CrossFit K Block

I recommend CrossFit Kblock to any and everyone! Joining this block has been one of the best decisions of my life. I am by no means athletic… never played sports in high school and I hate running. But I do value being healthy, which led me on this journey 6 months ago looking for some engaging way to get my butt into shape. I dragged my dad along to check out other gyms on the Windward side. We chose Kblock because after their one-​hour introduction class I felt like I had actually worked out and learned something… plus they didn’t try to pressure me with a fancy sales pitch. Since joining Kblock, Coaches Sandy, Taya, Kalei, and Dionne continue to encourage, support, and personally invest in our physical, emotional, and social wellbeing. I love the opportunity to workout with my dad and recently my bother joined… Yes, crossfit is quality ohana time (and yes we drive all they way from LAIE). We can workout together with our various levels of skill and ability. I never thought that I would get all this from a crossfit gym. But each day after working out at Kblock, I leave with a sense of accomplishment.

CrossFit K Block has been hands down the best fitness experience I have ever had. After being part of an amazing gym on the mainland (BearFlag Fullerton shoutout!), I was dreading finding another one when I moved to Hawaii. I took about 6 months off due to work/​personal matters and then started looking in earnest for another gym to join. Word of advice, try not to be inactive for half a year and then think you can pick up right where you left off. That’s exactly what I did and I was seeing stars at the end of my first workout back *****.
That’s not to say K Block is only for experienced crossfitters. On the contrary, there’s tons of new members trying crossfit and K Block for the first time in all shapes, sizes, and ages. The big difference here is that they end up being long term members. I was someone who had been doing crossfit for awhile but felt like they were starting again from square one. If it wasn’t for the amazing coaches (Sandy, Kalei, Taya, Dionne) and the awesome members I would probably still be looking for another gym or another 6 months of inactivity.
In the world of crossfit, all gyms (or boxes) are not created equal, here’s a couple reasons why K Block leads the pack:
1) Convenient location with a huge parking lot (I’d always be late to classes if I had to look for parking)
2) One of the biggest spaces I’ve seen (with new and plentiful equipment to deck it out)
3) Flexible programs (you choose # of classes/​week and tiered pricing)
And the biggest reason:
4) An amazing community of coaches and members that encourage each other and are committed to living healthy and exceptional lives

My husband and I woke up one day last summer and decided that we wanted to see what Crossfit was all about. The real motivation was to get in shape for our wedding. From the moment we called Sandy and ever since she has been so sweet and helpful. We showed up and instantly fell in love with this gym and have been loyal members since. The coaches Sandy, Kalei, Taya, and Dionne are all top notch, very skilled, extremely helpful and also just great people. This Block is in a nice location, has all the equipment you could need, plenty of classes, and has a really friendly family-​style vibe that we love. Can’t say enough good things about this place. If you are already a crossfit athlete, thinking about checking it out, whatever the case this Block is perfect for you. You won’t regret trying it out. From the day I walked into K block, these people were like family! Sandy, Kalei, and Taya don’t just program awesome workouts, they care about your health, fitness, mobility, and overall well-​being. They are very knowledgeable and very passionate about their sport. I love the open gym hours, class availability (hours), and the size of classes is never too large! The members are very welcoming and there’s always an awesome, fun energy in the box. Crossfit IS for everyone and this box is awesome for first timers and seasoned athletes alike!

I made the switch to KBlock because the coaches are the legitness. I also needed a gym that had open gym time and space to do your own thing when you’re not doing a class. Now it’s turned into my second home. Regardless of your experience, everyone at KBlock wants to see you grow and get better and have fun doing it. I’d recommend this place to anyone.

I dropped in to K Block while on vacation in Kaneohe. The coach was super friendly and made me feel right at home — she even let me borrow a lifting belt. I love 8 AM Open Gym almost every day! Amazing!

As a beginner to CrossFit, I was nervous to start working out here. When I showed up for my first fundamentals class, I had no idea what I was doing but Coach Kalei was very patient and encouraging. Sandy was my coach for the next three beginner classes and I had a great time getting to know her and learning the different stretches and workouts!
Now that I’ve started actually doing the WODs and weightlifting, I feel so strong and confident and it’s all because I started at this gym. The daily workouts are tough but the feeling you get when you finish is priceless! Until CrossFit, I always dreaded going to the gym because I got bored with my workout fast and never felt like my body was changing. Now, not only are the workouts fun and always different, I can feel the changes CrossFit is making to my body, and can see the muscle building and the fat burning off.
Sandy and Kalei are so supportive and make me feel like I’m a part of their growing CrossFit family!

I haven’t been to many crossfit boxes/​gyms but I did find this one to be awesome! Coach Sandy and Kalei are extremely knowledgeable and very committed to everyone who comes to their gym.
Being a newb to crossfit, I found the beginners class to be challenging yet doable. Coach Sandy walked me through each of the movements and made sure I had proper form. I was so sore after the workout but it was definitely one of those hurt so good types of feelings. I like that there’s such a variety of workouts and the workouts themselves can be tailored to any level ranging from the clueless like myself to the competition grade athletes.
I also liked that there was plenty of parking in the shopping center. The environment inside is fun yet focused and altogether very supportive! There is also a good variety of different membership types and class offerings so this gym can cater to all kinds people and schedules.
I’ve actually tried other crossfit gyms in town and have yet to return to any of them. However, I definitely see myself returning here. Come check it out! It’s such a great addition to the windward side!
