Really busy during the Big 12 tournament, but wait staff did a good job trying to accommodate everyone. Party of 5 very slowly ordered food throughout our stay, but our waitress had patience and came by as many as times as she could. Food seems to be consistent at all of the locations; things have always come out fresh, hot, and timely. Ordered chicken nachos with no cheese, and surprisingly, the chicken was not seasoned – just grilled. I was a bit disappointed by this, but the olives, jalapeños and salsa made up for it. I did also expect a bigger portion than what was given, I finished it very quickly.

I’ve been to other Johnny’s that consistently have good service and food — This one is hit-or-miss, to be honest. Maybe it’s because it’s at P&L, not in Lawrence or Olathe. Either way, the wait is always ridiculously long and the staff hardly ever seems really interested in what you’re requesting. The food is decent most of the time — Their wraps are pretty good.

Great place to eat if you’re going to an event at The Sprint Center. It’s directly across the street. Great food and great service.

Great prices, great service, I’ll definitely be back on my next trips to Kansas City. Oh, if you’re lucky enough to have Jenn as your bartender, you’ll be very happy.

Great place to watch a game. Friendly staff, lots of TVs. Food was your typical bar food. They had some special simmons wings they are worth trying out, and I’m a wing fiend.

Stopped in to watch the Cubs wild card game on the big screen & get a beer. Expensive bso be aware. In any case, it was great to see the game, with the local Cubbie fans. Got a bit hungry, and walked in to Johnny’s Tavern. The place was fairly crowded, compared to the other places in the district. Ordered some beer & apps to share with friends. I’m not going to go into this at length. It’s a great place to catch a game, have a cold beer & get something quick to eat if you’re going to be stuck watching a game. But don’t go expecting a great meal. This is just bar food, unfortunately just ok bar food. Don’t overthink it. We had the blue cheese & bacon chips. No surprise. Just ok. The server suggested the beer battered brat bites & the chicken quesadillas. The brat bites were cut too thin, and they turned out to be too crispy because of that, leaving no brat taste whatsoever. The quesadillas were just ok at best. It’s late, and there was no turning back for another food alternative. Come here for the beer & the tvs. Save the dining for elsewhere.

As strolling visitors to the P&L district, we popped in for a late lunch. Pizzas are huge. The one we got was hot and brimming with cheese. A slight mixup by the kitchen re toppings did not dampen our appetites nor our satisfaction. The New York style crust is perfect — thin with a really nice chewy edge. After realizing this, we ordered cheese for dipping so we wouldn’t waste a morsel. Our waitress, Jamie, handled the order mix-up issue competently and professionally. In addition, she was efficient, pleasant and engaging. So much so that we made a point of it with the manager. An okay selection of beers and a comfortable low key atmosphere made for a happy couple ready for a nap. We’ll be back.

It’s cool for a tavern. Nothing to rave about and nothing to complain about. All good here.

If you work downtown and don’t bring a lunch, chances are you will end up here at some point. The food is fast and the burgers are the real deal. Not much in terms of healthy options but when a burger is what you want it is hard to beat. Johnny’s is also one of the better bars in P&L, especially for watching a game.

We come here almost once a week! Wonderful food. The barbecue chicken pizza Lawrence style is amazing and so are the Simmons wings! Service has always been great and the girls are super friendly!

I have been to Johnny’s multiple times over the years, always soccer-related, whether for Dynamo/KC or USA soccer matches, as this is home of the American Outlaws KC chapter. I remember a couple of years ago when Rob Stone(a host for Fox Sports) gave a toast, and the bar provided a free bomb pop shot(red, white, and blue) to EVERYONE. Everyone waited until everyone else received their free shot before drinking. If you’ve ever been at the bar with about 300 people, you can understand this is no easy feat. Fast forward to this month when KC was selected again to host a Gold Cup group stage match. We met at Johnny’s and had a chapter leaders meeting. We all got free drink tickets. I chose Angry Orchard as my drink, and I was given a 16oz cup instead of a 20oz cup like everyone else had. I don’t know why! For my second drink, I was asked which size I wanted, and I said I wanted the big girl cup — no sippy cups! I don’t know why the first waitress didn’t ask the size I wanted. In general, service could be a bit better(reason for 3 stars), although I recognize when it gets crowded, this can be difficult. The food is pretty decent. We had pizza, and it was pretty good. It definitely wasn’t your normal pizza hut pizza. The setup is great at Johnny’s because it’s part of the KC Live courtyard. You can bring your drink out to the courtyard, walk around, and check out other bars. You can also bring your drink from Johnny’s into the other courtyard bars and vice versa. It’s very convenient, especially when the party surges to 500 people at times. I look forward to returning with AOKC again!

