Have a breakfast menu the size of a book is usually a good sign that you don’t mess around when it comes to food. The wait was non exsistent, even though the parking lot was packed. We were happily greeted by a manager and sat down in a flash. The time it took to receive our orders almost mirrored the seating! Wow. Overall, the breakfast was good. The dishes were just missing a little touch of soul. I’d like to see the dishes has just a little more character via flavor and authenticity.

Our party of six arrived this SUN at peak time of 11am. The place was full but we had no wait as the flow of people thru was steady and quick. First time in my 50 years I couldn’t finish my breakfast. Ordered the corned beef skillet which came with four eggs(all menu items have extra eggs than what the menu lists). Omlettes were huge, likely four eggs. You can get a «scramble» that has only three eggs. My daughter ordered the stuffed French toast and it looked like a cake! The menu is huge so no matter how many in your group, everyone will find something they like. For those who rate a breakfast place by the bacon, this is a five star. Crisp, flavorful and not greasy or chewy. The food is fresh and tasty, not just huge. Service was fast, friendly and efficient. I’m coming here for breakfast anytime I’m in Kzoo.

It’s crowded for a reason. I’ve never had anything I didn’t like. What’s more the menu is expansive. Unlike other breakfast places, you always have GREAT wait staff. I used to be a server, and can honestly say they have some of the best service I’ve ever seen.

We’ve been here twice now, and each time has been fantastic. Our servers were attentive, the food was fantastic(and PLENTIFUL), and everything was brought out quickly. The entire environment feels like you’re part of a huge extended family, and it’s incredibly welcoming. Can’t recommend this place enough!

My daughter and I try a different restaurant every Saturday morning. The earlier, the better. This was my first time here, deciding to try it out after hearing such good things. Yes, portions are huge and service is fast. But, if you value quality over quantity, you might want to pass. Food wasn’t bad, but nothing special either. I left more food on my plate than some places serve. Sausage was overly greasy, and the French toast was plain and simple. Not the«best in town» like the waitress told me 3 – 4 times. It was also the most expensive place we have been to yet. 20.00 for an adult breakfast(special #2) and a child’s breakfast. You can definitely get a better breakfast for less elsewhere.

So delicious and super fast! We’ve never had to wait long for food at this restaurant. The first few times we went, it was a little bumpy with my eggs(raw with white/clear runny when I asked for over-hard). We didn’t return for about a year and then gave it another shot –the past three times we’ve gone, it’s has been phenomenal! I’ll admit, I haven’t tested them on their over-hard eggs because I’m leery –I typically get the country fried steak skillet with scrambled eggs. Description: a generous portion of potato hash with onion and green pepper topped with a country fried steak, sausage gravy and eggs. It comes with toast, amazing pancakes, or French toast. Come prepared for delicious gluttony.

One of the best places in Kalamazoo to get breakfast. Very generous portions, thus you might want to consider splitting an order if you have a medium to light appetite. UPDATE, 3÷7÷16: I have had breakfast here since the owners’ recent brush with the law in a civil lawsuit involving its workers’ pay. I am *very* pro-worker, a long-time Democrat, and I belong to a labor union. I’ve decided to let my review stand, unchanged. The food is still just as good. The portions are still generous, and the service is still and always was very good. I believe the owners were rightfully challenged and have paid the price for their wrongdoing, with both money and loss of reputation. I believe the slate has been cleared, and it is time to move forward. Anyone who avoids the restaurant because of the incident hurts the workers more than the owners.

Great food, great service. This place is really an industrial engineer’s dream – it is run so efficiently that it makes you wonder what other restaurants are doing wrong. The portions are huge, so we usually end up splitting a combo of some sort. Don’t let the line at the door scare you; if they say the wait is five minutes, you can take that to the bank!

I had been to Sophia’s several times before and returned with friends, voraciously hungry for breakfast. We were seated and given menus quickly, but the waitress did not return to take our order for ATLEAST5 minutes. The food came out in good time, and was delicious. I had the bacon, onion, and tomato omelette with hash browns and pancakes. The hash browns were a bit burned on the bottom, but the omelette was delicious and the pancakes were wonderfully fluffy. The waitress brought us boxes when we were finished, but then we had to wait another 5 – 10 minutes for our check! The cashier was gruff, abrupt, and rather rude. Overall, delicious food but SLOW service.

