Fantastic coffee and great pastries. I had the lavender vanilla latte and my husband had the vanilla latte and we shared their Apple tart. It was so delicious. The service was quick considering the coffee was crafted to order. Everyone at the bar was smiling and friendly. Easy to find but be prepared for street parking.

Thou Mayest is the most West-coast reminiscent hipster place I’ve been to in KC. Which means I was primed to like it… We came here after we’d whet our appetites with some beer across the street. They have a cocktail menu of a few original drinks and several classics. Shoutout to Jason, our bartender who was happy to make me a spin on an old fashioned after I was too picky to accept the regular one on the menu ;). The interior looks like a great place to work, but the back patio is a fantastic place to chill on a nice summer day. I could see myself spending hours here. I mean, they’ve got everything I need — caffeine for the morning, and alcohol for the evening! Note: pop tarts do sell out; they were out by the time we arrived around 3−4pm.

This place just happened to be next to my lunch stop for the day and I decided to stop in and I’m really happy I did! Its a very cozy atmosphere with great fresh ground coffee, unique snacks, and liquor! What more could you want from a coffee shop? I had the season pour over, Equinox, and will be buying a bag for my mom. I also got adventurous and tried the Rose Doughnut with dried Rose petals on top. It was worth a try but I am excited to try something new next time I am there! The worker was very friendly and made me want to stop by again soon.

$$ Coffee is PRICEY but good(not my favorite but better than most). The décor is fun, in an older building with a place to sit outside. They have some locally made pastries that are very good early in the week but start getting dried out by Thursday or so.

With all of the great reviews that give four and five stars, I’m not sure how to say this nicely, so I’ll just come clean with it… I don’t love Thou Mayest. I’ve made several visits in the hopes that my lukewarm feelings about this place would heat up, but no such luck. I really want to like it, because the décor is fantastic and I love their music selection. It feels warm and cozy when you walk inside, like you are visiting a friends house. But, there are some problems. 1) They need to have a menu where people in line can see it, instead of sitting it on the counter so we have to make split decisions without really looking our options over. 2) They should make sure to never run out of their signature item… poptarts, and never let their pastry selection get down to less than four items(something we have experienced more than once here). Also, try heating the pastries up-it would help immensely. You buy them from Upper Crust Bakery, right? Well, they offer to heat the items up in there, so take note of that fact and follow suit. 3)The service here has always left a lot to be desired. Everything is very abrupt. The wait staff isn’t exactly unfriendly, but they are a far stretch from being customer service oriented. 4)The hot chocolate here is like hot water with just a touch of bittersweet cocoa powder in it. The iced coffee drinks are never well blended. Actual cocktails are ok, though. 5) If you are someone who actually lives downtown and don’t want to be swarmed by 20-something wannabe hipsters who put on their best pair of Chuck Taylors and drove in from the suburbs of Overland Park, try to come here on a weekday afternoon, not an evening or a weekend. Otherwise, you’ll regret your decision immediately.

It’s all true! Everything I have read and heard about Thou Mayest is true! It’s hipper than hip and the coffee is indeed delicious. We tried several of their treats including cookies and homemade pop tarts, which they said were from The Upper Crust and Heirloom Bakery. All was delicious. The pop tart was better than I expected it to be…:) Also, the staff the morning we were there was all gals and they were incredibly friendly and helpful. Love it, love it, love it. Will have to go for a cocktail too soon!

I was exploring the city one night with my best friend, and we happened to drive by this place and decided to give it a try. We’re both obsessed with ice vanilla lattes so we ordered those. It was honestly the best IVL I’ve ever had! The flavor of the coffee was very rich and that just made it perfect. ThouMayest is also a full bar, and the atmosphere is super cool. There’s a whole upstairs with comfy couches, games, and cool rustic tables and chairs to sit at and chat with friends or strangers. I wish this coffee house was closer to where I live, because I would be there literally every day!

Needed to ram up for my Fuller House marathon and caffeine was on the menu. Nice sunny day in February and a Chia Latte with gin sounded mighty fine. Sipped up my chai and talked dogs with the lovely ladies behind the counter. As the day progressed Thou Mayest started getting full so I headed home to settle into Fuller House. 10 mins into the first episode I grew annoyed with the laugh track. As if they need to hit you over the head because you the audience is too stupid to not get the joke. The problem was none of the jokes were funny. The plot as simplistic as it was It was made zero sense. Like the first time you ever ate a pot brownie that hit you so hard that conversation becomes impossible. By the time someone finishes their sentence you’ve forgotten where it all began! Fuller house could be the worst show on television but Thou Mayest is one of the best coffee places in KC.

Music too loud. Awesome pop tarts… which this place is apparently known for. They do small batch roasting in house. I also had espresso, which was prepared with care and was excellent.

Good amount of seating, hipster vibe but everyone’s totally friendly, they take credit card, have small pastries(and let you bring over food from Grinders next door) and great coffee and cocktails! Also open late with free wifi! One of my new favorite places. Love it! Can’t believe I just discovered it.

2nd check in after ROYALSWORLDSERIESCELEBRATIONPRARADE! Shout out to all the staff who worked it, you guys did a killer job. I could tell you were tired but you kept on smiling and you poured us some great cups of joe. Entrance at first level to a long room with a full service bar and mixing up some ADULT coffee beverages which are creatively tasty. Upstairs has lots of comfy couches and an incredible back patio that over looks the city. 1st check in was their Halloween bash which needs help. Advertised coffee cocktails, nope. Cheap Pumpkin ale, yep. $ 5 cover charge, for what? A DJ spinning so loud like you were in a blender that couldn’t be escaped due to rain. At least the World series was on but couldn’t get a spot to really see it. High schoolers abounded some even braved the question, ‘Hey could you score us some drinks?’ Really guys??? Trust me, you’ll wanna skip this pumpkin ale. Second experience was soooo much better. Good parking available and in a part of downtown I really like.

