and see in each glass. Oeno is definitely not like a classroom setting, but rather an introduction to the wines, then they let you discover the rest on your own. Overall, great for value for the price of the voucher, but I can’t say I’d come again for wine tasting at full price. My only disappointment was that our voucher was for 90 minutes, but the establishment was clearly trying to rush us out after about an hour.

Oeno offers a great little wine tasting experience for groups. My friend purchased a groupon for a group of four. It ended up being $ 4 and some change per person! Crazy cheap! The groupon got us a tasting of 6 different wines(a sangria, 2 whites, 2 reds and a dessert Riesling) for $ 5 more per person you can sample an extra white and an extra red. I honestly wasn’t all into taking notes about what I was tasting, but they give you a sheet of paper with info about taste and whatever hooty tooty wine lingo you wanna throw in. I was more interested in catching up with my friends over some wine and snacks. You are encouraged to bring in your own snacks: a variety of savory/fatty/salty things like cheese and salami, as well as sweet things like grapes or berries. We ended up getting an assortment of soybeans, crackers, cheese, olives and grapes from foodland before we came. Oeno also doesn’t provide any kind of plates/napkins/utensils, so make sure to bring your own. The wines were interesting, definitely catering to a large group of people since they were pretty mild and juicy. Having grown up in a family of alcoholics, cough cough I mean wine connoisseurs, I thought it was weird that we didn’t rinse our glasses between samples. I was also a little disappointed that you cannot buy single bottles of wine. Instead, you have to buy a barrel and come back to bottle it. The guy helping us gave us some cool information. He was a little preoccupied with other customers and doing other things. He almost forgot to tell us what one of the wines were. He was nice though and offered to give us the groupon deal directly through him the next time we came in. They change the wines up every season, so my friends and I might make this a quarterly activity. Thanks Nicole K. For organizing this little girls night out :)

I found a Groupon for a Wine Tasting for 4 for $ 22! With a special 20% off Groupon deal, each person in my party ended up paying just $ 4 each for 6 tastings and a GREAT girl’s night out! Thank you Sara S., Krysten I., and Lindsey S. for joining me! Oeno Winemaking, located on Ho’olai Street is a little hidden, but we managed to find it easily with the help of our GPS.(We’re K Town newbies!) There is a small parking lot, but it filled up pretty quickly due to the popularity of pub next door to Oeno Winemaking. When we arrived, our lovely sommelier introduced us and seated us at a table for four. I loved that we were seated intimately at a table. I have been to wine tastings where seating was limited, so the luxury of sitting closely with friends was wonderful! The set-up of Oeno Winemaking’s tasting is a go-at-your-own pace type of style. Instead of everyone listening to a schpiel on a wine and tasting it together, your table goes at its own pace separate from other tables. I enjoyed this set-up as it allowed our table to catch up without having to awkwardly mingle with other guests. Oeno Winemaking makes their own wine in an Italian Style. We learned that this Italian Style, which does not use preservatives or sulfites, allows for a more drinkable wine since it is not meant to age. So whether you are a red lover or white lover, the style of wine means that it appeals to almost any palate. Unlike other wine tastings, Oeno Winemaking does not offer food or pupus with their wines. You are welcome to bring your own foods. Just remember to bring napkins and utensils! The owner was so wonderful! He even offered us to call back for another tasting and he would offer us the same Groupon deal! For great wine, great service, and a FANTASTIC experience, go to Oeno Winemaking!

We loved our experience here! The wines selected for the wine tasting were superb. Marshall was very friendly and knowledgable. The place had a great ambiance, clean and spacious, too! We bought a bottle of our favorite(Stag’s Leap) and will definitely be back for more wine tasting, bottling, and/or beer tasting(March ’14). The handouts were helpful to point out all the different flavors we tasted as well as fun to personally rate each wine(8 wines to taste in 1.5 hours). Cheers!

This place for me was wavering between 3 and 4 stars… But decided to round up because I have had such a great experience about a month ago prior to my most recent field trip over here. Keyword: Groupon. $ 25 for 4 people, and you get a sampling of 7 – 8 various types of wine which uses exotic ingredients to be produced in their shop. The tastings change every so often, so it’s good to check back every now and then to try other types of wine. Fancy. When in doubt pinky out, as they say. And that we did. As we made«grown up lunchable» that we brought styled with cheese(sharp cheese, so be careful), salami, and crackers, we were introduced to variations of wines. Among my favorites were this dessert Sherry, and Acai Sangria. Only thing was that their wine portions got a lot less than before, but understandably so I suppose, since their Groupon special was pretty affordable and decently priced. The last time I went, they offered more per sampling, so we were really able to enjoy ourselves, and the person who was helping us learn about the various wine was on it, and would give us a decent amount of time to drink it before coming back again. This time, we seemed to be waiting a while before getting the next type of wine. I would come back here again, but probably if I had another Groupon only. It may be that the amount of wine given for this Groupon is less than if you were to pay regular price(I’m not sure though). But I don’t think I would pay regular price for what we were given.
