We went here last week while on a family camp out. Our family usually picks one night to eat a restaurant meal in town during our stay, and see if they can handle the overwhelming smell of campfire. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal! We had burgers, fries and shakes per other reviewers. We had the Bleu burger, which my husband said was good, the Gonburger which was pretty good, but I traded mine to my son for his Philly burger– which was fantastic. My younger son said they were the best burgers he has ever had. The fries were good and fresh and not too salty, which I liked a lot. The shakes were awesome. My husband had the maple bacon shake and it was pretty tasty. All in all. Great meal, a bit pricey, I think fries should come with the burger, but I realize it’s a small town, family owned business and I definitely plan on a return trip, camping or not.

What a fun, unusual and charming place! Burgers, shakes, shakes, shakes and more! Fun home-town atmosphere. Super friendly staff as well! The shake menu is unbelievable — might be the best shake menu I’ve ever seen. Soooo many varieties. I went with the maple bacon shake. Made with REAL cooked bacon and maple syrup! Super delish. Can’t wait to go back to try more… There is also a really wide variety of convenience store items, gifts and trinkets. Fun to look around. Really fun experience in a charming little town.

As advertised fabulous burgers fires and onion rings. Saw one of their milk shakes being delivered and I almost commandeered it, it looked so good. I had the blue cheese burger and it was cooked perfectly, medium, with a fresh bun. The blue cheese on my burger was pretty strong as I like it. If you are in Kamas around lunchtime join the locals some mighty fine food!

We love these hometown burgers and aren’t surprised at all by all the awards! Our favorites are the goneburger, the Philly, and the jalapeño burger. They also have fantastic shakes(full of whatever toppings you choose) and sundaes(the coconut sauce is to die for). Try this place for sure!

Here is the deal with hi-mountain, but before I start my review I need to disclaim that I am a sucker for family owned joints in small towns so that might make me only a slight bit biased on this one. The food is good. I enjoy the onion rings, the sweet potato fries and burgers. The hand cut French fries are great too. Every time I go the food is fresh and hot. I usually stick with the gonburger. The shakes are yummy too. I’d recommend any of them. Oh, and stick with the burgers. They are the best out of everything. The service is alright. If the place is busy it will be quite slow. The place kind of has an interesting smell with is also a downside. Overall go for the food and to support a great local business. Almost all of the employees are in some way related to the owners. The owners are super friendly and try quite hard. It’s a place I go to almost anytime I’m at my cabin.

Always a stop on our summer motorcycle canyon cruises, Hi-Mountain always comes through! The shakes deserve 10⁄5 stars. I have never had a better shake than the German chocolate shake. The burgers are a solid 4.5÷5, and the rest of the food rests a little lower on the scale. but still great! This place can get CRAZY on the weekends, and the younger staff here works as hard as any 16 year old based crew I’ve ever seen. The service can be a little disorganized, but with such a small place, and such high volume coming through, you can’t blame em! Highly recommend stopping through!

Shakes get 5 stars! Food gets 4 stars! Service on a busy weekend get 3 stars! If you are nearby, hungry, and love milkshakes then you must stop in to Hi Mountain. The burgers are decent, not the type of burger that will blow your socks off, but good sized and plenty of options to go on a solid patty of good beef. The milkshake flavors are out of this world, lots to choose from. Try the black licorice(if you like black licorice), Nutella, and the peanut butter flavors, among others that I’m sure I haven’t gotten around to. Getting seated and cashing out at the front register are both a pain in the backside on a busy day. Not too much space, and awkwardly placed by the front door. If it’s busy, it’s best to just walk in and walk up to the counter to order a milkshake to go. The time you save in bypassing ordering food and the quality of the milkshake will leave you glad that you stopped. Hats off to this family run operation, stop in an led give them a try!

Nostalgic soda fountain in a drug store. Great burgers and fries but the hit for us was the fresh peach milkshake and a fresh squeezed lime soda drink. Wonderful friendly service. This step back in time is worth a visit.

We did a hike on bald mountain and ended up here for dinner. We arrived and waited a good 5 minutes to get seated, we finally just took seats at the bar. We decided what we wanted and watched about 25 milkshakes made, so about a half hour went by and no one took our order or asked us about drinks. We were getting ready to just walk out when we finally got our order taken. Our food took another 20 minutes, which I expected, everything is hand made. The food was great, hand cut fries, home made burgers, just great. We didn’t order shakes because we didn’t want to wait another 45 minutes. I so wanted to be in love with this place after hearing the great things, but the lack of customer service really got me. I understand they are busy and make everything fresh, but they could of at least acknowledged us. I feel I may be back to try a shake and change my mind. I just hope their customer service gets better.

The. Shakes. Are. Amazing at this place. It’s an hour-and-a-half drive from my home, but it’s tempting to head up that way just for one. I was originally drawn here by the promise of an Aussie burger. Sadly, it was just a regular burger with an egg on it. It was good, but I’d rather go elsewhere when I’m in the mood for a burger. Service was good; be prepared to wait a touch because this place is busy, and they actually make your food. All in all, a great put stop on your way to it from the Mirror Lake Highway.

What a GREAT experience! The lady at the register had a very distasteful attitude that ruined the whole experience of the restaurant. Things that I didn’t like: terrible tables, who serves shakes before the food?, the shake were melting before I even received it; please hire someone over the age of fourteen, and the onion rings were overlooked. I did like the Aussie burger though!