This was a great treat on our road trip! The food was so fresh and tasty! Service was great. We had a new waitress but she was thorough so that our order can be just right and it was beyond our expectations! I had the vegetable skillet without egg and a side of corn-beef. I don’t know why I chose 4 stars. Waiting for a 5 star experience to see if it can be beat!

Good breakfasts and dinners. Great servers, too. Sometimes, if your name is Sophia, you’ll get free stuff.

Worth the wait. This is the place to be before noon on any given Saturday or Sunday. The menu is so extensive that everyone in your party will be able to eat. The service was outstanding. The waitress suggested a way to work the menu so that I could maximize my number of foods for a lower price(I had such a difficult time deciding between breakfast and lunch that I needed both). I highly recommend this joint before you hit the breweries.

Great food, good service. Classic diner atmosphere… funny thing, you can order 2 eggs… or four eggs… but they won’t do 3… waitress couldn’t really explain it, but the prices are so reasonable, I wasn’t going to quibble. Co-worker and I had some good chuckles over it though. Easy access to highway, close to WMU, a good choice

Don’t expect to be wooed here, their goal is to fill you up to your eyeballs with yummy breakfast noms and then roll you out the door. Your Greek mother-in-law would be proud. Every time I come to Sophia’s I leave happy and SO full! They’re portions are very generous! Almost too many delicious options for breakfast and brunch. Not as greasy as most breakfast spots. It’s easy to make healthy choices here too, but you probably won’t want to after looking through the menu. The restaurant itself is actually huge. Kind of feels like it used to be a Big Boy maybe? Anyway, lots of seating for small and large groups! Prices are very reasonable! Belgian waffles are fluffy and fabulous.

Well managed, good service, clean and well prepared food. However, if your going to have«House of Pancakes» in the title of your business, then your hotcakes should be something special. Upgrade the batter and syrup quality from your supplier. Sophia’s pancakes once you butter, syrup them and cut a typical wedge with your knife and stick a fork in it they fall apart. Too dry! More importantly the syrup has a flavor but I’m not sure what it is… Licorice? If it’s supposed to be maple, not even close. As a suggestion, go to Meijers and pick up Krusteaz brand buttermilk pancake mix and a bottle of Meijers brand pancake syrup butter flavored(cheap) and do a taste test. On the plus side, the whipped real butter is a rare and appreciated touch.

Just left and I am so crazy full! Serving sizes are HUGE and delicious! Even though the place Was super busy because it was a Sunday morning it was quick getting a seat and getting our food after we ordered. Our server was very busy but still super attentive. A great place to visit if you are in town!

Good place to start off your morning. For is reasonably priced and it’s good. The only drawback is on certain days and times you may have to wait up to 20 minutes to be seated.

So if you’re a breakfast fan and enjoy a stack of pancakes as big as a house, then this is your place to come. I can’t say as I’ve ever left hungry from Sophia’s and the kids really seem to enjoy the spread they put on. I’m not certain that the omelet is the best that I have had, but it is still pretty tasty. Sophia’s used to be a Big Boy years ago and not much has really changed décor-wise. Also, don’t plan on visiting them for dinner, because you’d be highly upset to find that they aren’t open then :( All-in-all, pretty good breakfast fare and a not too expensive. Spend a nice Sunday morning with the family here.

Excellent breakfast place! Huge portions, and everything is fresh-baked from scratch. The waitress who took care of us was really, really friendly, and the whole staff was hospitable and accommodating when we had to wait an hour for our ride to pick us up. I had the omelette and loved it, especially the stuffed french-toast with strawberry glaze that came as a side, and my friend had the simple 2-egg breakfast, and loved the blueberry-topped pancakes that came with. Their pancakes are unique — all from scratch, no buttermilk, and are lighter and airier than most pancakes.
