Peachtree Buffet

It’s been at least 10 years since I’ve had Peach Tree and it was actually this location. Better than what I expected and remembered! Everything that I tried was delicious. My husband wasn’t too crazy about the smothered pork chops and mom wasn’t impressed with the the greens but, my sister raved about the cabbage. Fried chicken, green beans and Mac was good. The rolls were amazing! I wish I could say the same about the service.
Overall, good selection and very affordable. I wish I could leave 3.5 starts but, 4 would seem a little ambitious considering the lack of service we received.

My husband and I came here while we were in Kansas City at a conference. I was really hungry for Southern comfort food and found this buffet restaurant. $ 15 for all you care to eat and includes a drink. Our server Rylan was professional and very attentive. The fried catfish was fresh and the fried chicken was tasty. I loaded up on the boiled veggies including cabbage, collard greens, and sweet potato chunks. I could taste the brown sugar in the sweet potatoes, like it could’ve been dessert. A lot of the food had a little kick to it, probably hot sauce. I had the peach cobbler for dessert and it was delicious. The server asked if I wanted a scoop of vanilla ice cream to go with it. The jazz music was perfect for the environment. The restaurant is definitely older but kept pretty clean.

Fried chicken rocked. Perfectly cooked, juicy, tender, flavorful. Just perfect. They cook in small batches so everything’s fresh.
Ribs were full length such that the tips were still attached. Great smoky flavor. Not the fall off the bone type but rather they serve ribs that you have to chew on a bit. Flavor would have been great even without the sauce.
Sweet potato corn bread. Secret ingredient must be crack. Seriously… how the hell did they make those things so damn good?!?
Chocolate cake was also amazing. Clearly made in house with a frosting that was scratch made. Very moist and tasty. Any other place this would have been a huge surprise but after that meal it was just not out of place.
The only downside is that they didn’t have butter for the muffins. Country Crock just doesn’t cut it.
About 13 bucks for dinner and worth every cent.

This place was amazing! Found this place on the fly visiting from Dallas. Never have I had a soul food buffet so delicious! Buttery rolls, cheesy homemade style Mac n cheese, greens, cabbage the works! I’ll definitely be back.

Buffet with soul food, had the best fried chicken and collard greens. Spouse had the same meal and her corn and potatoes were very tasty, she really liked the corn bread muffins. Desserts were good but maybe not home made. Beverage selection was average, strawberry lemonade just a little watery.
Catfish was good too. The help was very friendly, got there at closing and still had a good meal, all food was still fresh.

Food is good and fresh… sweet tea was freshly brewed… I will be back… more times than I probably should

Gone downhill steadily. Whomever owns/​runs this place now has improved none of the deficiencies, and created a slew of others. I used to go here weekly. Now every time I go, something is always wrong with the food. It’s either ‘luke’ warm on the warmer, or scorching hot other times. I’ve burned my fingertips repeatedly on their tongs. The only thing ever consistently hot!
Most of the time the food has been out too long and is dried out or barely enough to put on your plate. They also take FOREVER to bring out new food (of any kind). The restaurant puts ‘sweetener’ in almost everything now. It used to be subtle & enhance the sweet corn, but now it’s just sticky and unreal. Same with most other sides. Her only ingredients seem to be sorghum and hot sauce. All of them used in excess to a point where the food just sux. The desserts are usually ice cream that they can’t serve cuz it’s frozen solid and cake slices that have dried out in a case all day. I don’t even touch their salad bar cuz I have never seen anyone ‘maintaining’ it.
Service has never been good at ANY Peachtree. This one is no different, but it is actually getting worse. My last visit, the restaurant still had an hour before closing time but I couldn’t get a tea refill cuz I was told «it’s low, and they’re ‘almost’ closed so…» And they also ran out of straws. And the owner doesn’t let customers have the extra ‘bigger’ napkins even when you request it. The tiny ones are for drinks. Shouldn’t matter if a customer asks. It’s insane. I think I’m finally done with this place and had to tell others.

My friend described Peachtree Buffet perfectly: «If you didn’t make it to church, will you will get saved going to Peachtree Buffet.» I went on a Sunday afternoon. It is definitely the spot for black families after church. We arrived around 2 p.m. and it was PACKED! We pushed our way through the crowd inside to the counter. We waited about 30 minutes for a table. A dinner for an adult was about $ 16 (this includes a drink). IT WAS SOOOOO WORTH IT! The food was amazing! The fried chicken, baked chicken, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, corn, string beans and cornbread was AMAZING! I’m from the South. It taste just like home. I wasn’t a fan of the chopped BBQ. The banana pudding was ON POINT! If you want a meal that touches your SOUL, you gotta go to Peachtree.

had their food catered and it was good. the fried catfish was the star of the day. perfectly seasoned… the mac and cheese was so cheesy and good… my only complaint is the peach cobbler was a bit runny… and had little to no actual peaches in it… but the flavoring of the cobbler was all that!!! I will definately be back! Love it!!!

