Cute little place. We had a maple doughnut with bacon. It was good but kind of pricey.

The hype really took this place down for me. I like the concept, but the product was pretty average. I don’t know that it’d make my top 5 donut joint in Westport, let alone anywhere else. Tried 4 donuts between the 3 of us. Very reasonably priced, and the product matched the price: average. Among the 4, the favorite was«The Dolly.» 2 of the 4 were pretty dry and my 9 year old remarked, «these are pretty stale.» Cool aesthetic and cheap donuts, but the hype is just that, hype. Check it out tho and see for yourself. We had no booze. Just donuts. Because, donuts. Is it donuts or doughnuts? Eh

I’ve got mixed feelings about Doughnut Lounge. It’s a very cool concept, in theory. On my first visit, my mother and I split a NoDut, avocado risotto over a deep fried crispy donut with a balsamic reduction syrup. It was strange, but oddly compelling. On our 2nd visit, my parents and I stopped for a round of donuts for breakfast the next morning. We were very excited by tiramisu donuts and peanut butter dark chocolate. And they were solid. Tasty and good. But they were expensive. Very expensive. Like we could have had 1 – 2 dozen donuts elsewhere for the cost of 3. It will be interesting to see how long they last when the novelty wears off.

My two favorite things in one: booze and donuts! I would definitely recommend coming here for a cocktail — they are very good. I got the Dolly(root beer glaze, sheep milk custard and basil) and the Rhubarb Enlightenment and it was fantastic! Highly recommend it, more laid back than a raging bar but a good place to start the night or have a yummy treat.

Cute place and very friendly staff. I ordered the chicken and doughnut meal, and a smores doughnut. The fried chicken thigh was bland and could use a healthy dose of seasoning. The meat was cooked well and tender though. There is a honey sriracha sauce and a glazed doughnut served with the chicken. The sauce was more sweet than spicy. When paired with the doughnut and chicken, the dish was overly sweet. A touch of acidity, salt, and spice would elevate the dish tremendously. The smores doughnut was dry. I took one bite and was done. So, overpriced, and not impressed.

Hip vibe, interesting concept with the bar. However of the four donuts I tried, the coconut one was heavy but would anchor any boat to harbor, the Smore’s one tasted nothing like one even though it looked campy, and the tiramasu ones were just a flat out miss. They need to retool their donut creation making, I can’t imagine they will stay in business if it was only about the donut. The dough is chronically way too heavy and thick/wet. I gave an extra point for the very friendly staff there. I wish these people the best, but I think they need more than luck to survive in Westport.

Had never been, but in the neighborhood and ready to give them a whirl! It was NDD – National Doughnut Day – so we got one freebie with our order! The donuts were pretty tasty… we ordered 6 donuts. The price is steep…$ 14 for six donuts. Whereas you can get a full dozen – at say, LaMar’s for $ 11.99 – for comparison. I’m not going to lie… the donuts were good but not my fave. These were definitely FUN, and definitely GOURMET, and shall I say CREATIVE as well. But I personally like a big, fat, fluffy donut that melts in your mouth. These are not that kind of donut. That being said, it’s a fun spot in Westport and a great addition to the area. Try them and see!

Doughnuts and booze. How can you go wrong? Are these the best doughnuts I’ve ever had? No. Are they good doughnuts? Sure. I like concept of a doughnut and cocktail place, even though we only had water, so I can’t speak to the quality of the drinks here. We ordered a s’mores doughnut and a boston cream doughnut. Both of them looked better than they tasted. I don’t care for crème filled doughnuts, so I left that one up to my dinner buddy to polish off and focused on the s’more, which had very little marshmallow, and the doughnut part covered in chocolate was dry. I think this is a creative idea and a decent little stop, although I wish they offered more of a variety of doughnuts.

Do you know how much I regret not going in on their start up funding and scoring a black card? I miss the lemon pistachio donuts! Donut nachos taste so much better than you’d expect. They have a ton of brewing options when it comes to coffee. I like their cortados and cold brew. Go later in the day and snag a cocktail with friends. Stay classy with a Sazarac. Take the crown with the 1738. Or just keep it dirty Westport with a Daily Breakfast(beer and a shot). Watch out for that first step in/out the door though. I’ve seen many people, both sober and drunk, trip on it!

WARNING: this review is partial to doughnuts, so this may be a biased rating. With that being said, the atmosphere isn’t that of a bakery but more so resembles a trendy lounge kind of vibe. I know it’s in the heart of Westport(across from Gambles Social Club), which is a great location for late night munchies + to get some beer and artisan cocktails, as well as having a big projector that is broadcasting sports. I went on a Friday night around 9 p.m. and the doughnut selection was slim, but ended up getting the S’More and Lemon Pistachio. I suggest not coming during the evenings on weekends, just because of the Westport crowd and the selection seems to be dismal. The Lemon Pistachio was surprisingly good and I highly recommend everyone to step out of their normal doughnut comfort zone and try this one. You won’t be disappointed. The S’More doughnut wasn’t bad, make sure you like dark chocolate, and was a nice choice from my normal doughnut selection. I would say if you’re coming here just for the doughnuts then it’s a 3⁄5 stars, but since this establishment offers a lot more, I bumped them up to a 4⁄5 stars — the cocktails, doughnut entrees, coffee, atmosphere + HD projector enabled me to give this 4⁄5 stars.

