First time this location– proab last. Drive thru always slow– more so this time. Steak and shake seems to have a problem when you ask for no cheese– asked for double steak burger with no cheese and if course it had cheese. So over it. Happens every time.

Just waited 22 minutes in the drive through before my order was even taken. While waiting in line, two employees walked out the back door to smoke behind the trash dumpsters. Worst service I’ve ever gotten in fast food.

My friend and I have been eating at Steak ‘n Shake since we first went to St. Louis in 1968. We also enjoyed the food in Springfield, MO. They had the best coffee and great tasting burgers. So we know what the food should taste like. Went to lunch at 1 p.m. today and was surprised at how bad everything was. We had long since given up going through their drive-through. Every order was screwed up, and we started going inside to order out. That way we could check everything before we drove home. Today’s adventure was nothing good — ordered our usual coffee, burger and fries. Coffee was lukewarm and had a slightly moldy taste. Sent it back and was told it would take 3 minutes to brew another pot. OK. The burgers came out shortly after. My single was loaded with condiments, and my first bite was a mouthful of mustard. I opened the burger to see a great big blob of mustard, catsup and mayo, but only a sliver of burger meat. The other half of the burger had a small piece of meat(sigh). The fries were average. My friend had a bowl of chili(regular, he thought). It arrived lukewarm, VERY salty and had a hint of hot sauce. He couldn’t eat it, and he’s crazy about salty foods. Finally our coffees arrived. This time they were hot, weak and had a metallic taste. At that point we gave up and left. Giving up on this location for good.

I have always loved Steak N Shake. We used to hang out at one in my hometown every week in high school. I have always loved their food, and this location is no different. The food is always hot and seems fresh. The service however is horrendous. Don’t expect to leave the drive-thru in less than 10 minutes, and always check your order at the window before you pull off. The workers are generally friendly, just slow as can be and have trouble getting orders correct, even when you’re the only one in the drive-thru.

Cheap food in a fast food diner style setting. It’s not bad for a fast food option. I prefer Freddy’s any day over Steak n’ Shake, but I must admit, I rather enjoyed my burger with a fried egg on top!

Been to this steak and shake 3 times in the last month, all have been average. Food is ok, but they are consistently slow, adding to my pain today, ordered a root beer, they came to refill it and, oops, we they out… ok no biggie, go to order my guacamole burger, oops, they ran out of avocados. What the heck, I guess it’s my «bad» luck day… Then decided on the standard order, burger and fries, wow… I get an overcooked burger, but it did have my lettuce, tomato, onions and ketchup… now the fries, I thought were ok, but a friend of my considered them cold and kinda stale, after eating a couple, I tended to agree, but what can you expect from a $ 4 burger… on a high note, the Prince of Royal, a burger with a fried egg on top was a big hit with my son… he loved it… Looks like steak n shake is a great place to take the kids and catch up with friends, but bad if you’re in a big hurry… on a side note… its a pretty good deal feeding 6 people for $ 40…

Expect your tummy to hurt. A lot. One should always be weary of a $ 4 burger and fries. The only saving grace of this place… the shakes. Should just be a shake shop.

Been here more than a few times and the service is always brutally slow and in competent! I keep coming back only for the price and shakes! The food oh really isn’t bad, just the service is what’s so terrible!

I’ve been here a couple of time mostly for shakes. I like that it’s made to order. However, the last time I was there; there was a hair on my cheese. I didn’t complain, I just showed it to my server, and didnt eat anything else. honestly, I only come here for the shakes. I love them so… scary obsession really, I had 3 in one seating Dx. Mint cookies and cream shake is my favorite.

3.5 stars. I ate lunch here with my teammates. I felt this place was okay and it was mainly because of the steakburger I ate. I ordered the Western BBQ ‘N Bacon Steakburger($ 4.79) with fries. I was expecting it to have BBQ in it but there was so little. I know I could have asked for more BBQ sauce, but I’m rating it on how they prepared it which I’d assume anybody else would have not a lot of BBQ sauce like me. I probably will give that steakburger another chance but not anytime soon. There were other items on the menu that I wanted to try out first. The fries were good just like the other location I went to. Our server was nice and accommodating when we needed something. I’ll probably be back for lunch when I actually leave work for lunch.

