A somewhat short but gorgeous hike. We stumbled upon this during an attempt to reach the hidden haiku stairs or «stairway to hell.» Unfortunately we never reached the stairs due to a series of verticals cliffs, but we did get to a cable tower that offered a breathtaking view of the windward side. The hike starts off from the haiku plantation where you’ll cross a stream and into the taro fields. From there, you’ll find a few trails in the woods, each marked with a different color. Follow the yellow trail which will take you up the ridge towards the tower. On your way up, you can see the H3 and stairway to heaven on your left. The ridge follows the west side of haiku valley. The trail is fairly well maintained most of the way up, but eventually becomes almost nonexistent as you get closer to the top. Though if you look closely, you can definitely make out the remains of an overgrown trail. Remember to wear appropriate clothing so you don’t get all scratched up by the plants! To get down, follow the adjacent trail to the one that you took to get up. This trail would be to your right on the way up or the left trail going down from the tower. It’s well maintained and takes you down the ridge to Hulupala pl in a gated community. The whole hike took about 3 hrs. Perfect way to end the weekend :)
