There is a dearth of breakfast options in the Northland near the airport, so I thought I’d stop here. Bad idea. Even when there was virtually nobody there, service was abysmally slow. Breakfast sandwich was bland and bordering on tasteless, access to the restaurant is terrible, and they go cheap and lowbrow on their bread product, using High-Fructose Corn Syrup in virtually all of their bagels(and their other products), something that is completely unnecessary in bread.

Bagels are pretty good. Breakfast food is lacking a little other than the bagels though. Coffee here is good… a nice way to start out the morning if you’re in a hurry.

Sort of the like the Bermuda Triangle there’s a triangle of Panera, Starbucks and Einstein Brothers along NW Barry Road. Take your pick. This location is not as convenient for me and I almost missed it entirely next to the Bostom Market. I prefer Panera only because the ambience is a little nicer than here. All three have free wifi, and I like the food here at Einstein Brothers actually more than at Panera. Starbucks doesn’t serve food but if I wanted just coffee, I’d go to Starbucks instead since I like the décor and for me to get to it’s easier. I thought I would try Einstein Brothers one morning instead of either of the other two and was pleasantly surprised. The folks behind the counter were really very nice and they serve breakfast items all day — unlike Panera. The coffee was really good and the refills are free, unlike Starbucks. On my second visit there was some confusion about an email coupon, but the manager was good enough to offer to honor it even though I had received it by mistake. it was good seeing the manager there on a Saturday morning actually working. The restaurant was clean and everything was well-stocked. Perhaps that why I didn’t have the experience that some other reviewers had when they ate here. I’ll definitely be back as long as this keeps happening!

It was 10:20 on a sat morning. They were very crowded. There were 5 staff standing around not doing much, talking to each other. Does it really take 2 registers and 3 cooks to put some bagels in a bag? I ordered ½ dozen bagels and a tub of cream cheese. Granted there were other people who had ordered in front of us, but really how hard is it to put 6 bagels into a bag and hand me the tub of cream cheese you made me give you at the –first cash register? Its not like you even cut them or heated them up or anything… and when we DID come back up to make you cut the bagels it took another 5 min for anyone to even notice me standing there. When they finally did get cut they were the worst cut bagel i have ever seen. When i asked for a pen to sign my receipt and keep track in my checkbook your cashier snottily asked if «well wont a marker work?» Then she literally SIGHED at me and stomped off to find a pen or pencil. The guy delivering our food to us mixed up Erin and Derrick, given my ½ dozen bagels to a guy that wanted a BLT bagel. we had to switch it on our own. The bagels were good but the staff was some of the worst i have ever seen. I should have waited the 40 min for boston market next door to open.

I LOVE the bagels at Einsteins, they really are some of the closest bagels to a true NY style Jewish deli. This location is often dirty and gets very busy, especially on Sunday mornings. They tend to run out of the poppy seed bagels by 11 a.m. The employees here tend to be outgoing helpful and friendly. MUCH more so than the locations in Prairie Village.