Don’t get me wrong, this place is good but it was disappointing. First off, it wasn’t a maple bacon donut, it was just… bacon. Although I do love bacon, it needed the maple frosting. What was even more disappointing was the tres leches donut. I was really looking forward to this because I love tres leches but this was no tres leches. It was just a normal cake donut. The smores donut was very good. The chocolate was a nice dark chocolate that gave it a nice depth to the airy donut.

Only tried once BUT have to say… it’s A-Okay. I think the doughnuts can be improved upon but are good… for being just ‘good’ they are expensive but I’m sure the rent in WP is not cheap. I’m partial to crunch on the outside and super creamy on the inside Old Fashioned doughnuts(I’m thinking of you Do-Rite Donuts Chicago) & these guys didn’t quite measure up but I’ll go back to check out the other menu items as well as to have another bite of that really delicious Carrot Cake doughnut.

Doughnut Lounge… The space has a coffee house vibe with some cozy seating areas and a nice selection of background music on the sound system. All of this is very nice and pleasantly typical of coffee houses we have visited all over the country… UNTIL you notice that the back bar has booze bottles all the way to the ceiling. Now that is a twist you don’t see just anywhere. Hubby and I were heading a couple of blocks north for some coffee when the sidewalk sign saying«doughnuts» caught Hubby’s eye. Since there was a temptingly empty parking spot just past the sign, we changed our plan and decided to give them a try. Walking in the door, was a treat for the nose and the glass fronted display cases held a tempting selection of goodies including Maple Bacon Bars, Apple Fritters, Tres Leches and Lemon Ricotta doughnuts plus several others that we didn’t try… yet. The young man that was behind the counter was friendly and welcoming, answering our questions about the various bakery items and even tucked a second doughnut into the sack when I told him I just had to try the Lemon Ricotta and would take one to go. The coffee is good(although, when freshly poured, the handleless cup is a bit hot to the touch) and every coffee comes with a free refill. My Maple Bacon bar had a complete slice of bacon gracing it’s top(the menu on the internet says«bacon bits») and was very savory-sweet with it’s maple glaze. Hubby had the Apple Fritter and we brought our doughnuts home for dessert this evening. I am munching on the lovely Lemon Ricotta doughnut as I write this review and it is a yummy, moist concoction — not too sweet. Doughnut Lounge is a busy, fun spot and a great place to meet friends, whether you are in the mood for coffee or a cocktail. The menu also mentions something called a Nodut(Part doughnut. Part entrée.) Sounds worth another visit is in order, soon.

I’m am both thankful and disappointed that Doughnut Lounge doesn’t exist in Oklahoma City, where I live. What a holey shop! First off the space is very welcoming and makes me want to spend both mornings and late nights lounging around with a doughnut. Most doughnut shops that I’ve visited, both locally and in NYC, the Big Apple-fritter, don’t have a good sit-and-munch-your-doughnut-with-friends vibe. Doughnut Lounge had plenty of seating to allow this, as well as an alcohol menu that makes this both a first and last stop. The doughnuts. The doughnuts. I’m already drooling and planning my visit back thinking about the taste. My boyfriend and I got 4 total to try. My absolute favorite was The Dolly, which I didn’t even choose myself. I asked the man helping us to surprise me and I’m so glad! The Dolly is glazed with a hint of root beer as well as a few other surprise flavors. I’m crazy about that root beer touch! I also enjoyed tasting the s’mores, moostakas, and royal blue. All had balanced flavor and rank in the top tier of doughnut I’ve tasted(I’ve got a Brooklyn doughnut crawl on my resume so I’ve been around). Don’t go to KC without stopping by!

The obvious appeal of this place is when you want a donut or wanna lounge in a coffee shop atmosphere but have you ever though about swinging in on a Saturday night for a cocktail? My friend and I were having a very low key Saturday evening — we’ve always loved the donuts here but decided it might be fun to stop by for a night cap. I ordered a Hardly Questioned — made with rum, pumpkin and egg whites complete with latte art(can I call it latte art if it’s alcohol?! Hmm…). It had the perfect amount of spice and made me feel warm and fuzzy inside. My friend got the Against Method — a delicious gin drink that was lit on fire and served warm. You’ll spend between $ 8-$ 12 here in a signature cocktail which I am glad to pay for a well crafted drink made with love.

Had me at cream filled! Although they always have a good selection I find it’s even more mind blowing in the beginning of the week, not sure why. Award for craziest but tasty combo would go to the basil, root beer sheep’s curd filed doughnut. Although a safe bet that’s always on hand strawberry mascarpone or even the lemon pistachio. I’d say a minimalist hipster vibe, I mean come on they serve nitro cold brew while you lounge on a sturdy yellow armchair. By no means should this be taken as a durogatory comment, oh no quite the contrary I am highly in favor of their flavor. Just an observation as I was trying my hardest not to look like the fat happy kid with powdered doughnut doing the happy dance. Besides myself I think their was only one other female, the rest were all fellas, specifically leaning towards facial hair, 20s to 30s crowd just sayin’. Speed doughnut dating anyone?

