Fourth Coast is an eclectic café under the Crow’s Nest(stellar restaurant!). I love the location and ambiance inside. The barista’s are always nice and you can tell they take pride in their craft. I’ve had many drinks at this location and all have been good. They also always have a nice selection of desserts like muffins, scones, and breads. A must stop if in the area.

Loveeeeee the coast mocha from there only made by one barista. The others seem not to listen to your specific order.

Once upon a time, in my youth, this place was like my home away from home. Maybe now that I’m older I just don’t get the crowd, but the baristas were flat out rude, the parking lot was crowded and people were parked sticking out to where I could barely pull out of my parking space without hitting another car. I asked the barista for a frozen mocha and I got a cup of what appeared to be a milkshake full of coffee grounds. She seemed very confused when I asked for the frozen mocha directly from the menu with caramel in it. not worth the five dollars I paid for it to chew on coffee grounds. If you want good coffee, make the trip to Battle Creek and visit Brownstone.

Wonderful spot to relax! We love their sloppy joes! Everyone seems to know everyone in the room and everyone is welcomed. Great customer service and place to enjoy great cooking.

One of my favorite gems in Kalamzoo! Open 24 hours this place is perfect for a late night snack and an early morning brunch! You have to try the bakery! They bust out some delicious treats like banana bread, seven layer bars and muffins. There’s even vegan and gluten free options!

This was my favorite hang out during college years. Open all night, affordable and good coffee, and yummy snacks! The baristas are usually a bit quiet unless you’re a regular which is a little disappointing but that’s not unusual in local coffee shops. Seems to be popular with bums at times too. But they don’t bother anyone.

Great music, cool baristas, open 24 hours, great aesthetics, and most importantly great coffee. As a college student and coffee lover, I will definitely be frequenting this little gem of a café.

Fourth Coast, Thanks for being such a good sport and offering delicious espresso beverages for Crow’s Nest upstairs while their machine is out of order. On a scale of «Zzzzzz» to «Now that’s what I’m talkin’ aboot», your vanilla latte is a solid«Yummy in my tummy». Also, Crow’s Nest gets bread from you guys– 3 cheers for convenience and 5 cheers for the best bread I’ve had in a long time! Sad panda alert: The latte was served in a pint glass which was pretty hot to the touch and there were no recycled coffee sleeves, I nearly dropped it on my way to my table. Even more sad panda alert: I promised you I would bring that pint glass back downstairs and I forgot… If it makes you feel any better, I also forgot my leftovers.

Courteous staff, local art, interesting ambiance, and vegan goodies(in addition to regular ones). What more could you want? :)

I was waiting at 4th Coast for a friend; when she didn’t arrive, I wanted the WiFi password to check if she had been delayed BUT the barrista told me it’s not given unless I buy something. That answer — curtly given — didn’t leave me with improved feelings. I was asking for something that didn’t cost him or the store anything, and I ended up missing my friend because of it. But at least I didn’t buy anything!

I’m from Kzoo, so I know how old this place is and how fun it was, once upon a time, to stop in there on an occasional night. Now that I’m 35 and I like getting out on a Saturday morning with a cup, I don’t like this place as much. the staff is kind of slow, which whatever… it’s coffee. The coffee is ok. A little too expensive for what you get, but reasonable enough. You know the turn off? The other customers. The guards(store) have given the keys to the inmates(regulars) and they are awful. they cut in line, they meander at the counter, purchasing nothing, but they keep the counter staff busy talking about the nonsense that coffee shop regulars go through. and these aren’t soccer mom custos… no these are people who hate other people, so they’ll certainly take it out on YOU, especially if you don’t look like them. Hate to say it… and I hate to say this too… you can get a large cup of good colombian at the Hardings Deli just down the road for $ 1.26 and I’m a coffee snob.

This place has been my touchstone in Kalamazoo all four times I’ve lived here. It is one of those formative places in my psyche(mid 90s highschooler) and thankfully both it and I have aged into a calmer, better us. Now it has a fantastic bakery associated with it, you can get food from the Crow’s Nest upstairs and has what I think is the best espresso roast in Kalamazoo. The flavor is perfect. The baristas are all pleasant and they type of people you kinda want to be friends with after 30 seconds of chatting and drug-exchange.