I recently visited Peachtree Buffet on a Wednesday night. We paid before being seated $ 26– drinks included for two people– which was an amazing price for the buffet style, high quality, soul food I had.
Tonight, on the buffet they had, fried chicken, baked chicken, fried fish, baked fish, neck bones, mashed potatoes and gravy, Mac and cheese, cabbage, greens, green beans, corn, dinner rolls, dessert cake, peach cobbler, and sweet cornbread rolls.
Out of that, I ate the fried chicken, neck bones, fried fish, Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, greens, cabbage, a roll, and 3 pieces of the sweet cornbread. You MUST try the sweet cornbread. It’s sooo buttery and taste homemade. I think I got a fresh batch. My husband also highly recommended the baked fish. He said it was the best he’s ever eaten. All of the food taste like my grandmas cooking… But better. Don’t tell her that though. Everything is very well seasoned and just so so good!
For the price, and the high quality, fresh, food– they deserve 5 stars. The only inconvenience is that it is a bit out of the way of Overland Park. I wish there were more soul food places in OP!
Sorry I didn’t get any pictures. Today was my diet cheat day, and I was just so excited to eat, my plate was already dug into before I even thought about snapping any photos. That’s how good the food is.
Every once in a while, you just need some comfort food. This is the place for that. Makes me miss living in the south sooo bad.

Took my mother here for birthday, and I’ll definitely good back. The chicken and catfish was delicious. The rolls were nice and buttery. Customer service was excellent, our waitress made sure we had everything we needed.

This place is SOUL-​delicious!!! Great variety on the buffet… mac & cheese, collard greens, sweet potato muffins and fried chicken is always All-​Star items on my plate! The items are full of flavor and steaming hot!
Reasonably priced (usually some good deal going on mid week if you ask) & super attentive friendly service!

The kids and I ate at peach tree tonight, and absolutely loved it. The mac n cheese was creamy and delicious. The fried chicken and tilapia was much better then Strouds. The kids can’t wait to go back. The young lady who waited on us was very attentive and pleasant.

Delicious. Some of the best green beans I’ve ever had. I grew up in rural Texas, and this buffet reminds me of the family get-​togethers and holiday meal spreads.

Best soul food in KC, and a buffet to boot ! Cant get no better… Cant wait to go back

Buffet … that says it all. There’s lots of food and you won’t leave hungry.
Two friends and I went on a Friday evening within an hour of closing time and the cooks kept refreshing the lines as if it was the middle of a business day. That’s always a good sign.
The Friday menu includes fried and baked catfish (what I went there for), fried and baked chicken, greens, cabbage, mashed potatoes & gravy, mac n cheese with *real* cheddar cheese, green beans, carrots, yams and an assortment of rolls including sweet potato muffins.
Service with a smile included the «inside info» that the tartar sauce is made in-​house.
This place serves soul food with a smile and a soul.

I was in town for a family reunion with cousins. The 1^st night being here I heard about this restaurant from a few cousins who went there to eat already. Me and my girlfriend ended up eating there the next night. I wasn’t prepared for how good this food was going to be. FOOD WAS GREAT!
All the food sitting out for the buffet was nothing short of great, all the flavors were good and staff was very courteous. I still can’t believe how good the food is and I don’t even live in this state (I live in Sacramento, CA). Best meal I’ve had the whole year.
I didn’t have everything from the salad bar but I had everything else offered (chicken, fish, sweet potatoes greens, macaroni, and much more). I wanted to try all of it because I won’t be back in town anytime soon (our family reunions have been in a different state every two years so I had to make the best of it lol). If you are thinking of trying this restaurant then don’t hesitate!

Wow. Atlanta comes to KC. What a great place. The good is unbelievable and I’m so glad I found it. It’s a buffet with flavor. Don’t miss this place. Love it.

Great soul food buffet and great for large groups. Get here before 8pm and enjoy a good mix of chicken and fish. Greens were on point!

Sunday after church Soulfood Special! Since I don’t frequent church… Sorry mom… I should’ve come a bit earlier but a line out the door isn’t a bad thing.
Food was good. Idk who can honestly say that they mama didn’t use canned food… And if yours didn’t… You shouldn’t be eating here anyways. So enough of that talk.
The greens were fresh and full leaves. Not all mushy and smashed. The grits were good. Really good. Chicken was top 3 in KC. So juicy and crispy and great spice. Mac & Cheese wasn’t gourmet, but it had good flavor and let’s be honest… Your mom’s Mac & Cheese wasn’t made with all those cheeses you can’t even spell. The peach cobbler was a winner! Seriously surprised as dessert is usually an afterthought for me. Almost every dish was fresh (packed house) and had great texture and flavor. Drinks and dessert was included. You ain’t getting more for your $ anywhere else.
Service was friendly and courteous. They were good to all who entered. Granted the front desk/​line is stressful and seating isn’t as organized as you’d like. But it’s whatevers. Just chill.
Today it was hot and humid as hell… Only fans on… Not cold but still cool enough to enjoy your food.
