Overlooked eggs(they had brown streaks) dry sausage cooked early and left on grill to stay warm and dry out. I can’t imagine how much worse it could be if they have a rush.

Best airport food I’ve ever had! The ribs were phenomenal and I got a tank 7 to go with it for $ 6 bucks… love me some Kansas City BBQ

It’s always hard to have good food in airports! But here my Cobb salad was pretty good!(I can’t speak for the rest of the menu) It was HUGE and had tons of things in it! I added Malt vinegar and Tobasco for more flavors! Service was quick and nice.

Slow to get seated. Hostess eventually came. Order was taken quickly. Food took forever to come out and one entrée was cold. Guess it got done before the fish & chips and just sat there. Never offered any sweetener for the tea. Thank goodness I had my own. I looked and the sweetener is less than 3 feet away. Looks really fun but not

I enjoyed my experience at Pork & Pickle despite traveling all day with my wife and two small children during a very short layover. It had everything I wanted and it was served up hot and fast. I thought the beer selection was pretty good and my service was also more than acceptable. We did not have much time to relax and eat but the staff and other travelers were kind enough not to judge us for scarfing and guzzling like a herd of zombies upon a fallen cow.

Sadly, the food here disturbs my gluten sensitivity. So this review is very personal that way. I’ve tried to dine here twice, and can do so no more. They have seating upstairs and are inside security. If you have a large bag, you can use an elevator. Otherwise, take the stairs up. Most of the seating is configured for single patrons, or pairs. If you are here with your family, it might be hard to find a place to sit. For a BBQ joint, there’s an awful lot of carbsy fried food on the menu. They have quite a few drinks and beers that I have seen on their drink menu. It’s a loud and crowded little space. I have dined here once seated at a table, and the service was okay. I wish the kitchen had been faster. Fair warning, this place is pretty isolated from the terminal by virtue of being upstairs. I wouldn’t come up here if there was a possible status change in my flight(like if my flight were delayed – you never know when suddenly that becomes NOT the case anymore, and now you get left behind!).

Okay, so maybe I’m spoiled by the DC airport having a ton of really great food selections but this was a big let down. My boyfriend and I had about an hour until our next flight and were looking for dinner. We luckily were sat within 5 minutes of waiting in an already crowded restaurant. Our waitress was great for the first part, taking orders and getting our drinks, but then she disappeared the rest of the meal until having to flag her down so we could pay. I will say the homemade pickles are worth it! They were the standout and absolute best part of the meal. I should have just ordered two plates of pickles then grabbed some chips at a kiosk before boarding. Everything else left so much to be desired. I couldn’t finish my sweet tea cocktail, our portion of beef brisket was half fat and completely dry, coleslaw was neither creamy or vinegary – just dry, and continuing with the theme the cornbread mini muffin and fries were also lacking moisture and flavor. To try and save the meal I wanted to order the cookies to leave on a sugar high. Well, they were out. And so were we. We paid and left. And I had time to visit a kiosk and get my cookie. Maybe this was just an off night for everyone, or just the particular platter we ordered, but I won’t be rushing back here on connecting flights anytime soon.

One of the best airport restaurants you can find. Always happy here! One complaint is the limited selection of pickles. How can your name have Pickle in it, and all you serve is sweet pickles?! Otherwise, great food.

Even for an airport restaurant the food was lacking. The sliders and Parmesan fries were calories at best. The staff also spent a good amount of time complaining among themselves about one of their coworkers. I’m sure the beer and cocktails are fine.

You don’t have a ton of options at the KC airport when it comes to food. It’s either the pre-made airport salads and sandwiches or the Pork and Pickle. And it’s pretty decent for being an airport restaurant. They have a sizable beer offering and their food is pretty good. Their BBQ doesn’t compare to real KCBBQ, so don’t judge all of KC if you don’t make it outside of the airport. I usually stick with a bratwurst when I come, the portions are huge and it’s more food than one person can eat. Next time I go, I plan on trying to the cheese fries, I saw a kid next to me eating them and they looked awesome.

Thank goodness for this addition to the food selection at the airport and on the right side of the security check point. Drinks are cold and good. Food is good and it certainly is nice to have breakfast before you grab that morning plane. BBQ well come on this is KC and you just can’t compete on BBQ flat out. Not bad but just not what we in KC would like to show off. Overall great service friendly people morning noon or night. Sometimes I grab a beer with a friend prior to picking up my luggage.

Stopped here today before our flight home… so happy we did! I had the dirty mac & cheese and wasn’t disappointed. It was delicious! My husband had the smoked brisket and enjoyed it as well.

This location is located inside the security area at the Kansas City airport. It smells wonderful when you walk in. Breakfast is served all day and there is a large variety of BBQ items. I got the smoked turkey sandwich. It was excellent. If you are looking for a good place to eat while waiting for your flight give this a try.

