Precision Optics

Dr Jill is so cool. She’s super laid back and her office isn’t so busy that if I wake up with a problem, she can’t see me that day or the next. The ladies at the front desk are super helpful and very kind. I have been wearing contacts or glasses for 23 years and in that time, I’ve never been to a optometrist office that was so intimate and knowledgable. A perfect example was when I went in the other day because I’d been having trouble with my Night and Day contacts seriously inflaming my eye. I’d gone through 6 months worth in only 4 months because I couldn’t wear them longer than 2 – 3 weeks and I’d just thrown out my last pair. The lady at the front desk looked up my insurance and scheduled an appointment the first available day. When I told her my glasses were two prescriptions behind, she gave me a 30-​day supply of contact lenses to get me though. Dr Jill came over and offered me the «daily wear» ones because my eyes had been so distressed lately. What ridiculously personalized, caring service! I tell all my friends to come here because she really is just the best :)

I needed to use my VSP and I called and got an appointment in 1.5 weeks. In and out. Literally… The Optometrist is detailed and efficient. Explained what she needed to. Gave me a new set of contacts to try. No pressure to buy. I came back a week later and used my benefits here. Fantastic!

Doctor Jill is chill and badass. Let her have her way with your eyes. Also their office is quicker than you could possibly expect, and they won’t jerk you around about anything. Their Westport location is pretty central to the city, so it helped me take the minimum time off work to get checked out.

I had a really fantastic experience with Dr. Jill and staff. I have dealt with pushy sales people when purchasing glasses, but her staff was friendly, helpful, and patient. There was no pressure to order today and I appreciate the time the staff took to explain all processes and procedures. I would definitely recommend Precision Optics to anyone looking for an eye doctor. Not to mention, I was in and out of my appointment in less than an hour.

I like Dr. Smith a lot. She is easy to interact with and seems good at what she does. That part of Precision Optics is fine.
Like other small boutique shops they don’t have a huge selection of frames – that’s no knock against them. Also their prices seem comparable to other boutique optical shops. You can get much cheaper glasses at the discount chains or online, but if you want high-​end glasses and good service you go to a shop like this.
Unfortunately I did not get either high-​quality glasses or good service from the optical shop at Precision Optics. First the quality of the lab services was not good. My glasses came back with problems to the AR coating (visibly defective), and then the mounts were uneven, requiring yet another re-​make, each of which took at least a week and half.
The big problem I had was that I found the customer service in the optical shop not at all good. The optician (Beverly?) seemed annoyed with me when I pointed out that the glasses had visible defects from the lab, and then made it seem like she was doing me a favor to fix the problems. Shouldn’t she have noticed these issues before giving them to me? And she never seemed to understand that it was really inconvenient for me to have to repeatedly come back to get my glasses. Also, I specifically ordered a Crizal AR coating, but when I had to get them fixed it turned out that the lenses had the «house brand» AR coating on them. Could not tell from the receipt which she charged me for. I could go on here, but this conveys my general experience.
Overall I felt like I spent a ton of money to get high-​end glasses, and got expensive frames with poor-​quality lab services and really poor customer service. This is not why I go to a boutique optical shop. I have since gone elsewhere and am much happier.

While I also like Dr. Jill, the optician gives the worst customer service I’ve ever had. I wanted to get new glasses prior to taking a trip. Gina, the optician, said there would be plenty of time to order the glasses and get them back. Well, I had to call repeatedly to ask about them – she almost never returns phone calls – and on the day before my trip they still weren’t back from the lab. Finally Gina said they would be back from the lab at 9:00 pm, and I could come by in the morning and get the glasses on my way to the airport! And when I stopped by in the morning to get the glasses, the sunglass clips that were supposed to be part of the order were missing!
When I came back to town I complained about the sunglass clips and they were ordered – but my glasses still had to go back to the lab so the magnetic clip attachments could be put in. So several days without the new glasses. And when they came back, with the clips, the clips were unusable because they kept coming loose at the nosepiece! It turned out that the lenses had not been attached properly, and guess what – yes, they had to go back to the lab!
This is the worst customer service i have ever experienced anywhere. Clearly the lab that this office uses isn’t worth a damn. And as far as Gina is concerned, not once did she call me back when she said she would, I always had to track her down. Once she said she couldn’t call me back because she lost my phone number. Unbelievable!

I just moved to Kansas City and was referred to Precision Optics by a co-​worker. Let me tell you, you would never expect such great service from an eye care provider. Dr. Jill is the most AMAZING doctor I’ve ever had the pleasure of dealing with. She is very caring and easy to work with. She explains everything she is doing, but keeps the appointment just quick enough. She also MADE SURE to look for the most affordable payment options. The facility is in a great location, and the inside is very nice, clean and modern.
Don’t know which contact brand you want to try? I left with three different samples she recommended for me and some special eye drops for my extra irritated eyes. It’s not often you have someone who is that willing to make sure you and your vision are happy.
I would never think to Unilocal about a doctors appointment, but Dr. Jill and her staff were just that awesome. It’s nice to have a doctor who actually cares about you; I will definitely go back and make a point to refer this place to everyone I know, even if they don’t ask. The only reason I felt the need to rush out of there was to write this review.

I had been struggling with wearing contacts for years — literally. Dr. Jill Smith conducted a very thorough and patient (heh-​heh) eye exam, and then suggested a brand of contacts that I had not yet tried. They made all of the difference. Woo!

I should preface this by saying that I did not buy glasses here, or get an eye exam… BUT they did tighten up my loose glasses so that they were no longer sitting crooked on my face. I explained my situation to the staff, letting them know that I had purchased my glasses elsewhere, and they told me that they would be more than happy to tighten up the screws for me. In just a few minutes I had my glasses back and they were in perfect working order. GREAT customer service! Because of this experience I can say that next time I’m due for a new pair of glasses that Precision Optics will be getting my business. I wish more businesses and employees were like the people I encountered at this establishment!

I didn’t get my eye exam here, but I did buy glasses. Probably won’t go back. Definitely will not buy the Lindberg glasses from Precision or anywhere else.
Shop is expensive — but nice eyewear selection — as long as you’re cool and trendy.

Dr. Jill Smith was extremely professional and very personable. As she was examining me, she explained exactly what she was doing each step of the way. I highly recommend her.

I found Precision Optics on both Unilocal and Google, both which offered good reviews. I made an appointment here for early on a Monday morning. I was in and out in no time.
Dr. Smith was very professional and thorough with her exam. She explained everything in detail. I was impressed with the service here, so I’ll definitely be back for next year’s eye exam too.

Good location, the staff are really friendly and attentive, they carry some great lines of eyewear and Dr Jill is awesome. She puts you at ease, explains what she is doing as she goes and answers all of your questions. Really not much more you can say.