I just moved to Kalamazoo. And some friends told me about this place. So what did I do? I checked it out of course! I love coffee. And I have to say this place makes some good coffee. You aren’t breaking the bank at the same time. I got a good size cup of coffee for under $ 3. That beats crappy Starbucks by a long shot! Not to mention if you tell them you’re going to stay there and have your coffee(or whatever you get) they put your drink in a actual mug. This may be no big to some people. But being from a small town naturally. This makes the larger city seem more like home. In addition to that though. The all around feel of the place is so unique. It has character. Not like someone went out and bought a bunch of stuff from ikea to decorate the place. Real art though, urban, and unique. It’s not a huge place. But just sitting there. Even if you’re alone… It can kinda feel a little like home. A sense of warmth. Maybe it’s just me. I’ll be recommending this place to everyone one I know at this rate.

I was in absolute awe of this place. A homey feeling café with great coffee and a wide variety of in-house baked pastries. Vegan zucchini bread was the bomb. They also bake all the bread for Crow’s Nest upstairs– how genuine!

Of course I frequented Fourth Coast as a high schooler in the mid-90s. I drank many Italian sodas while discussing horribly important subjects in a dreadfully smoky coffee shop and thought I had the world at my fingertips. Little did I know I would return nearly 20 years later with my husband to find a pretty cool café. Fourth Coast is now completely smoke free and their coffee is really very good. When we arrived at about 5:30 p.m. on Saturday evening the place was pretty full, but the barista was super friendly and helpful. I had a decaf latte and Mr. MVP had a cherry Italian soda. Both were very good. What surprised us both was the bakery. Fourth Coast is not just a coffee shop, but they also have a small case of baked goods that includes vegan and gluten free goodies. Mr. MVP and I are a sucker for a good gluten free peanut butter cookie, so we took four home. Admittedly, Team VP has had a number a gluten free and vegan peanut butter cookies, but Fourth Coast has the very best. These are amazing. If I had the recipe I would be a very happy restricted eater. They are crumbly, peanut buttery, not too sweet and light. These are real peanut butter cookies. Delicious.

A real coffee shop. Old grumpy people should stay away. Uptight Geeks should also pass on this earthy, relaxed shop with great music, great coffee and yummiest baked goods. If you can’t find a seat downstairs they’ll let you sit upstairs in the crows nest

Pretty fab coffee shop and bakery! The space has got the indie coffee shop thing on lock. Flyers from local events, meetings, etc, serving fair trade coffees, live music on the regular, exposed brick, funky colored walls. As someone who totally digs this type of scene I was pleased greatly. Their formal restaurant upstairs, the Crow’s Nest, serves their bread which you can buy in loaf form at the coffee shop here. They also have a variety of other tasty looking snacks but since I had just gorged myself upstairs I had to sadly pass. Lots of seating in the space that didn’t seem to crowded(even though the Crow’s Nest upstairs was packed). Looks like an ideal place to pull up a chair, a cup of coffee, a little baked nugget, and a good book or your laptop to get some work done. I just cruised through to pick up some extra banana bread for my drive home to Ann Arbor so I can’t really talk too much about all the products but I was drooling over the bakery case and could see myself sitting here a spell when I return in the future! A bigger bonus? They’re open 24 hours. An insomniac or college student’s dream come true.

If you want a place to grab a coffee and find a space to occupy for reading, talking, drawing, staring at a wall, and thinking deep thoughts… this is a place for you. A Kalamazoo institution. Your experience will likely differ depending on the day and time of your visit but the coffee is always hot and affordable. Come for the coffee and stay for a piece of Kalamazoo.

I probably can’t give the most accurate review as I only got a take out shake, but they have a wide variety of drinks, and the barkeep was nice enough. It has a nice and chill atmosphere and ample parking on the street and in the lot directly adjacent to it.
