Love this place. Really good beer and a great relaxing atmosphere. Like a cool dive /brewery /coffee shop feel. Worth a visit and revisit!

Fantastic beers, but the place needs a good«SCRUBBING». The beers are delicious and the service is usually excellent. On my last visit, had the Not an IPA and the Peanut Butter Porter. They were both excellent. The Peanut Butter Porter was a HUGE surprise – was not expecting to like it, and got a taste just out of curiosity – it was delicious! I have been there on three different occasions and have thoroughly enjoyed all the beers I have tried, but the cleanliness of the space and bathrooms(YUCK!) keeps me from coming back more often. NOTE: this is THE reason I cannot give it 4 or 5 stars.

They make a pretty good Peanut Butter Porter. It had delicious flavors. They had the brew tags so it made more of a set to go to if you collect the brew tags. The owner had a great Dane that was also there with him which was awesome. They didn’t have any pint glasses or Growlers at the moment which was a little sad but they did a can that they could fill and seal that was cool. There isn’t any parking so good luck on finding that, I had to park in a hotel area. Other than those things it was really good filled with really good people and the staff was friendly.

Great brewhouse downtown! I suggest the doublehighPA or Dr Steve’s. Two amaZing beers to start with while you read the menu and expand! Every time i try a new beer I Love It! Stop down here when your downtown! Especially Sunday nights for comedy!

Great atmosphere! The bartender was super friendly and easy going. The owner was there as well. he seemed like pretty cool too. His baby Great Dane was an added bonus as well. We will definitely come back to check out the music!

Awesome brewery and cozy, laid back spot to hang out. The beer is very thoughtful, unique, and tastes great. Also very dog friendly which was fun.

I Accidentally discovered this brewery while walking back to my hotel from another local brewery. I tasted a few beers, but greatly preferred their double ipa. I was pleasantly surprised to see the house dog, captain stooby. He’s a 194lb Great Dane. He mostly lays on his bed, but occasionally gets up to bark at the band which is hilarious. Given that the hotel I use when in Kalamazoo is about 100 yards from the Brewery, I see myself making frequent trips.

Came here on the suggestion of a coworker who is a homebrewer and beer connoisseur. The fact that they have a resident dog, a Great Dane named Captain Stooby, didn’t make it a difficult decision for us dog-lovers! We were not disappointed. Rupert’s is super casual– it’s got kind of a grungy/divey vibe to it. The bathroom is chock-full of some very interesting graffiti. It’s a great place to grab a brew and catch up with some old(or new) friends. There’s something cozy about this place– you’ll be chatting and drinking and not even notice the hours fly by. We tried a flight, and they were all pretty good. The peanut butter porter was delicious. Definitely worth a try. The service was fantastic. The bartenders are really good about getting to everyone as quickly as they can without rushing or making you feel rushed. Our bartender told us about the(free) beer passport– something that they had neglected to mention at either Arcadia or Bells’. If you visit all of the breweries in the passport, you can get a(free) bottle opener. Kind of cool if you’re already planning on visiting all of these local brewers. If you are in the area, Rupert’s is worth a visit.

Limited on food options and parking but great for beer and entertainment. Music throughout the week through Saturday and live comedy every Sunday with talent from all over Michigan Ohio and Indiana make for a great atmosphere to enjoy some of their great craft brewed beers. Also a giant dog! Come have a peanut butter porter sit on the couch, pet the dog and relax.

Rupert’s Brew House is interesting in the sense that it’s grungy and has it’s own vibe that attracts it’s own crowd. The night I went there, there was a heavy metal band playing(nothing wrong with that) but you literally could not hear the bartenders or speak to anyone else(which defeats the purpose of being at a bar). On top of that, I didn’t think their beers were on par with some of the other breweries in Kalamazoo. Overall, I’m glad I tried it, but it’s not a place I would frequent.

This place was super chill! This was my first time here and I’ll be back. I love the cozy atmosphere. They have good live music and cozy seating. They won me over with sweet Great Dane that just chills wherever. Great addition to Kalamazoo!

