Small town feel with lots of shopping and services available. police, fire, and ambulance all close by.

Évaluation du lieu : 5 Kaneohe, HI
One of my favorite places on the island. There are a lot of cheap places to eat, shop, and have fun. There is a mall, beaches, and good restaurants. It is a laid back town that does rain a lot, but gets beautiful foliage because of it. You typically run into it if you are going north bound, and don’t be hesitant to stop by.

The only things that would make Kaneohe better would be a Walmart, Costco, Trader Joes, and Kohls. For now, I’m quite happy about living and working in the 96744. I’m actually a townie — born and raised in Honolulu. When I got a job in Kaneohe(north of Honolulu), I started looking for a house nearby because I would fall asleep at the wheel after working a double shift. I thought that driving the hairpin turn on the Pali Highway was kind of dangerous during the winter with the rain beating down on my almost non-visible windshield. So, for safety reasons and convenience, I purchased a «starter home» in 2003. It was a cute 960 square foot house with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. My little yard was manageable and my neighbors were nice. My backyard was the Mormon church parking lot, so it was peaceful at the end of the cul-de-sac! I really enjoyed the location — it was close to the supermarket, the library, the police dapartment and the fire station! The district park with its pool was nearby, along with an elementary school and beach park. After ten years, my little property almost doubled in price! It was a good time to sell, so I found a great realtor and sold my piece of Kaneohe Town and bought a larger house and lot(still in Kaneohe)! So, if Honolulu prices are too high for you, consider buying in Kaneohe Town. It’s accessible by all three highways: Pali, Likelike, and the H-3. The weather is nice and cool — not like the Leeward side — and not rainy like Manoa and Nuuanu. It’s in the middle of great shopping: Windward Mall, Kaneohe Bay Shopping Center and Windward City Shopping Center. It’s surrounded by the beautiful and majestic Koolau mountain range. It’s still relatively affordable, so think about it!
