Great for families/people with kids. My son loves coming here. I typically get the fajita salad. The fajita steak is always juicy and tender. The service is quick and friendly. Love the salsa that comes to the table when you first get there. Great for work luncheons/lunch breaks.

Los amigos has me coming time and time again. It’s very reasonably priced, you get a lot of food, their margaritas are authentic & cheap, the wait staff is attentive but not overly attentive, the atmosphere is everything you’d want in a Mexican restaurant, they give you unlimited chips and salsa… do I need to go on? Their shredded chicken that they use in burritos, quesadillas, etc is DELICIOUS. I can’t wait to go again. The only negative thing I can comment on is that I had to wait for a long time to get my food once, but I wasn’t in a hurry and it wasn’t a big deal.

Big menu. Not high end but good food. Service seemed slow but then the place was packed.

Such a disappointment. Beef burrito was flavorless. Lots of refried beans and rice, which also could have used more spice. I don’t see myself going back.

We come here often, and although sometimes service can be slow, the food is amazing, and service is only slow because they are so busy! Not a bad problem to have. 2 margaritas(sometimes for each of us…) and an entrée to split – portions are large! Thank you always for the excellent time!

Less than one star order mango margarita on the rocks, and got a frozen one with a fly in it! I added a pic to profile page. Absolutly nasty will never go again.

Good food, quickly. You get more than enough food for the price. Free chips and salsa when you sit down. The drink menu has different varieties of margaritas, tequila, and other drinks. The waiter, as well as others, are always checking in the table to make sure you have everything you need.

Solid restaurant-style Mexican food. The margarita was pricey but good. Other reviews have complained about service, but I can say that it was OUTSTANDING! Chips and salsa right away, asked us if we were ready before we were(I was taking a while…), and he checked up on us a few times. The food came out fast and the order was perfect. It seems like many of these reviewers went to another restaurant!

Wasn’t authentic tasting at all ! Although t was inexpensive, I felt it was overcrowded and the food wasn’t so great

Great atmosphere and food, nice sized portions and well priced. The staff is very friendly, the food almost always comes fast and you receive free, warm chips and salsa to snack on.

Poor service. Our server took verbal orders, messed up the orders, disregarding our request that we all were vegetarians. He also had an attitude that was passive aggressive. Finally we just ate without enjoying our food. Would not visit this joint again.

Now I’m going to be a little bias. I grew up in a traditional Hispanic home where we cooked our own food from scratch every day. But this place isn’t too bad. It defiantly has a lot of American accents. I got the burrito grande with a side of beans and rice. Beans were creamy and thick just the way I like them. The rice was a bit bland for my taste. And that burrito whew, HUGE. I was a little disappointed with the red sauce they put on top of the burrito. It didn’t have much of a kick to it. The pre chips and salsa they complementary offer where fresh, hot and crispy, made just for us. All in all I would go back just to try something a little different maybe, who knows.

This is me and my bf go to place when we are just looking for fast service good drinks and good food. Is it authentic? Not really but that’s okay with me. I like authentic of course, but my bf loves this place. The one thing I get there all the time is the Margarita Los Amigos. It is my absolute favorite drink. If anyone doesn’t know, it’s a margarita with a Corona beer bottle filling up your margarita(if that makes sense). It’s a 8.50 drink but I think it’s totally worth it for how strong they make the margaritas and also adding a full beer. My bf loves getting the tamal. I love them myself too but that is just his ultimate favorite. Fun atmosphere and it’s usually busy but I never really have to wait for a table.

Big portions? Yes! Friendly service? Yes! Fast service? Yes! Good atmosphere? Yes! Tasty food? Yes! Clean? Yes! «Authentic» Mexican food? Probably not. I usually get the Enchiladas Rancheras, cheese enchiladas topped with very tender pork done with peppers and onions. I always request green sauce rather than red, and they are always accommodating, unlike some other Mexican places in the area who refuse to substitute sauces. In fact, our party requested a number of extras/changes, and it was cheerfully done. Food is hot, and one $ 11 entrée feeds me for 3 meals. Very good deal.

Food was very white-washed/americanized. The taco salad was literally just lettuce, tomatoes, and ground beef, on a tortilla shell, nothing fancy. The chips and tortillas tasted weird to me, like soap almost. Not good.

Ate here several months ago, wasn’t great but didn’t write a review — thought I’d give them a second chance. Well, the second chance was only marginally better. My first indication that it wasn’t going to be great was no wait on a Saturday night — place was less than half full at 7:30 pm. Service was mediocre to poor. Waitress was okay, but you have to pay at the register and we had to wait a LONG time for someone to take our money. The person at the register ahead of us said he’d been standing there for quite awhile and had yet to be acknowledged. The best part of the meal, the free chips.

Los Amigos is a wonderful family restaurant. The building itself is well decorated, clean, and comfortable. However, it is only when one steps behind the veneer of the restaurant that the magic truly happens. And yes, the magic is the food and drink. This establishment has delicious entrees, chips and salsa that come with every meal, and a variety of drinks. The staff, too, is wonderful. All of the times I’ve been here, whether picking up my food or dining in, I have had a wonderful experience. Kind, courteous, and charming, I believe Los Amigos has some of the best servers in Kalamazoo. If you want to know what to get, I would highly suggest the chicken chimichanga dinner. It is prepared well and the rice it to die for. On top of it all, it only costs ten dollars! If you want good, affordable Mexican food in Kalamazoo, head on over to Los Amigos. You will not be disappointed.

I may not be the pickiest eater but my wife and I love this place! For me, it is more than just the taste but the service and experience. I think this place has some of the best servers ever. They are always so quick, polite, and energetic(for people’s birthdays at least). It is always a big plus when they give you free chips and salsa which their salsa is delicious especially when i add some hot sauce to it. I have only had a few of the items on the menu but i have not been disappointed with any of them. They are huge portions and such a reasonable price. My wife and i can eat there for $ 20 easily(no drinks included) and we always take some of it home with us. I was surprised when i saw some of the negative reviews this place had on here so that is why i ended up writing a review because i really do like this place. As i said in the beginning, i am pretty easy to please taste wise and not picky so i cant tell you if this is pure, real mexicana food but for my wife and i — its great!

From reading the other reviews, Los Amigos seems like it can be hit or miss. I found it to be good Americana Mexican. I was brought here by friends who said it was their go-to for Mexican in Kalamazoo. The tortilla chips and salsa they brought to the table were standard. The salsa was okay, there was not much or a kick to it though. We shared a cheese and chorizo sausage dip appetizer. While oily from the sausage, it was really good. We all ordered combination plates and had a variety of tacos, enchiladas and tostadas. The rice that came with was better than standard, though the beans were the average accompanied side to the main items type. The portion was huge. Ever thing we had had flavor, nothing was dried out. We had great service. There was a mix up with the order and the waiter had it corrected quickly.