I met my amazing realtor here one morning for breakfast before our condo search downtown. I think we both ordered lattes and I enjoyed a pumpkin pop tart. Holy delicious pastry, the pop tart was awesome. Certainly on the sweet side, but very tasty. Our lattes were great and the ambiance was nice. Definitely a hip place, but that being said, I didn’t feel out of place, being non hip.

At last, a coffee shop I can get really excited about. Because not only do they do coffee, they also do booze! Let me explain. I drink coffee black, period. Which is not to say that I don’t appreciate really high quality coffee, in fact you could say that it’s more important than ever when you’re not covering it up with cream, sugar, syrup, chai spice, whatever. But all the furor seems to be over that kind of coffee, which just rolls right off of me. The need for Wi-Fi in the Crossroads drew my friend and I here from Nara. I knew TM was different when I saw the sign outside for a World Series watch party. At a coffee shop? Gimme some of that! The décor is an appealing mix of exposed brick, rustic wood, and urban sleek. We found a little alcove with a sofa and coffee table that suited vacation-shopping just fine. Having happy-houred at Nara, we drank coffee; black pour over for me, a lovely latte for my friend. The guys behind the bar are super friendly and the coffee is first rate. Looking up at the bar as my coffee was making, I perused the deep roster of cocktail ingredients and saw rye whiskey, Herbsaint…“So you can make me a Sazerac next time I’m here?” I asked. «Of course I can!» he said. A lot of bartenders here don’t even know what I’m talking about, but this barista knew. They had me for life, right there. And that was before I really looked at the pastry rack down below… oh, my goodness! They buy this stuff from two local bakers, and everything is gorgeous. The blueberry corn muffin was just incredible. Hand-made pop tarts, cookies… yeah, I’ll be back, probably more often than I should. After all, a Sazerac awaits!

Super trendy coffee shop with cocktails, coffee, and sweets. The shop itself is gorgeous– think urban rustic. The hot toddy is where it’s at. Perfect winter combo of caffeine and alcohol. Would go again and again.

Very hipster hole in the wall coffee shop and bar. Parking on the street was easy to find. I ordered a paloma(traditionally made with grapefruit juice) and ended up with what tasted exactly like a margarita. So, either my drink was made incorrectly or their grapefruit juice has turned. Paid $ 9 for about 6oz drink– not worth it. My husband ordered a coffee drink and was pleased. I had first attempted to order a drink with orange fizz, but they were out of an ingredient to make it. We sat upstairs outside on the balcony since all the comfy couches and chairs inside were filled– lovely shaded area with about 6 tables overlooking the outdoor music venue below.

This review is specifically for the coffee part of Thou Mayest. I haven’t tried their cocktails… yet. My mad crush with Thou Mayest started after the stop on the Caffeine Crawl. The passion for their product was evident. I appreciated the time the owner took to explain the different items we tasted. The coffee is crazy good. The blend with Dark Horse Distillery was awesome. As it cooled the cherry cola flavor came out. It’s a very limited production. I hope one of these releases to grab a bag. I can see where people could be intimidated by Thou Mayest. You should leave your«I’m not hipster enough» worries at the door and come in a grab a great cup of coffee. My last visit I planned to order their Ethiopian as a pour over. But the barista pointed out they had the same coffee in ready now urns. Sold! There is a lot of inside space, upstairs and downstairs, and outside seating too. All in all, Thou Mayest coffee is usually on my mind. I wish I could get over there more often!

Thou Mayest is your bro that has your back. It’s your spot for a hair of the dog beer while trying to get your brain working for the day. You can get a thermal carafe to take with you to the office if you’re wanting to get yourself a raise. Then for the evening they have a damn decent line of cocktails. I poke around with the decorations while they get it together often times. With a sign out front that says«Soup of the day: Whiskey», you know you’re in the right place.

I went to Thou Mayest twice in one day: the first, for their Pop Tarts, and the second, for cocktails. Thou Mayest is a hipster haven, and although I am sure I received some judgmental looks, the staff was friendly during both visits. We ordered two Pop Tart pastries then snagged a spot in a cozy, secluded room upstairs. I may not be cool enough for Thou Mayest, but I can still appreciate the effortless furniture pieces, industrial light fixtures, and succulent-filled terrariums. If only it had been warmer, we would have stolen a spot on the patio. Later that night, we decided to go back for drinks and had a blast talking with the three bartenders. They made us some menu drinks, but then also made their favorites for us — very fun to get to try a variety! Considering TM is a coffee shop, I kind of failed in not having any coffee, but I plan to go back many times in the future.

If you love great coffee, you don’t need to read the rest of this review, just start heading this way. These guys are local to KC and have brought the idea of a super-hip, local coffee joint in the Crossroads area to life. What’s more, you can even grab a nice cocktail if that’s your thing, but probably not at 8 a.m. I’ve had their coffee on site and it always delivers. Personally, I like the pour-over but their house coffee is delicious as well. You can grab a bag to go and make it at home as well. The atmosphere is most definitely, certifiably hipster, but the folks running the bars are friendly and that shouldn’t scare anyone off. They also have hand pies, cookies and pop tarts from The Upper Crust bakery and they are fantastic.

This place is pretty darn chill. DTKC is where it’s at doe. Price: Not bad, A cup of coffee is about $ 2+ Parking: STREET. Service: The barista wasn’t too excited… Food & Drinks: I can only speak for their black coffee. I should’ve tried a pour over though. Notes: Ask for their wifi password. Overall: Apparently this place is hella«hipster.» I’m still quite iffy on the real meaning of hipster so I can’t say that it is.