If everybody liked the same thing, there’d only be one of each, but the thing is, there are many ways to craft good beer, and many ways to craft a good bar. Rupert’s Brew House has figured out how to craft both good beer and a good atmosphere to serve it in. There’s a real«dive bar» vibe to Rupert’s, even though it’s located in what was an old pharmacy. The low light and low ceilings, the wooden furniture, the cluttered bar, and the pool tables in back give it a laid back comfortable feel. The beer is top notch though, especially the Double HiPA. I arrived by bicycle, and had to park a little ways down out back, but not too far. The bar back was friendly and personable. I felt welcomed, and got a big kick out of watching the lanky ol’ Great Dane stroll on in and redefine sprawl for all the world! I liked Rupert’s, and I’ll be back in when I’m in Kalamazoo. I recommend giving it a try!

Beer is good but the atmosphere is nothing to write home about. A plus for having a resident dog too. Captain Scoobs is awesome! Also their bathroom was disgusting and that saying a lot since I just spent 4 days in the backwoods with an outhouse. I don’t think the sink had been cleaned in over a month.

Rupert’s came into the scene and blew Kalamazoo out of the water! Before Rupert’s I wasn’t a big fan of beer, but their home crafted brews have changed my mind completely! There’s always something going on in this bar! Wed night open mic music, Sunday night free comedy!

We ordered a couple of flights of beer to taste. About a third of the beers were pretty good, a third decent but not outstanding, and a third were strange and not really that good. Peanut butter porter? WHY? It seems like it could be a decent place to hang out, but we left when a bunch of dudebros showed up and started being super loud, drunk, and obnoxious. The beer menu was pretty hard to read, too.

My first time at Rupert’s was for their comedy show on a Sunday night. It was a little empty, but it was a Sunday, so it makes sense. Regardless of reviews I’ve read about this bar, I love the ‘dive-bar’ feel. There’s something almost comforting about it; I don’t hate it. Often-times even when a bar is empty, I find bar tenders find a reason to ignore you or make you wait for your service, but the bartender– who also happened to be the owner, did no such thing. He was prompt, and has a sense of humor I doubt too many people pick up on. It is perfect for this bar. The Dr Steves IPA is a great beer, and so is the peanut butter porter. My friends have raved about that beer, and they were on point with their reviews. It is a smooth porter, that has a peanut butter flavor that isn’t totally all in your business– just as I like it! I’m looking forward to trying more of his beers, and makings way back for more peanut butter porter! Also, the bar dog is the best. I love bars that have their token dog! He keeps to himself, but he is nearly 200lbs, so he doesn’t go unnoticed!

Rupert’s is where the heart is. First, the history: 773 W Michigan Ave… as the Kalamazoo Public Library so eloquently stated it’s a lifelong place where people like to congregate, regardless of the type of business within. Second, the now: Rupert’s is the kind a brewery that has a soul. A previous review nailed it by saying«come for the beer and stay for the atmosphere». I also find this statement to be interchangeable. Many a times I have come in to Rupert’s and enjoyed a space full of life, community, and culture… and many a times I have come to Rupert’s and enjoyed a quite evening with friends in a mostly empty space and stayed for hours. I wish I could comment more on the beer itself, but I started with their Not So Peanut Butter Porter and I have a hard time not ordering one after another of the same.

This is the kind of place that I would love to visit more regularly just because I really enjoy the microbrew culture in Kalamazoo. My idea of a good time is waltzing from pub to pub, partaking in a flight at each with my wife, and mixing with the crowd of other patrons that share a similar interest. The trouble here isn’t that their beer isn’t good, but the place itself has seen better days. The building itself is somewhat of a historical icon in Kalamazoo and I enjoy the nostalgia that brings to the table… but the dive bar feel here goes a bit extreme dive and it almost feels ghostly. Not to mention there is a huge dog walking around here that sometimes feels a little bit odd.

Delicious microbrew! My favorite is the Dr. Steve’s I.P.A and my husband loves the Peanut butter Porter. Very hip atmosphere.
