One of the best places to get fried fish The sides are amazing, my favorite is the Mac n cheese. This is a must when in Kansas City! Take it from a local and be sure to stop by to experience for yourself!

Growing up in Oklahoma, fried catfish is one of my greatest guilty pleasures. The crispy, flavorful crust on soft, flaky fish with a generous helping of southern classic sides like hush puppies and okra keeps me up at night. Lutfi’s fills that little southern part of my soul that I like to keep hidden as I pretend to be a city boy. This is definitely a restaurant built on passion for good food, and it shows with every bite of their delicious food.

Perfect solution to royals rainout. Found this through Unilocal.Did the 2 pound catfish 4 wings plus sides. 2 adults 3 kids. Sides were green beans(spicy yum), mac cheese(cheesy creamy), fries and onion rings(ok). They brought us 5 smoked wings also. Really good. Loved the catfish. Must hit family joint a few miles from Kauffman/Arrowhead.

All the food I’ve had tastes excellent. I have been here over 20 times and all the food is the same, consistently very good. The service is very friendly. The wait is typical for freshly prepared food. Hot tasty fish, greens and green beans seasoned amazing, solid hush puppies, tasty red beans and rice, okra, sweet potato & regular fries good, best location in Kansas City metro I have found.

If you like fried fish and you haven’t tried Lutfi’s — you are doing yourself a disservice. AMAZING fried fish — reallllly good fried okra, really just everything is good. If I had room to eat everything… I would. Good service, good food and no frill’s attitude makes this a fantastic spot to go anytime for good food.

Great place for a quick meal! I went in and ordered it to go. It was ready in less than 15 minutes. We had the family meal with catfish, mac & cheese & red beans and rice! Soooooo good! We also got some hush puppies, but a large was way to big. So unless you have 6 – 8 people… get the small. The large order had like 24 hush puppies! We would definitely eat there again!

New to the area fresh from Cali we found the best fried fish in the Midwest! Lutfi’s Fried Fish in Raytown rocks all the way out! I am addicted! This place can burn in their southern kitchen just like my Momma Dixie used to do back in the day. Thank you for bringing back that comfort feeling Lufti’s. My advice is to skip the rest… Check out the best in a cozy little gem of a restaurant with warm and friendly staff that show the love :)

My family and I tried Lutfi’s for the first time tonight and we were all blown away. We walked in and were struggling to narrow down all the sides we wanted to try as well as how much catfish to order. The man behind the counter was very nice and told us our best bet would be the family meal which came with 2lbs of catfish, 2 large sides and bread. We ordered the two sides he said were most popular which were Mac and cheese and green beans, and then some red beans and rice, greens, and hush puppies too. The food came out and we were quick to try everything. No one at our table had any complaints, which is rare since we’re all a bit picky in our own way. Everything was great! We practically fought over the last hush puppy, definitely should have ordered a large. We all found ourselves saying«I’m so full but it’s all so good I can’t stop eating!» That’s definitely a sign of a great restaurant. We’ll be back for sure.

Lufti’s is truly a diamond in the rough; relative to the very short list of bearable restaurants in Raytown. A friend and I used to go there every night after work. It would be close before closing time and I know how customers who tend to do that get annoying. However, the employees never once showed a grain of annoyance and always made us feel welcomed. Customer service is absolutely wonderful. The charm of an employee is very important to me. It has that feel of a south grown fish fry grub spot; that can quickly turn you into a regular. Every once in a awhile they will get their whole cat, and that is what I order every time it is available. My back up meal is a standard 4 cat fingerlings. I recommend getting red beans and Mac as your sides and mixing in the generous amounts of hot sauce they give you. If you prefer bland foods then this is NOT the place for you. In the end, I truly enjoy a nice soulful meal that has been seasoned to perfection and if you agree; then this is the place for you.

The first thing I love is the friendly service. I went in to grab lunch to go. The woman behind the counter was so genuinely happy and nice. When I told her it was my first time there, she share lots of things about the menu. I decided to go with the lunch special which was three pieces of fish and two sides. When she asked me if I wanted catfish or whiting, I told her to pick and she immediately said, «Catfish.» I like just about anything so I ordered the sides she suggested which was cole slaw and mushrooms. All the food was great. I liked that the fish was breaded not battered. I also like that mushrooms were hot all the way through, which seems hard for some places to accomplish. Finally, I appreciate that she was not stingy with condiments like hot sauce, tarter sauce, and ranch dressing. I will definitely be visiting again! Oh, and the dessert! When I went to the counter to pick up my order I saw the glass case refrigerator with the desserts. They looked amazing, but I made myself leave with out one. That won’t happen again!

