Dr. Lutwin is very nice, laid back, and one of my favorite dentists ever. He made getting a filling quick and relatively painless. He’s an expert at giving the numbing shot without you noticing. I’d definitely recommend him!
One drawback to the office is that you have to pay for your X-​rays. We moved to California just after getting a cleaning/​xrays at KDG. Dr. Lutwin said I needed a crown so I quickly got established with a dentist here. My dentist’s office here had me sign a release form and faxed it to KDG. They would not accept that so they sent met their own form to sign, which I did. Then, I had to call & pay $ 15 for the X-​rays. I’m really not sure what this money is covering… my insurance already paid for the actual x-​rays. The x-​rays are digital so they were emailed to me as a jpeg… so there was no cost of printing/​mailing…

Great relaxed atmosphere. They got me in within a couple days with Brocken molar. Would have fixed same day if I wanted but was told no nerve exposed so could wait. Dr. Lutwin very reassuring. Staff very nice and knowledgeable.
Just down street from our house so Wife is next.
Have been back for two more crowns and he even fixed an old dentist’s mistake while at it. Very thorough and the best dentist I have ever had. Definitely feel lucky to have found him. Thanks Unilocal !

Kalaheo Dental Group saved our honeymoon.
Somewhere over the Pacific Ocean aboard a Delta flight from LAX-​LIH after a whirlwind of a wedding week something happened to my tooth, it started to hurt… badly.
After toughing it out for one day and annoying my new wife with a bit of complaining I decided to order a frozen Pina Colada, that is where things went from bad to worse.
Immediately upon first sip of the otherwise delicious concoction pain shot through my tooth, up my face, bounced around inside my brain and spread down my spine into my otherwise innocent toes.
And even though it was day #2 of our honeymoon and my wife works in dental sales so a dentist’s office was the last place she wanted to be we pulled up Unilocal and looked for a well reviewed dentist and made the call to Kalaheo.
My call was answered immediately and they informed me they could see me in 20 minutes if I could get there, our hotel was about 20 miles away and we were in our pool gear but the pain wasn’t going away so I called for the valet to bring our car around and off we went.
The office was professional, clean and they got to us quickly, took the x-​rays and Dr. Michael Lutwin, D.D.S ran some bite tests eventually concluding that i had a cracked molar, lucky me, after getting a surprisingly reasonable estimate on the cost as I am self employed and didn’t have insurance at the time I gave the go ahead and we started to drill.
The procedure took about 30 minutes and it certainly was not pleasant but the staff did their best and the Doctor was great.
I was sore when we left and eating was tender for a few days but the procedure worked and absolutely saved our honeymoon.
The staff followed up twice and we actually saw the doctor on the street returning from a morning surf session 3 days later, if you find yourself in a situation like mine and I hope you never do, these folks can help you out. I would give them six stars if I could.

Finally we found a relaxing place with great pediatric dental hygenists. My girls had so much fun at this dentist that they did not want to leave. Mary, the Dental Hygenist, was very gentle, calming, knew how to use ant-​anxiety strategies. I was so impressed at the way she allowed my youngest daughter to play with the little mouth vaccum, the water spout and the little thing that blows air. My youngest daughter was in tears and did not want to go sit in the chair. Mary acted like it was no big deal and she gave us all the time in the world to get acclimated. I did not feel rushed at all. She sang songs to the children and sure enough my youngest and oldest child (3 years and 5 years) were having a blast. The office is very clean and they have a nice play area for kids. My eldest daughter was so comfortable with the staff here that she took off with out me with Mary. Dr. Michael Lutwin, D.D.S., was extreemly sensitive to the children’s feelings and knew exactly how to talk to each one of them. They both ended up with good check ups.