A product from SoCal my friend and I had no idea where we were, but we were hungry and it was late… everything was closed… nothing open… we kept driving in the middle of no where when we spotted this beacon of light on top of a hill(at least that’s what it felt like)… never heard of Steak n Shake and I wasn’t sure what to order… my friend got a double burger and a special shake. I got the Frisco Burger with chipotle sauce and a peach shake, and fries… OMG the beef was superb… so flavorful and with the grilled sour dough bread it was a perfect combination… married with the chipotle sauce… wow… I was in Heaven. The other surprise was the peach shake… my mom used to make me homemade peach ice cream for my birthday… when I sipped this shake I thought I was ten years old and having a taste of my birthday treat. Needless to say, this place was a slam dunk for us. I honestly can’t remember too much of my friends meal because I was so fixated on mine… then the bill came and we were pleasantly surprised to find out how inexpensive the food was… and we later found out this was a chain… so we went again… but to a different one… but just as good. The sad news was that we had to go back home to SoCal… the good news was that I found one in Las Vegas… just as good… not an In n Out burger but just as good of quality and value. I guess this is the«In n Out» of the mid west. Great job guys.

3.5 *‘s — They have a new burger with BBQ sauce, fried onion strips, and Bacon — easily one of the best-tasting burgers I’ve ever had. :-) This location lost a star for Service: they messed up SixFootTwo’s order of grilled cheese(honestly, if I worked there I would have been ashamed to serve it — I would have sent it back), and the waitress forgot my pickle on the side — Twice. Other than that, I highly recommend the very tasty Western BBQ burger, with Cheese fries — they have the skinny fries here which I love. :-)

As a brand new vegetarian, this probably wasn’t the best place to go for lunch. It didn’t make me crave meat or anything… just that the vegetarian selections were few. But what can you expect from a place that specializes in steakburgers. All but one of their salads have meat on them. I did find a grilled cheese with fries and had a side salad. The sandwich was grilled on Texas toast… a bit to thick for my liking, but hey… beggars can’t be choosers… but good. As always the fries were the bomb… Hot, super thin & crispy. Perfect. I was satisfied with my lunch. Desserts are always fun here, I find the«side by side» shakes amusing… two flavors side by side in the same glass. Service wasn’t the greatest. Wolfie had to send his cheese fries back for the cheese, and getting a fork was an accomplishment. I had to go to the counter and tackle a server for it. I’d go back… if only for the fries.

I just paid my first visit to a Steak & Shake in what has to be over a decade. I couldn’t recall any memories of the place aside from the fact that I had been to one, so I agreed to go. The place has the old diner thing going on; tile floors and black & white checkering. You have to wait to be seated and there is wait service, but you have to go up and pay at the counter, which annoys the crap out of me. The menu mainly consists of burgers, melts, chili, miscellanious fried foods and shakes. You can get a sandwich by itself or as a platter, which is two sides of your choice, half of which will cost extra. I got a pepperjack melt with fries and a salad because I didn’t want to incur the extra charge for fruit. Ordering a salad or fruit from this place should be done at your own risk. My melt wasn’t bad. All of the toppings come on the side for you to put on yourself, which would be fine if I had a burger, but it’s kind of annoying having to pull a melt apart. The fries weren’t bad, but annoying. They have the really thin, shoestring-like fries that are awful to try to eat by hand. These are far and away my least liked type of fries. If I ever come here again, I’ll just take the up charge and get onion rings. Actually, if I ever come here again, I am going to get the chili 5-way with a bowl of chili and a kettle of beans as my sides so I can completely blow out my o-ring. Service was adequate. The food was edible. I would not personally choose to ever eat here again, but I would go along with a group decision.
