Just putting this out there… if you know me, I don’t like writing bad reviews. But, I’m writing this review to give fair warning to others that have needle phobia like me and want their blood taken in a quick, easy way. It’s been quite a year of blood tests due to my pregnancy. So, I’ve had my fair share of being poked — and every single time, without shame, I ALWAYS ask for the butterfly needle.(Note: the butterfly needle is the tiniest needle available — lab techs will say it will take longer for the blood draw, but, hey, I will wait a few minutes more for just a little less pain. It’s true, I’m kind of a wuss when it comes to needles.) And I’ve been to great clinics(who deserve more of my praise on Unilocal) and then there was the DLS in Kaneohe: It was an early Saturday morning at DLS in Kaneohe. When I showed up, it was like the«bro show» — only guys were working and having a grand time. When the guy realized that I was there for a glucose test, he basically grilled me(uncomfortably) about what the doctor told me about the glucose test. Listen, man, I’m doing what the doctor told me — why grill the patient who absolutely hates needles? Anyway, when it was my turn to go for taking the blood, he didn’t take that long to decide to poke me with the butterfly needle. I was pleased that he poked me quickly — BUT, seriously why was the needle just sticking out of my arm with no vile or tube attached? When the lab tech realized that no blood was coming out, he decided he was going to move it around and shift it around. I was sitting there like, «What the f!!!» He proceeded to do this for a little while more and then decided he would take it out. Then, he looked at my other arm and proclaims, «Oh that vein looks much better.» If looks could kill, well, you know how I might have been feeling at this point. In my history of blood tests,(I thought it was best practice to check all veins on both arms and then make an informed decision… is that too much too ask?) He proceeded to poke the other arm and got the blood he needed. The entire time in the back I felt it wasn’t a warm and nurturing place. The workers were loud and making comments about how rough it will be to birth a baby. I mean, to me, it was unprofessional to the max. If you like that type of atmosphere, this is the place for you. For me, I will drive to town for better, more professional blood tests.

Évaluation du lieu : 5 Kaneohe, HI
DLS has actually moved to the Kaneohe Bay Shopping Center at 46 – 047 Kamehameha Highway, Suite 12… between Safeway and Longs. There’s more parking, but also more competition for parking because of the retail customers. It’s more convenient since one can do banking and shopping as well as dining before or after blood testing! The staff are very efficient, friendly, and professional. If you have to wait, it won’t be long because there’s a good variety of reading material on the table in the corner. Just take a number and get your ID card and health insurance card ready for photocopying. This is a more pleasant, brighter, and bigger space than the previous location. It seems cleaner and newer! Note: This lab used to be next to Benjamin Parker Elementary School, near the Police Station and across from the Fire Department.
