Although this place is tiny; the food is amazing. Well worth the wait, especially when you’re hungover. It was one of my favorite stops in college.

This place is awesome! It’s super tiny so there will be a wait but it’s so worth it. Everything on the menu sounded phenomenal. The servers are really friendly. I got the Merrimack Omelet. It was insanely good, spicy, savory. I don’t really eat bread but the toast was homemade, clearly. I had to take a few bites. It was delicious. I definitely would return any time I was in the area to get some brunch. The only downer is they don’t serve alcohol.

The best place for breakfast in town. Their bandana bread is to die for and there menu is exciting and unique. I love taking friends who have never been before and getting them hooked. They are impossible to dislike.

Crowded and hard to get into, but the food is awesome! They should expand the kitchen and start doing take out, they would get a lot more business.

Very friendly staff. Food was excellent but could have had larger portions. Vegans take note: there are a few stirfry’s on their menu but these are pretty much the only things you can eat in the whole place. That being said, this

The portions were quite large and I couldn’t finish my sandwich! I got the Davidstown freighter sandwich which has: two fried eggs, prosciutto, goat cheese, sautéed onion, spinach, tomato and red pepper aioli on sourdough bread. It was amazing! Love love love the bread and all the ingredients were nicely balanced. The reuben was also very good. I love how toasty their bread is. The banana bread french toast is very thick. Maybe a little too thick since it doesn’t really absorb any egg/milk mixture. Rather than a french toast it tastes more like banana bread topped with nuts and caramel. I ordered a double but a single would have been plenty! I didn’t mind taking that second piece home to eat it the next day :9 I came here around 1:30 am and it wasn’t too busy. However, as we were leaving after 2 am, a crowd of people started coming in. It’s definitely a good spot for late night eats. Maybe not the healthiest for late night eating, but sooooooooooooo good!

Drive by this place almost daily going to work, and finally stopped in. First impression: very small, waiting area is on the stair case going up to the restaurant. It has a hipster vibe once you get seated. The menu has a mix of vegan and regular dishes. Great selection on the menu which made it hard to choose what to eat. I decided in the Rickard Royal… a delicious breakfast burger is the best way to describe it. Very pleased with the experience. I will be back.

Nestled above a bakery, it’s a cozy little spot off the beaten path. The menu is fairly extensive, and it is very accommodating to vegan and vegetarian diets! The décor is a little bare, and not contemporary. Service was good, and my veggie burger was spicy and huge. The prices are fair and I’ll be back again if I’m in the area.

Where do I start… Venue– Warm and welcoming though the dinning area is located on the second floor of the building. «Waiting on line” — it’s cold outside and if there’s a line? IT’S THATGOOD meaning it’s worth of waiting. Estimated time 15 – 25 minutes. Service– Prompt, attentive and friendly. Price point– Way better than California Suggestion– Souvenir shop: because I asked our server JOHN which by the way… super awesome dude! If I could purchase a T-shirt to bring it back home(Bay Area) and he said«no, we don’t have a souvenir shop or online website store.» Will I recommend? Yes! and I will come back if and when I visit Michigan.

Delicious Sandwich Eaten «The Mast», a sandwich consisting of tofu thinly sliced and marinated in greek herbs, topped with fresh spinach, goat cheese, and kalamata olives, on marble rye, was fantastic. Sweet potato fries were just right, crispy on the outside, tender and sweet on the inside, a nice balance of salty and Sweet. 2 teens had grilled cheese, pancakes, eggs, though a boring order, they were satisfied. Black bean burger with red pepper aioli and fries was deemed good but not great by this dude I hang out with. We liked our coffee. Afterwards stopped downstairs and got a «dirty chai», and 2 delicious cookies. We went on a Wednesday at 3:30 during winter break and there was no wait. That sandwich was so good that I plan to try to make it at home.

Decent food, but the long ass wait on the weekends is not worth it. It’s definitely on the noisier side. Parking lot gets full a lot, so you have to drive around to find other parking. I’ve liked the banana bread french toast, burger, and Queen Anne’s omelet. Lots of vegetarian offerings, and I do like that they offer a variety of proper vegetables and not just typical peppers and onions like other places. On a non-busy weekday, I’d give this place four stars, but since I typically come here during brunch rush, three stars for the insufferable wait.

I’d give this place 4.75 stars if i could so i’ll just round up to 5 I always like to judge a breakfast place by the quality of their eggs benedict. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the hollandaise was good and the bread was perfect. To my surprise they had 4 different eggs benedict though no classic eggs benedict but i won’t hold that against them. My wife ordered the butcher’s block benedict(steak) while i ordered the modern benedict(pulled pork). My wife claims there were some veggies missing on her plate and the meat was a little tough(should’ve been medium or medium-rare) but i think she’s full of it, i had some and it was delicious. The modern benedict was nice and the pulled pork addition was nice albeit garlicky(I made sure to french my wife immediately afterwards with a garlicky breath). The seasoned red potatoes raved by other reviews were overseasoned and slightly overcooked but the fresh sweet potato fries were amazing! The zucchini bread which comes from downstairs had a pleasant clover and nutmeg taste in it and worth ordering as a side. Service was nice though specials were never discussed. I hopped downstairs for a mocha and a «you know what I like» from the wife to bring back upstairs. I returned with a black coffee and a stare from the wife saying that’s not what i wanted but she drank it anyway because she found it delicious and I ultimately knew she was in the mood for that coffee despite her claiming otherwise and now trying to figure out where Fourth Coast Café gets their coffee. We’ll be back.