Its Friday 7:45AM, sitting in my cubicle farm at work reviewing emails when I heard the words that make an average day a great day, «Hey, there are doughnuts in the breakroom!» Like Tarzan yelling through the jungle, word of doughnuts spreads fast. So I leaped out of my chair and raced to the breakroom. Along the way hoping they weren’t crappy gas station doughnuts or day-old discounts. I arrived to an open brown box fearing that they were all gone my heart sank into my empty stomach. As I grew closer to the box I could tell these weren’t your run of the mill pastries. I notices marshmallows, pecans and BACON! I knew that Doughnut Lounge was behind these after reading about them on Unilocal and in the newspaper. I grabbed a S’Mores doughnut(it is the first Friday in Lent otherwise that bacon maple would have been mine!) As others Ooohed and AAaaawed over the remainders in the box I snuck back to my desk to eat this beast in peace. First bite was of a fluffy but dense doughnut with rich chocolate topping and a hint of graham cracker. I took a few bites to get to the marshmallow middle and it was good but I wish that it was more evenly distributed across the whole thing and not just the middle. All in all it was a great doughnut and a great way to start a TGIF!

Tasty, unique doughnuts in a cute coffeehouse/bar. I really enjoyed my quick visit to the Doughnut Lounge. I stopped by on a Thursday morning to grab some doughnuts to go. I was there around 9:30am and there were still doughnuts of every variety available. I picked out the S’mores doughnut(the best!), the banana wafer doughnut(my husband’s favorite), a strawberry mascarpone doughnut(pretty solid), and a red velvet doughnut(thick and good). It was a bit pricey for doughnuts(27 for 6), but it was a fun experience trying some unique treats. I wouldn’t go often, but it would be a cute place to hit up with out of town guests or when a craving hits. Next time I will have to try the«meal doughnuts» or a cocktail.

Doughnut Lounge may be the most Westport thing that has ever Westported. Hipster yet non-pretentious atmosphere that works for anytime of the day? Check. Craft cocktails and beer? Check and check. Coffee(nitro cold brew!) to go with donuts that can be both dessert and a full meal(chicken and waffles doughnut… say whaaaaat)? Check, check, and check. It’s glorious and quite possibly the best thing to happen to KC in 2015 that isn’t blue and baseball-related. When the DL hit Kickstarter, I knew that: one, Kansas City was in for something special; two, Westport was the perfect neighborhood for this; and three, I had to be a part of it… so I went in on a Black Card that gives me one doughnut a day FORLIFE. #YOLO…though maybe slightly shorter because of all the doughnuts I’ll be consuming now. Worth it. In my first few visits, DL has confirmed the faith and money I invested in them. They’re doing a ton of things right right out of the gate. Prices are spot-on for what you get, and the customer service has been stellar from both the owner, Jake, and all of his employees. The ambiance somehow strikes an impressive balance of feeling like a neighborhood doughnut shop while still being somewhere I wouldn’t mind sipping on a cocktail and shutting the night down. I haven’t had the chance to do the latter yet, but the cocktail and beer menu looks catered toward munching on some carby goodness while imbibing. I can say with certainty that will be a common occurrence in my Westport bar hopping from here on out. At its heart, DL is about the doughnuts, and they’ve already perfected some must trys in that regard. The best of these is the Dolly — a raised doughnut filled with goat cheese and basil and topped with a root beer icing. It executes the perfect equilibrium between sweet and savory, and I’ve never tasted something quite like the root beer glaze… truly the definition of a signature item. Other standouts include the most closest-to-the-actual-thing s’mores doughnut I’ve ever had and an Oreo-stuffed doughnut(yep, there’s a full Oreo inside of it) that tastes delicious enough that I don’t even mind the heart palpitations that follow(kidding). And the chicken and waffles nodut(DL’s term for their meal doughnuts) I mentioned? Just get it and don’t ask any questions. It might just be the best version of «chicken and waffles» in town. It’s also fairly obvious that Doughnut Lounge isn’t getting comfortable with its early success(the place has been packed every time I’ve been in) and isn’t afraid to try new things or innovate. The first time I stopped by, I had an underwhelming version of what was supposed to be a caramel apple doughnut that wasn’t very caramel-y or apple-y. By my next stop, the same doughnut was a moist cake-base drizzled with caramel and dressed with a full ring of apple on top. It was everything I wanted the first time around. My visit this evening came with the pleasant surprise of the newly created Monte Cristo doughnut — a biscuit-like morsel packed with ham, cheese, and strawberry jam and dusted in powdered sugar. It was a spot on doughnut version of one of my favorite sandwiches. While it may have a few new business kinks to work out, mainly wait time in line and some not-quite-there doughnuts(looking at you non-peppermint-y candy cane doughnut), the shop is off to a great start, and I have no doubt that Jake and the team can put together a five-star experience in minimal time. Doughnut Lounge had me at Kickstarter-aided hello, and with my Black Card in tow, now has a loyal customer for life.
