I had always thought that this place was drive-thru only because of it’s tiny structure. After seeing people walk in while driving by, I stopped in. The place is small but has a small area with chairs and couch surrounding a coffee table and a couple of tables and a couple of barstool seats. It seemed slightly cliquish since there was several regulars there enjoying conversation, but I guess that’s what I would want if I was a regular too. Good raspberry mocha, comfy chair and New Yorker magazines. I’ll return.

The atmosphere is warm and the baristas are helpful. The prices are fair, all in all, a good place to take a break.

Always friendly like their name! All baked goods are yummy and lattes are the best. They have a punch card 10 drinks & next one is free, that is awesome too!

The Friendly Bean absolutely lives up to their name. I will go out of my way and across town so that I can purchase their wonderful coffee and service. In this day and age, Guest Service is unfortunately going by the wayside. However, this wonderful little spot has not lost its way. Every trip is always pleasurable and I know that I will be met with a smile and a thank you. They have a wonderful heart healthy muffin that I also like to get. It tastes much like a carrot cake, but it is much better for you. I have purchased a series of drinks and never have been disappointed. They also have frequent drinker cards and the 10th drink is on the house. Keep up the great work Friendly Bean!

I can’t say enough good things about Friendly Bean. The staff is so nice and the drinks are always delicious. Better than Starbucks(which is the main option in the Northland), and they have a drive-thru.

Every single coffee and smoothie I’ve had here has been consistently great. They make them all to order, and if you get there early enough you can grab a pastry or cookie, which are definitely worth it! Another plus is that they can make almost any drink without coffee, using milk instead for those non-caffeine drinkers out there. Or for my picky younger sister. Both iced and warm coffees are great, and it’s hard not to go back every day to try something new. One last point: try the smoothies. They are delicious and have several great flavors, my favorite being strawberry-banana. Overall, amazing drinks + long hours + friendly local owners = you need to go try it.

One od the best places have a cup a joe and meet friends… only thing I have to complain about is space size and not the cleanest place.

Seriously the most friendly coffee shop around! It is fun getting the ‘coffee of the day’ to try something new. Very well priced! Might come here instead of the Starbucks across the street next time.

Love this little coffee shop! Always worth the stop :) I’ll admit I was a loyal Starbucks customer, but since moving to NKC, I’ve branched out due to convenience. Friendly bean is not only more convenient by having a drive thru, it never fails to make a great cup of coffee. The amount of options can be overwhelming, but each time I’ve tried something new — it’s been great!

Great place. I always stop by when I’m in the area. They have something that tastes great, year round. I think it’s better than Starbucks.

Friendly Bean is by no means, closed! It’s my favorite local coffee shop. I got a gift card for Christmas and can’t wait to use it all up! So hit the drive through and pray a cream cheese croissant is still available(they go quick!)

Usually a Starbucks guy but was visiting relatives in KC and decided to Unilocal for something new. Glad I did. Worth the trip & better than Starbucks. Great service super creamy latte :-)

To start, I enjoy studying here. It’s a small space, but they have a nice desk area. On one occasion, I forgot my laptop but luckily they have a computer available to use. Thus far, I have tried their PUMPKINSPICE latte and CINNAMONVANILLA latte per recommendations. The cinnamon latte was great! It wasn’t too sweet and had the perfect hint of cinnamon. The added bonus: ALMONDMILK! That really made a difference for me. I’ll be back!

This is the type of coffee shop that brings you back again and again!!! From their fruit medley smoothie to my favorite, cinnamon vanilla latte, i can’t get enough. Need a piece of cinnamon coffee cake for that cappuccino??? By all means go for it… this place has no regrets for sale!

This place is the BEST! Hands down better than Starbucks. The espresso is richer the frappes are creamier and the service lives up to the name! The drive thru does take a few minutes so it’s not the best place to stop for morning coffee if you are short on time. Try it out, you won’t be disappointed!

I’m not entirely sure how I missed out on this cute little coffee shop on Barry Road, but I’m glad another Unilocaler recommended it! The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and they have great drink options besides the traditional coffee and espresso. They have a great indoor and outdoor space to sip coffee and free wifi to browse on your phone or laptop.

Just what the Northland needs! I live in midtown but work in the northland quite a bit and if there’s one thing lacking up there its locally owned and operated joints. I’m tired of searching for ‘coffee around me’ and only getting Starbucks and Caribou. The name really says it all! This place is loaded with direct and fair trade coffees, teas and other goodies. Like most of these places the owner has been to the plantations and visits the family’s that directly touch and impact his coffees so his passion and care radiates throughout the shop. The friendly staff and instant recognition really start your visit here off with a since of belonging :) The drinks are all very affordable priced and the smoothies are simple and delicious! They make allot of the baked goods in house and even offer a frequent shoppers card. By the way, when you order a large to enjoy there you better be prepared for a Giant ceramic mug that makes you feel like you should be sitting on a Colorado back porch. Overall the coffee is pretty good, the prices are just right and location is right where it should be. Also there is a EV charge point at the Price Chopper right behind the shop.

I quite agree with the«friendly» portion of their name. They are just so dang nice! I also prefer their coffee to Starbucks. The flavor is richer and they make a killer Americano. I appreciate the drive thru, even though it can be a tiny bit slower than a Starbucks, the wait is worth it.

It’s not just the beans that are friendly — the people are too. The Northland is woefully lacking in several areas, locally owned coffee shops are one of those(it is getting better, there are two relatively new shops in or near Liberty.). Coffee shops must be one of those businesses that are easy to open if you have enough money to get started. Unfortunately for the would-be entrepreneurs though, running one seems to be a lot harder than it looks. Occasionally someone gets it right, and the proof is a shop that stands the test of time. Friendly Bean Coffee is one of those. Friendly Bean is most of what I look for in a coffee shop, it’s cozy, quiet, the people are friendly(again), and the coffee is really, really good. I think I even heard somewhere that they roast their own beans.