Living in Kalamazoo for almost nine years now I have no clue how I hadn’t previously eaten at the crows nest. We visited for a Friday night dinner and my wife had the black and bleu chicken while I had the El Cubano. I don’t know that I’ve had that many Cubans, but it was without a doubt the most delicious sandwich I’ve ever had! Great flavors combined with fresh, homemade ingredients. Had I not had the cuban, my wife’s sandwich would have been delicious but the Cuban was so amazing that everything else was incomparable. In addition I had a side of pita and humus. Another delicious item, great fresh made humus and a warm pita — I almost cause myself licking the bowl :). My wife had a cup of exploded baked potato soup — again a delicious dish that if highly recommend. Service was excellent with our waitress visiting haut that right amount to make sure we had whatever we needed without being pushy. Great service, great food, what’s not to love! we’ll be back soon.

How can a greasy spoon be this good. I mean, really… I haven’t ever experienced it! I have to admit, the biscuits and gravy are so damn good that I’ve had them each time that I’ve visited. The gravy is clearly home-made, and really peppery… just the way that I like it! They are open 24 hours, and so far I have not had a wait when coming here. If you haven’t been here yet… go.

The food here is amazing! The best biscuits and gravy in town, maybe in the state. It’s got a super hipster vibe, and I don’t even think they own a microwave. They serve breakfast all day. Just plan on waiting for a long time in line, on a flight of stairs, during peak hours-‘it’s small, and service can be a tad slow. They sometimes seat by group size too– so if you are a party of two, and a table that can fit three of four opens up, and if others don’t want to sit with you– they will go to people who arrived after you and seat them instead— which can be hard to watch given that you have to watch them walk up the stairs past you from the bottom of the steps, to take«your» table, and then watch them eat :(also– no booze, so don’t expect a mimosa with brunch.

I’m only updating here because the thought of how this certain situation was handled, still upsets me. Me opinion of the food itself hasn’t changed — it’s amazing. However. My kids and I went there a few weeks after my first visit, and upon receiving our food, I spotted a hair in between the bacon on my daughters plate. I let one of the girls know and she took my plate, and SHE apologized. My actual waiter never even mentioned it, didn’t apologize, didn’t offer a discount, nothing… I was not looking for a discount, at all, but I work at a local café(my parents own it) and if something like that ever happened, I would be sure to go out of my way to make it right. Apologize, offer a discount, ect. I get that even with proper hair nets and such, things can happen, no big deal… but it’s how you handle the situation that matters.

Raise your hand if you love breakfast for dinner…*raises hand!* This little hipster place is on top of a coffee shop. The Unilocal link is kinda confusing, but I found it and headed upstairs to enjoy my breakfast at 6pm. It wasn’t super busy but all of the really good tables were taken, i.e. The ones by the big windows. I was seated by a little side window, which was fine since it was just me. I had scooped out the menu online before hand so I knew what I wanted. I ordered a green tea and the Sleeping Bear omelette, but requested 2 substitutions… switch the Gorgonzola cheese for feta and switch fresh tomatoes for sun dried tomatoes. I told my server, Steve, to surprise me on my bread choice because they all sounded amazing. He mentioned they were known for their banana bread but he liked the zucchini bread as he is not a walnut fan. My food came out very quickly and I was pleasantly surprised when they had 3 options for hot sauce(which of course I asked for all three!). After tasting my omelette, I added a little sriracha on the side. My eggs also came with seasoned red potatoes and let me tell you, they were the star of the show! The seasoning is perfect and they are cooked just right. SO good! I am giving 4 stars because I was disappointed that they made the omelette with the Gorgonzola cheese instead of the feta I requested(and it was written on the ticket) and the banana bread was a bit dry. On my next visit, I think I will try the sourdough or the cinnamon raisin bread and an egg white omelette!

What an adorable little spot in KZoo! This restaurant meets café sorta joint boasts and eclectic décor and a large menu. Soups/salads/sandwiches and burgers seem to be the name of the game here, with lots of veggie and vegan options, too. Super dug my greek salad, and the tomato soup was on point too. Our server was not only attentive and friendly, but genuinely personable as well. Super nice guy! Bottom line: great for lunch if you should find yourself in the ‘zoo.

The Crow’s Nest is a delightful little«upstairs» café in a nice little niche of businesses near the Vine Street Neighborhood… This was my first visit to the nest for their lunch options instead of breakfast. My friend and I got a table no problem. However, it did take a while to be greeted by a server. Someone did eventually come over & the service was friendly and consistent from there on out. I’ll let you decide for yourself what to order off the menu instead of going in to a lot of detail about what we got– but it is worth mentioning that The Cubano, their spin on a classic cuban, uses an Onion Kaiser Roll instead of traditional flat white bread. Not gonna lie, I was a bit thrown off here folks… Regardless, the most important thing is the middle, and that was stupid delicious. The roll was good too– it was just a little more bread than I wanted bite off for this style ‘wich! Most of the dishes boast unique combinations of ingredients, you can tell they put a lot of thought into what they serve. All of their food is high quality and fresh– even their side salad is impressive, man. A special shout out to their pita and hummus! You know you have good pita when you resort to rotating between dipping it in the hummus and eating it plain.