Had to crash here for a an hour waiting for a flight. Couple of good local beers on tap. Service was fast and chatty, made the time pass quickly. Thanks!

In an otherwise barren landscape at MCI, Pork & Pickle offers an elevated island of opportunity beyond security in Concourse B to pass the layover with decent food and good beer. I am sad to admit it, but skip the Boulevard Brew Pub in favor of this place. Midday on a Sunday before Labor Day weekend I saddled up to the bar and was happy to find some plugs to charge my phone at knee-level. Going up a flight of stairs really does help one mentally separate themselves from the less-than-desirable existence in a somewhat cramped airport. The relaxed bbq theme is accented with a white tin ceiling and mason jar water glasses, but I was sad that the menu was void of the traditional Kansas City burnt ends. As Chris O. mentioned, this isn’t a good stop for vegetarians, but I was pleased to see a Farmers Market location, albeit before security. They always have Tank 7 Farmhouse Ale on tap, along with a rotating Boulevard seasonal, which at the time was an Oktoberfest. Plenty of other widely distributed beers are on tap or in bottles, but I was pleased to see another local representative — KC Bier’s Marzen. The pork sausage I ordered was grilled, which provided a decent snap with the casing and course mustard on the pretzel bun was a nice compliment, although the fries were a bit lacking. The service was prompt and positive, although I did have the benefit of being there when it was half-full and on a 3 hour layover. I expect that Pork & Pickle doesn’t hold a candle to any of the real bbq places in KC, but does a solid job by airport standards. Considering the lack of other available options, I was thankful Southwest brought me by this little spot.

Made a quick stop here for a snack before boarding my plane back to San Diego. I went with the pork and fried pickle appetizer. The fried pickles were delish! I loved the light breading and they came hot out of the fryer. Unfortunately the pork was a disappointment. The small chunks were smokey, but the overall texture was dry and overcooked. All in all, it wasn’t terrible by any means. The waitress was really nice about packaging it to-go, just in case I needed to jump on the plane at a moment’s notice.

The only sit down restaurants beyond security in Terminal B of Kansas City’s international airport, Pork & Pickle doesn’t offer much to vegetarians, and what it does offer, it didn’t get right for breakfast this time around. This is not my first time here: I’ve eaten here a few times for lunch and dinner while waiting for flights. Mac & cheese, fried appetizers, etc. are nice and filling before flights. But for breakfast, Pork & Pickle was disappointing. You actually can’t order any items a la carte, or that’s what my server told me. Like, you can’t order two eggs. So I ordered the tots and sunny side up eggs without sausage and bacon. If you take a look at the eggs I was served, there’s a significant uncooked portion of egg whites on each egg. I didn’t have the time to ask them to recook the eggs, so I ended up powering through. The tater tots are nice, though. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside — check. I’ll probably be back to Pork & Pickle out of necessity until the airport decides to centralize security. It does have that great diner smell and there’s an elevator straight up to it, making it feel more exclusive.

For an airport restaurant it is not bad. The atmosphere is meh. We split the dirty mac and cheese. I was on the fence about ordering this but a local made the recommendation so I went for it. I am glad I did. It was really YUM. Having a single bowl split between the two of us(hubby and myself) was the perfect breakfast – yeah you read that right. We had it for breakfast. So if you find yourself at the Kansas City airport and want to get something that satisfies, give this place a go. It is slim pickings once you go past security. This was the best pick of the small offerings. 5 Halley puppies sitting up.

For being an HMS Host airport concessionaire in KCBBQ country, they do a respectable job. However, don’t think you are going to squeeze in a quick sandwich before running to your plane! I would only recommend this stop for food if you have at least an hour before you need to board. The seating area is unfortunately small for being the only real restaurant inside security. We were in line for a table behind one other couple and it took at least 20 minutes before we got seated. Once we did get a table, however, it was a perfectly pleasant cloth napkin BBQ experience. They have a decent selection of beer on tap(including all the usual local brews) and the meat itself is pretty decent by KC standards. The sauce is a little generic and the portions are a little small(again, only by KCBBQ standard) but nothing to complain about. The staff manage to stay friendly despite the chaos, and while they don’t try to push you out to turn the table immediately, they are happy to process you and the bill as fast as you need. If you have the time, it’s a great escape from the over-crowded waiting area. If you have to catch your flight within a half hour, you’re stuck elsewhere with a cold sandwich or overpriced BK.

Check in through security and go upstairs! Believe or not but this BBQ joint was highly recommended by the taxi driver, hotel concierge and a security guard. I personally had the soup, and well it was pretty good! I did sample a slider which I highly recommend. The service is good and well worth a bite before your flight. And if you feel like you missed out on the Kansas City BBQ experience while in town, this place defiantly will help you get your fill. Overall: Food: 4 – 5 Drink: 4 – 5 Service: 4 – 5 Coming back: yes