What a treat in this small town near Park City UT! Found it on Unilocal & enjoyed delicious burgers, fried cheese curds, fried dill pickles AND a hot fudge sundae. Yes, we pigged out! A local gem and even though the service was a little slow(it was Saturday night & there were several large groups) we’d go back in a heartbeat. If you like good, local food with a down home feel, you won’t be disappointed!

Hi-Mountain does a lot of things very well. While I may not drive an hour each way to eat here, I certainly will stop by every time I’m in the general vicinity. The good: On the menu, you’ll notice a lot of things with asterisks. Normally, this is a bad thing, as in beef*(50% horse). Here the asterisk denotes something that is made in house. You can tell that this is not mass market food. Our waitress recommended the One Tough Cookie shake(peanut butter, Oreos, fudge, and peanut butter chips), and it was knock-your-socks-off good. I ordered the Gonburger and it was incredible. It had a great barbecue sauce and the hamburger patty looked and tasted hand made. The meat was looser than a standard patty and it was packed with flavor. The fries were also done very well and are cut on site. The bad: It’s inside an old drug store, so the kids wanted to buy all the toys and whatnot they had. Not so much bad as a «the more you know» situation. We will be returning!

After our group hike at Crystal Lake, we ended up here for an after meal in the Kamas area. The sign was not very noticeable in the front, and we almost missed them. They have additional parking in the back if the street ones were all taken. I guess it was normal for drug stores to have restaurant attached as well back in the day. Surely it had something to with how coke was originally made? The menu items were all traditional American dishes with mostly burgers and fries, etc. I got some Chicken Fingers for the kid, and a Jalapeño burger. The fries were decent, lightly salted, and chicken was well battered. They included a gummy burger candy for the kid too. Jalapeño was alright, meat was flavor balanced with nice texture, jalapeño was fresh with a nice kick, and the sauce went well with it too. Shake was probably the highlight of the meal, and it was something you could just cut straight to here. I got the Peanut Butter Shake, it was super creamy and tasty, and I would say it was probably the best shake I ever had of all the places I visited in the state. The Banana Cream Pie Shake looked pretty awesome with actual banana and pie pieces mixed into the shake rather than just syrup like many places. It might have been an altitude thing, but at Hi-Mountain drugstore, we definitely got pretty high in the mountains… off the shakes. It might even worth a trip to go up there just for the shakes.

We came to Kamas for the Tour of Utah stage 5 finish and discovered this wonderful restaurant. The malts and shakes are amazing, great hand cut frys, and the burger was fresh and local.

Hi-Mountain is really what a small town hamburger place should be: totally awesome. The restaurant doubles as a restaurant, ice cream parlor and a drug store. There are a lot of quirky and cute things sold in the drug store, but the restaurant is really where the place shines. I’ve been a few times over the years since my family lives around the area and have always left pretty happy. The burgers are tasty — I got the Gonburger during this trip, but the regular cheeseburger is delicious as well. I think it has a lot to do with the order of the toppings, actually. It’s not patty, cheese, condiments, then the bun — it’s condiments, patty, then cheese, then the bun, which I think makes the burgers taste better. The fried pickles are great, as are the regular fries. The onion rings aren’t too big but still pack a flavorful punch. And of course, there’s always the Utah staple of fry sauce. If you want to top off your meal with something sweet, order a malt/shake. There are SO many different kinds. I got the Better Than Anything, which had brownie bits, toffee, and caramel. SO awesome and the perfect way to end a trip to Hi Mountain. Overall, this place is really cute, the food is good, prices are fair and service is friendly. Definitely a must-stop for anyone passing through the area.

Phenomenal milkshakes! We were in search of the perfect milkshakes today in the Park City area and the Hi Mountain Drugstore shakes came highly recommended to us. We walk in the door not sure what to expect. We immediately were enamored with the store and then saw the menu… Our picks were the Better than Anything, the Raspberry Pretzel Jello and the Maple Bacon. The staff was very knowledgeable and sought out answers to all of our in depth shake-making questions. We enjoyed our shakes so much and plotted our take over the world with the yummy goodness that you expect from home made milkshakes and ice cream… the fat on top of your mouth… The décor is authentic the food looked good too! Take a drive to Kamas for milkshakes, it’s totally worth the bacon chunks, pretzel bits and heath bar pieces that are mixed throughout your shake and all piles on top!!!

We love out of the way places where we can find unusual businesses, kind of like the travels of Charles Kuralt years ago. We were on our way to Oakley, Utah and saw this place on the map. Stopped by and parked out front of the building. The right side of the store appears to be a summer only type walk up ice cream place which in November was closed. Noticed an unmarked police car sitting a few feet behind my car. Assumed he was fascinated by the out of state license. First thing I thought of was Mayberry and Barney. Went inside and sure enough an old drug store that apparently has long since been turned into another business. Stools and counter along the right where we could get ice cream, a banana split or milk shake. There was one guy ordering at the counter and just past that several tables and chairs where you could order a sandwich or something from the fountain. In the back of the store were more tables and chairs although at this time of the day they were empty. Lots of old«stuff» around the store plus a lot of greeting cards in the store. This is an interesting apace and we will be back to sit down and have one of the hamburgers. Glad to see these places are still being preserved.