On a terribly dreary day, we stopped in for lunch. Love the TV’s…perfect for the sports lovers. Enjoyed refreshing beverages while we waited for our burgers. My burger was near perfect topped with Gouda & crunchy bacon(maybe the meat could have been a little more seasoned) and the pretzel bun was the softest I’ve ever had. Made for an enjoyable KC P&L experience.

Great bar food here. The house special wings are some of the best I’ve ever had, perfect sauce and crispyness. Other food was good too. Great drink selection and specials. Make sure to check this place out!

A coworker and I were in town on a business trip and looking for a nice sports bar to grab some food and a beer. We found Johnny’s which happened to be a block or so away from our hotel. We ordered a Nuke Laloosh pizza and some Simmons wings which were fried and then grilled; both were excellent and reasonably priced. Service was excellent, ample amount of TVs as well. I would definitely recommend or visit again the next time I am in KC.

Was okay, but wanted to charge us $ 10 to enter the outside Power and Light area so we could access our car? It’s 30 degrees outside and 11:30 at night, and they made us walk around the block. Really? Won’t be back.

Ok so I’ve only been here twice, but loved both times. Once with my family for lunch and a second time for the World Series. I will say that it was perfect when it wasn’t busy and there wasn’t much going on, and it was perfect with 5,000 people and no room to even stand. When I came for lunch with my family there were maybe only a handful of people at the bar. Our waitress was awesome and friendly, I can’t remember her name… I don’t remember what we ate either so let’s just skip to World Series time. So World Series 2014, it’s ridiculous. I can’t believe we even got into Johnny’s from the outside. No room to stand. No room to walk. We already had a few to drink before coming here and were pretty hungry. How are we going to get any food with 5,000 people here? Johnny’s, that’s how. We ordered two beers and an entire pizza. The beers took only a minute and we got the pizza in 15. At least I think it was. It oculd have been an hour for all I know. The pizza was great, especially when you have been drinking. We just got a regular pepperoni but it was delicious. On a side note, we had 3 other patrons hold our pizza box while we ate, standing in the middle of the bar. Just picture that for a minute. There was TVs everywhere. Like… I thought we were at Best Buy. I really, really like this place if you want to go watch a game or just chill at the bar in an awesome part of town.

Not impressed with this place. The waitress was very slow and the place was not packed. The seating was seat yourself, so it took the staff twenty minutes to even notice us. The table was dirty and the waitress was annoyed we wanted it cleaned. Had no idea what the well whiskey special was, when asked the beer special, same thing and didn’t want to ask anyone else. I ordered the bud light draft since she seamed to know what that was. When I asked how big the burgers were, 8 Oz or 1⁄3 pound, the waitress said«they are about this big around and made a circle with her hands. My wife got the Cuban, which should be a classic, this one was awful tasting and the after taste didn’t go away. The wait staff should know the food and drinks. Won’t be back to johnny’s.

Ended up here by accident when a lunch date with two others suggested it. I’ve put in plenty of visits to the original Johnny’s in Lawrence but was braced for a totally different kind of experience ala P&L District. They didn’t let me down. So, OK, sports bar with beer and bar food, but I’d heard the food was good. Wasn’t our experience. Started with an appetizer of wings with blue cheese and ranch. Decent, but how hard is it to do wings, really? My Grilled Mahi plate came with authentic canned limp pineapple, a side of tartar sauce that was more mayonnaise than anything, and virtually no taste or character. Bland as hell. I typically don’t salt bar food but I was looking for anything to perk this up – salt, pepper, Tabasco. Came with a side of overcooked vegetables that remained ¾ untouched, and I love vegetables. A totally unappetizing lunch as the most expensive entrée ordered. My lunch pals had the chicken strip platter and the fish and chips. When asked how their lunch was both sort of shrugged, «OK.» Total bill with and iced tea, coke and tip, $ 60+. Priced accordingly for the area, I get it. Service: awkward, slow, almost slightly annoyed at our presence it seemed. Example: we spilled the blue cheese dressing that came with the wings. Since we specifically ordered the dressing we expected to hear«let me clean that up and get you some more.» Instead, a handful of napkins placed on the table and«would you like me to get you some more?» Gee, we ordered it in the first place so the question was more a sign of «wow, do I have to do MORE work here?» Waiting out the bill there was a clear air from the staff of, «OK, lunch is over now lets relax.» Otherwise, uneventful. I’d have drinks and finger snacks or a burger and fries if I found myself here not by my own choice, but wouldn’t order a meal again. I could see myself watching a KU game from here but not hanging out with the crowd after the Big 12 tournament when you see people lined up to get in. No thanks, I’ll leave that to someone else.
