If you want Indian, go to Saffron instead as this place is just a cheap imitation. The food is alright, but the portions are horribly small and definitely don’t justify the price. Perhaps their buffet is worth it, but I don’t think we’ll be going to this place ever again.

I was visiting for work so am stuck in a hotel so ordered via mr delivery. Wish that website has customer reviews of the food. I ordered a chicken jalfrezi and garlic naan. The naan bread was pretty good. But the jalfrezi. Flavorless. Bland. Chicken was cut into think slices. Doesnt look like real chicken. Almost like processed cut exactly the same. And the veggies are perfectly square and tasted and looked like frozen veggies. Upon reading the other Unilocal reviews i discovered that the frozen veggies thing is an ongoing occurrence. Jalfrezi was also wayyy too creamy. Supposed to be more tomato based instead of cream. Hopefully the business checks their Unilocal reviews and makes some changes. I obviously wont be back as im just passing thru for business.

Worst frozen food. Ordered Chicken Masala and the pieces were exactly square and rectangular shapes… weird. They were frozen at the core. Worst experience… when asked why is it like this, the reply was we cut the chicken pieces that way only… oh ya… really.

The Food here is very authentic and flavorful and the prices are pretty reasonable. The Samosa was really good!

I really don’t have anything to compare the vegetable biryani to since I have only had some homemade biryani in the past from a student whose mom had made it. I thought the biryani was delicious. It had a lot of spices but was not spicy. I live in Chicago(we had two takeout orders just before closing) so I will have to try to find this one somewhere here. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know! Thanks!

Ordered chicken biryani. The waitress was courteous but biryani was old frozen tasteless and most importantly nothing close to a biryani I don’t know how other items are

I hadn’t tried this place yet, despite my absolute love of Indian food, because of the reviews here. I got adventurous and gave it a try. It was OK. It is slightly less expensive than Saffron, but it’s all the same basic Indian American restaurant items. This is fine, but there are two other Indian restaurants in the area so someone needs to do something to stand out. Cumin’s menu is smaller. Saffron wins because of the overall quality is notably better than Cumin or I.C. Cumin actually answered the phone, so right there they win over I. C…which never seem to answer the phone, and no longer has a working website… I ordered Tikka Masala. It came with rice,(Saffron charges $ 3 – 4 for rice with an entrée… seriously) I was surprised when the staff did not ask what spice level I wanted and I debated about making the request anyways, but didn’t. It was ready in 10 minutes, which was appropriate as there was *no* guests there when I got there between 5−6pm… The rice had the typical bits of cumin seeds giving it a nice subtle flavor. It wasn’t super fluffy, but fine. The portion size and amount of chicken was typical. The sauce was more on the tamato-y side than creamy side. It had the typical spices of this dish. The whole time I was eating I was thinking that I wish I had ordered it spicier. It wasn’t hot, but spiced. I would prefer more flavor. The chicken was fine, not buttery soft like at better places. I did spit some pieces of the chicken out that were not palatable. That really ruins a dish for me because I question the quality and am hesitently chewing on each piece waiting for another piece of fat, sinew, or gristle. Ease of the entire process is important to me and it is WAY easier to go here than Saffron with their busy-ness and horrendous parking lot on that gosh-forsaken W Main street trying to turn left out of the parking lot. The staff seemed nice and the whole process was prompt, kind, and professional. The décor is a touch more modern than most other Indian restaurants, but again, they need to stand out somehow. COMEONKZOO, let’s step up the ethinc food game!

According to me, the best place for Indian food in Kalamazoo-portage is the Indian cuisine. Cumin comes a close second but they do not substitute the rice which comes along with entrees with Naan and for me that’s a deal breaker.

The worst indian food ever. The chef doesn’t know what he’s doing. For someone who’s indian like me, i give this food negative review if i could.

Great food and very good customer service the staff is very helpful. The food here reminds me of great indian food from California, I was just visiting Michigan and it’s a hidden gem of an indian restaurant. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the Kalamazoo area!

By far the worst Indian food I have ever had. I ordered chicken curry for delivery and paid well over $ 20 for it, and it was inedible. The chicken was in cubes and the sauce smelled and tasted like spoiled Chef Boyardee. I had to throw the whole thing away. None of it tasted anything like any Indian food I’ve ever had. A huge waste of money, don’t risk it.

I needed something new and Cumin was perfect. Being new to Indian cuisine was not a problem because everything was good. The tandoori chicken especially, with a really nice drawn out spiciness, and beverages that were the perfect compliment. The server and owner were welcoming and friendly also. Thanks Cumin.

I ordered delivery. I found the food unpalatable. I got three bites in before I decided to throw it out. I can’t speak to the service in the restaurant, because it was delivered. However, the quality of the food was far lower than I had expected. I felt as though I wasted a substantial amount of money.

My family and I went here a couple of days ago. The food was nice but I feel it was over priced. All the main dishes came with the side of rice which should be a choice between rice or naan since not all the dishes taste great with rice, like butter chicken or dal makhani. The one thing that was a REAL disappointment was the gulab jamun… unfortunately it was the worst I’ve ever had. The butter chicken tasted good, the dal makhani was ok, the seekh kabab was good, the naan were great and the chilli chicken should be renamed to sweet and sour chicken coz thats basically what it was.

I checked out this Indian restaurant for their lunch buffet. The quality of the food was pretty consistent with most Indian buffets I’ve been to. It should be noted that Kalamazoo already has one Indian buffet that is of superior quality to most Indian buffets. There was a chicken in an orange sauce that was particularly good. I think it was Methi Chicken. The waiter brought freshly baked naan to our table and brought another basket when we ran out of that. The whole experience was a little«do it yourself.» The silverware was in a tray near the buffet. If you didn’t notice and grab it while you were up, you would have to make another trip. I’d like to give this a restaurant another chance, but not the buffet. For the same price, I would rather make the trip to Saffron. I’d be interested to try some of the dinner options here.

This was an ok lunch buffet, but for the same price, I’d rather get the amazing food at Saffron instead! There are about 6 options on the buffet besides the rice. The tandoori chicken is good, but I wasn’t a fan of the curry chicken. The veggies are fine– standard Indian veggies. My favorite was some kind of chicken in a creamy orange-colored sauce. The rice pudding was watery. The restaurant is very small, and the tables are very close together. The décor is sparse. The buffet is labeled with hand-written signs taped onto it. It took a long time for the waiter to bring us our water and then our bills at the end, even though it wasn’t crowded. Most disappointing was the pricing: my sons, ages 6 and 8, were with me, and they were charged the full price. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a buffet where kids pay the same as adults, and in this case, it definitely wasn’t worth it! So, if you are craving Indian food, I suggest you head over to Saffron instead.