This is one of those hole-in-the-wall joints you must try with great food in large servings. You get 3 pieces of fried fish with 2 sides — more than one person can eat. Served with texas toast and a very good home made tartar sauce. I had the whiting, having had a bad catfish experience in the past, with sweet potato fries and red beans and rice. No complaints! It was a lot of food and they really know how to cook it! Everything is served in styrofoam containers and I think that’s because they know you will need to take leftovers home :-) Nothing was greasy, everything tasted great. I love to support a small business, and I’ll come back for sure. The service was quick and friendly, we were asked several times if we needed anything, and our drinks were never empty. Check it out!

I didn’t realize Lufti’s existed in Raytown, until it was pointed out to me. It’s the same Lufti’s that is on Parallel in Kansas City, KS, which I am very familiar with. Lufti’s is down home, no frills and looks like it could be snuggled in an area in the Ozarks. Lufti’s sells catfish and chicken, plus a couple of other choices. they are the only place in this area that does what they do, and they fry that catfish well. You walk in, and are greeted by a smiling face, and a menu. For 8.39(approx.) you can get 12 pound of fried catfish. For 12.00(approx.), you can get 1 lb. There’s all you can eat on Sundays. With your selection, you get 2 sides. Go ahead and try to choose just 2. I chose onion rings, and red beans a rice. Good choice. Out of green beans, hush puppies, red beans and rice, onion rings, French fries, cole slaw, it was tough to choose. The meal comes with 2 pieces of potato bread. You can choose your fish to be blackened or steamed; never in my life would I succumb to that. The restaurant is long and narrow. There is a room for parties or meetings, called the«Obama Room.» There is atleast one television. There’s a few tables, nothing fancy whatsoever. I sat and waited for my to go food. It took about 10 minutes. The woman at the counter asked me if I wanted hot sauce. I answered, ‘I never turn down hot sauce with fried fish.” The fish is served in styrofoam containers, mine, to go. When I arrived home, and started eating, I remembered how much I loved Mad Jack’s on Minnesota Ave, in Kansas City, KS. The fish was perfect, and hot sauce made it oh so good. I swear, I could eat a pound of it. Oh yeah… Lufti’s knows their fish, and has their frying skills is the bomb.

Lutfi’s has been on my short list of Good Food places here in Raytown ever since they were in the little building on the corner of Raytown Road and 67th St. When they relocated to their current location 75 yards north(and with much better parking) I was delighted and became a more frequent customer. I ALWAYS get the catfish, so I can’t speak personally about the other selections. But if the whiting, orange roughy and chicken are anywhere near as good as the catfish, so much the better. The sides are always fresh and have true southern appeal. My absolute favorites are the greens and the green beans which are both seasoned to my idea of perfection. And the red beans and rice have just the right amount of heat. Lutfi’s is a casual kind of place where you give your order at the counter and the dining room is clean but not fancy. Service is efficient and since you are not dealing with«fast food» here, you need to be willing to wait for your food to be freshly made and brought to your table piping hot. But it is the food that is the star here. And it’s the food that makes Lutfi’s shine!

Lutfi’s Fried Fish is an undiscovered hide-away in Raytown, Missouri that stands as the middle ground between Long John Silver’s and Red Lobster. Tucked into a strip mall, Lutfi’s serves amazing catfish with a warm smile. The man behind the counter was as friendly as they come; he enthusiastically recommended their most popular dishes and proudly claimed that their green beans were so phenomenal that people travel across the state to buy platters full of the beans for the holidays. Their fish menu is simple, but the wide variety of side dishes and desserts is astounding. Sides include spaghetti, okra, and sweet potato fries among a long list of other dishes. Desserts include red velvet cake and lemon bars, among others. If you come expecting fine, sophisticated dining, you will be disappointed. Your meal is served to you in a Styrofoam container with plastic silver ware. You even have to walk up to the counter to request a re fill on your drink. Lutfi’s may lack in sophistication, but they make up for it with charm and delicious side dishes. Lutfi’s is not the place to impress a first date, but more of a hang out spot on a Friday night with a group of friends.
