Cool little dive-bar type place in K-Zoo. Stopped here before a Western tailgate and had a craft beer — what other kind of beer will you drink around here? It’s like a craft paradise. There are pool tables, a big bar area with multiple TV’s for good sports viewing, an area to play arcade game. The only food I ate here was an appetizer called Pita Pan, which is essentially baked bread with scallions, tomatoes on top of it. Eh, it was OK. Nothing special as others made it out to be. Still, I bet this place gets fun at night. It has that feel to it.

I’ve been a loyal customer to this bar for damn near 10 years. It was a mainstay for all of my friends through college and an important stop during my friend’s college party. Unfortunately, one night killed it. Our 27-year-old friend was denied entry because his legal and validated I.D. was. confusing to bar staff and management. Instead of a final drink or two, we were subjected to calling early cabs on our bachelor party simply because of a confusing I.D. As much as Ups was a wonderful bar that reminded me of my college days, this will be the last time I make a visit to this half-run establishment.

Bartenders have no concept of customer service. The establishment has a number of IPAs, my preference, but cannot describe any of them nor provide a sample, cuz it’s against the rules. No smiles. No friendly chatter. Patrons have to provide both a driver’s license ASWELLAS a credit card to run a tab… first time in all my travels that such a ‘rule’ existed. Will not be back!

Oh «Ups». Place used to be called«the ash tray» when Michigan allowed smoking indoors. This is not a place to get dressed up for but, cheap food, cheap drinks and a story to tell the next day? Priceless Things to eat: nachos and pita pan!

All the people who come in are so friendly. None of the«rough» crowd. Bartenders and staff are friendly

I started coming here to perform on the Boomerang Club side, though I began frequenting the Up and Under side more often to meet people during the day for a game of pool or a couple beers and play in the jukebox. The Boomerang side also hosts a stand up comedy night and karaōke. The waitstaff is friendly and, while it collectively may not be the most knowledgeable when it comes to their beers, provides enough information about specials to keep you from constantly checking the signage around the place. I’ve never had a problem ordering even when it is extremely busy and I’ve always been taken care of, save one time where my waitress forget a request. The pool tables are alright and there is ring toss available for S’s n’ G’s. On the patio there is a pair of cornhole boxes and a set of bags. Not my number one go-to, but overall a good place to meet a couple friends for drinks and games.

Came here today because a friend works here. needless to say, she provided great service ;) though I hear some of the other waitresses are not as nice. Happy hour gives you 1.75 on bud, miller, etc. Pretty good price, in my opinion. also got a vegetable fajita, which was unexpectedly delicious. Lots of TVs here; each booth has its own little TV. not sure if they’re actually used. I’ll be back, and not just for my friend.

Nice bartender, great bloody Mary’s, great prices. Food was not satisfying. Tomato soup was cold and clumpy, grilled cheese was so hard, and the chicken sandwich came out completely wrong. The meat platter was actually good though.

My grad school friends and I come up to Ups at least twice a week to dance and have a few drinks. We always had a great time up until the last few weeks when they decided that they would start playing wedding music instead of new music. When we talked to the manager he blatantly told us that when they were playing newer music it was drawing in a crowd that was«too urban». Unacceptable!

My wife and I love this bar. It just has a good feel to it. The food is good bar fare, but much cheaper than you’ll find down the road at Olde Peninsula. I really like the assortment of burgers that you can get as veggie burgers. On our last visit we saw that they have made a serious commitment to good Michigan beer. On a side note, you will not find a better collection of great local beer than what you will find in Michigan right now. They had new taps for Saugatuck Brewing Company, a couple of Dark Horse Brews, I think there was a Schmoz tap. Honestly it was too much to try in one setting, but wow was it nice to see.

My favorite bar in Kalamazoo. This place is great because of the crowd. Most of the people that hang out here are easy to get along with. You won’t run into the typical«Firehouse Crowd» of popped collars and douchebags. The food is great and they just added ten more beers on tap(30 total I think). The patio is perfect for warm days and they even have an outside tiki bar. You never have to wait long for a pool table or a beer. Add that to $ 5.50 pitchers and 35 cent wings during Detroit games and you can’t lose. The wait staff is as great as the group of regulars that frequent this place. It’s the closest thing to Cheers that Kalamazoo has.

I thought this was a kick a** place that I definitely would have hung out in college… in fact, it’s exactly the same type of bar that I worked at in college plus some pool tables. Besides the smoke,(I just can’t get used to the way I smell when I leave) the beer was a great price, the nachos were tasty and the soup. oh my, the soup! It was the«Sydney soup» with shrimp & crab creaminess. I will probably dream about it. Can’t wait to stop in again on another try to KZoo!

Pretty much anyone can come here and fit in. College kids, hippies, yuppies, sports fans, creepy old guys, etc. Good drink specials, cool bartenders, lots of TVs, and a nice new outdoor patio with a tiki bar.

Used to go here and clear them out of Mickey’s grenades, Wednesday nights. Shuffleboard, pool, decent employee talent.

I love the $ 2.50 super tall boys of Bud Heavies. And the 35 cent wings that only come in orders of 10 and aren’t that great but aren’t all that bad either. The bartenders and wait staff are super friendly if not always crazy aware of what the specials might or might not be or if you were only kidding when you ordered(long story). Kind of seems like it’s striding the line between townie bar and university bar so if you’re more one than the other you should still be alright coming here.
