D’Bronx was on the agenda for dinner. I met a group of girlfriends here for dinner and loved that your could order-at-the counter and the affordable price. These things made for an enjoyable evening for our group and gave us the flexibility for friends to come and go at different times. The prices are reasonable and the whole place made my mouth water. I love that you can order single slices of pizza. Although the slices are pretty thin — one might not fill you. We decided to order a few slices of pepperoni. Hubby ordered two and I ordered one. The slice was good. Not super greasy. But it lacked sauce. A friend was raving about the dessert, so I decided to try a slice of their chocolate cake. It was moist, gooey and delicious. This is a fun little pizza place that provides a flexible and affordable option for dinner. We would definitely come back again in the future.

The calzone is so good! Pepperoni, hamburger, bacon, mozzarella, and ricotta, what else can you ask for! My friends had the chicken parm and meatball subs, and we’re very satisfied with the food. Only downfall was that it was very hot inside !

D’bronx has been on my «bookmarked» list since first exploring the West 39th area, and with my pizza-loving dad and stepmom visiting from MN, I figured it was time to stop in. Being that it was gorgeous weather, we ordered and snagged a table out on the sidewalk. Although it is close to the street, the noise level wasn’t bad, and the trees overhead made it feel more secluded. We ordered a ½ cheese, ½ pepperoni pizza, and the BEAST of a pizza was brought out to us quickly. I will say, I typically prefer Chicago-style pizza, but D’bronx served up some fantastic ‘za! We had plenty to bring home(bonus) and I would definitely go back.

I love chicken Parmesan sandwiches. I know this place is famous for pizza, but you gotta try this tasty sandwich.

I’m sad. My favorite corned beef sandwich in KC is slipping. A weekly favorite, the quality and service here needs some heightened focus. 3 times in a row — slow, cold, and simply not as good. I may give it one more try — but I really hope management steps in and recognizes the need for quality control.

My review isn’t for the pizza, being a new yorker, I know better so I won’t even go there. However, my review is for the great atmosphere,(mostly) friendly staff, and the fantastic sandwiches and the eggplant parm dinner. My wife and I get the eggplant parm dinner probably once a month, it’s always great and add an extra side salad and it’s enough for both both of us. So a meal for two for under $ 11 on 39th st is a good deal. Staff is always great, minus one visit(it’s always that one that sticks with you) when I walked in 15 min before close and the girl at the register showed how put off she was with my timing… that said, I apologized for the timing to her and the cooks, she sighed about it but the cooks said it’s no problem, hooked up some extra bread, added extra cheese and a slice of cake. So really, no complaint on that right… In summary, don’t expect new York pizza, but everything else is on point. Cheers.

Each time I come here it seems like the pizza is cooked less and less and the last time it was so floppy that I had to roll it up in order to eat it. I still like the taste of their pizza but frankly the inconsistent cooking is really making me hesitant to return, especially since I’m guaranteed awesome pizza nearby. Will try again eventually and cross my fingers, as it would be a shame to feel it necessary to write this place off.

My girlfriend and I explored 39th street and stopped in here; the first time I’d been in. The roast beef and provolone sandwich with everything on it was delicious! It wasn’t expensive and it was ready just a minute after I filled up my soda cup. It was a nice after-work deli experience.

Went to d’Bronx for the first time today! We went to the one on 39th& Bell St. I love the feel and vibe 39th street and this place was no exception. Very casual and older looking interior which was perfect for me and my very casual roommates. We were starving and split the 16″ d’Bronx special. We all were stuffed after 2 slices. It was huge and had a great amount of toppings. My only complaint would be the the staff was pretty unprofessional to us and each other, but still very nice. We will definitely be back!

I’ve never had their subs so my review is for pizza only. I really like the pizza, it isn’t the absolute best I’ve ever had but it’s probably in my top 5. My only complaint about it is that sometimes there’s almost too much cheese but it kind of depends on what toppings you get. I like the atmosphere of this location and the employees have been really nice. The last time I was there I was trying to cut one of the large pieces of pizza into a smaller one for my toddler. An employee saw me and said«let me cut that for you with the pizza cutter» I tried to refuse saying it was no trouble but he wouldn’t hear it. I thought that was really sweet and great customer service. There is only one long table that can seat several people so if you’re coming in with more than 4 in your party it may be hard to find a place to sit.

