Four floors of vintage and antiques. The best part was the old working freight elevator. I love it!

So, I was just accosted by this woman coming down the elevator at Le Fou Flea, seemingly the owner, who went ballistic because I picked up a 1970s era, bicentennial candlestick phone to examine further. She proceeded to tell me, quite excitedly, that«all the men» come in and break things. I told her that was a sexist comment(although I was more angry that she was suggesting I couldn’t handle something that was for sale!). And, as people without logic and understanding often do, she tried to make her point further: «Well I wouldn’t say it, except it’s true.» I told her she wouldn’t need to worry about me, because I won’t be back. Looking at Facebook and Unilocal and other online reviews, it’s clear that this woman has irked a number of customers – for many different reasons – to the point where these folks have vowed not to return. If you’re the kind who likes confrontation, or simply wants to reward a clueless, rude shop owner, try out Le Fou Flea.

A few good vendors scattered amongst the floors — just wished that they were in a different venue so that a person didn’t have to deal with the owner of the business — a woman who can & will go off on customers & vendors alike at the drop of a hat. As in SCREAMING going off. Vendors usually only stick around for a month or so before they wise up & leave for greener pastures. Ugly Glass that was on the 4th floor was a delight to behold — they have now left as well, having moved to another venue in the Bottoms. There are so many wonderful stores in the West Bottoms of KC — you shouldn’t have to put up with a cray cray person to enjoy shopping — save yourself and go elsewhere.

This was an interesting store to look around in, on our way to Ugly Glass on the top floor. If you’re into local license plates, Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys books, and other old things, take a quick loop through here.