This is one of those reviews I don’t like to write. D’bronx was always the gold standard of pizza in it’s cool, 39th St. location. It was always memorable, incredible pizza, but as of my last several visits, it seems to have gone downhill. This was always the kind of place you could bring a date, crash with a group of friends and absolutely enjoy. The vibe in here is awesome with brick walls and scribbled names, a friendly staff and a wholehearted pizza shop experience. Maybe I’m missing something(someone please tell me I’m missing something!) but it just hasn’t been very good lately. Both the sandwiches and pizza have been sort of blah. The toppings are okay, the pizza hasn’t been cooked long enough and it’s more reminiscent of a chain pizza store at the moment. I’m still holding out a ton of hope that I’ve just had some swing-and-miss experiences and that it’s still in the top five for pizza places in town. As of right now, it’s out of contention.

Terrible food and service. Pizza was more bland than Pizza Hut. Have ¾ of it left between 2 people and it’s going to the dogs. Nasty and zero flavor.

3.5 This pizza was tastier than most slice joints I’ve been to lately in NYC. There was tons of sauce, not the pasty type– incredibly flavorful with lots of cheese and tons of veggie topping. The crust is the thickest I think I’ve ever seen and didn’t have any flavor. the bottom part was too hard and thick. just bad. Not a lot of oil/grease either! I’m pretty much from the Bronx. I can’t believe I’m rating KC pizza this high. If the crust was better texture and had flavor, this would be pretty excellent.

Mmmm D’bronx. Easily some of the best pizza in KC. But don’t just stop at the pizza: they also have lasagna, eggplant parm, and great sandwiches(including an eggplant sandwich that is phenomenal). Service can be kinda slow sometimes, but it’s worth the wait!

D’bronx was a really good pizza place to hit up while I was in town. I really enjoyed my slice of the Bronx special. It was a HUGE slice of pizza and wasn’t greasy. That was very refreshing. They didn’t skimp on the toppings and as a bonus they had cherry coke on tap. Awesome.

Listen, I’m from Chicago and I know good pizza. This place is overrated. It’s just a greasy slice of thin-crust pizza. Nothing special about it at all. Every time I hear someone talking about the pizza here, I just realize that they don’t know any better because they’ve never experienced better. If you’re comparing it to Pizza Hut and Dominos, of course you’d hype this place up, but KC just really isn’t the place for amazing pizza, and that’s ok. There’s always BBQ. I do like the restaurant atmosphere and the service here. I will be back since it’s close by and there’s nothing«better» in the area. If you’re from Chicago or any other major city where good pizza is all over, you will be unimpressed.

I either get a few slices or a sandwich when I eat here. The Reuben is one of the best in the city.

Walked in tonight and ordered a couple sandwiches tonight, girl says«we’re all out of sub roll»(blank look on her face) doesn’t say another word. Like its the end of the world. I look at my boyfriend and say we’re out of here bc I didn’t want pizza. He asks her,” so you don’t have any bread for sandwiches tonight? Other guys answers her with a few options. I mean c’mon is the service industry that ignorant these days? No one gives a shit about their jobs anymore. We should’ve walked out and we had to send the pizza back bc it looked like it was sitting there for days. We’ve been coming here for years and it just isn’t what it used to be. So disappointed.

Pizza was good but way expensive for just a pizza. Had to try it because I had several friends say it’s the first restaurant they recommend I go to when in KC. Left very disappointed and with a much lighter wallet. Also took forever for just a medium pizza when there were only 4 other people there at the same time. Don’t plan on coming back.

Stopped down here to grab lunch this afternoon. I was on a time limit and they were busy. Ordered two slices of pizza and a small drink. Service was fast and the pizza was great for lunch. Only reason I’m not giving it a five is because parking was a pain. Dining rooms, bathrooms and what I could see of the kitchen area were squeaky clean. Staff seemed like they enjoy working there.

This place has been around for so long and has had its ups and downs, but right now the management is running the business very well. The food and service has been excellent for the last six months! For example, today I needed two slices of cheese-less pizza, which is the item not on the menu, and despite the fact that they were extremely busy they were glad to do carry out my request! Perhaps it is my elitist attitude that I constantly carry myself with? Regardless of the fact that I am a true blooded elitist and have ZERO doubt that I’m better than everybody else-(on any scale that measures positive human attributes, i.e. intelligence, athletic ability, humor, physical appearance and swagger); I can be certain up to a 99.9% confidence interval that the 39th St. D’ Bronx will be a Kansas City staple for as long as Kansas City remains occupied by Homo sapiens! I do recommend the Rueben sandwich and the Bronx sub with no tomato!!! Tomatoes on sandwiches are gross, and anyone who thinks otherwise should have their head checked;-) Maybe I am the one who needs their head checked;)!

I have been eating here for a decade, D’bronx and the Fun House on 40hwy in Independence are my two favorite old school Pizza places in the Metro. Order the giant pizza for a party, have to turn it sideways to get it thru the door. The pizza is outstanding, my kids love the giant brownies, and my favorite apple pie ever. The other locations are good as well, but I like this classic location best
