I don’t care if it’s closed, I’m writing a review based on the few times I ate there in the mid 80’s. The banana pancakes with coconut syrup were so good I wanted to cut my tongue out afterwards because nothing else I could ever eat in life could compare. Enjoy your retirement eggbert people. If it’s anything as bad as being in the furniture business try to stay off the crack

We were some of the last clients of the place, closing at the end of the year. I had for breakfast a large stack of banana pancakes. Verdict: huge portion of good pancakes(I should have taken the smaller size).

We ate breakfast here every morning on our vacation. Fantastic service, super friendly wait staff, yummy food. Pancakes are yummy, two types of syrup(regular and coconut)…super crunchy french toast. Eggs were great, so we’re omelettes. So sad this place is closing after decades… hoping it reopens some where near, soon!

Too bad this place is closing on the 31st of December, 2015. The Marketplace sold the land to ABC Store and they want them to move to the other end of the Marketplace and build a new restaurant. The owner said ‘Nah’.

Ended up here after a visit to a spa that’s located within a nearby resort space. It’s fairly open and diner-esque…felt like it was in need of an update, or a solid cleaning, but also seems to be one of those typical, laid back restaurants that visitors to Hawaii cling to when they want typical breakfast food. It’s not dirty, but it’s a cheaper-feeling restaurant in a little strip mall off the highway. My friend and I were seated pretty quickly at a table in the more«outer» portion of the restaurant(away from the counter space). There were signs everywhere about not feeding the pigeons that were wandering through the open restaurant space, and our waitress set the table up and took our drink orders quickly. She also came back fairly soon and took our brunch orders. I ended up ordering a cheddar and Portuguese sausage omelette with mushrooms, plus a side of hashbrowns. Everything was fine… hashbrowns could have been crispier, omelette tasted fine. Cash only restaurant. We didn’t notice signs about the place closing(though apparently there are some?), but our waitress and another one were having a very animated conversation about what SEEMED to be happening and the events surrounding things closing down(or so I’ve assumed from their conversation). The waitress that was talking to ours seemed very agitated, and it honestly made me a bit uncomfortable. I get it… you’re upset about the circumstances you’re likely in now, but don’t air all that out in front of customers. TL;DR Probably closing, so not sure this review matters. Typical fare, and service was pretty quick. Perhaps good for picky eaters who want meals that are familiar in flavor.

Excellent breakfast, friendly but slightly slow service. The omelette offerings are nothing short of amazing. Be aware that it’s a cash only establishment. Alas, a sign at the door said they will be closing on Dec 31, 2015.

Pretty standard Hawaiian diner food. Good for a quick, casual bite. I had an Egg Plate that came with 2 scrambled eggs, portuguese sausage, toast and jelly. The sausage was very good and everything else was meh. My mom ordered the same thing as me, plus rice and a side of pancakes. The pancakes were HUGE and she loved them. The ambiance is also diner-y as they have a little bar w/bar stools, TV’s, and silly décor. They keep the windows open so you get the nice, warm Hawaiian breeze blowing through while you nosh your food. Very nice waitresses. Cash-only. It’s the only restaurant in the Coconut Marketplace at the moment. Good option if you’re planning to do some shopping there or are staying at one of the nearby hotels.

The best mac nut pancakes that I have had. We were in there twice. The first time, my friend ordered them and I had to finish hers. I just couldn’t help myself. They were THAT good. of course, the second time, that’s what I ordered. :) Like everyone else says, bring cash because they don’t take plastic.

First things first, when I visited this restaurant was cash only. For a short stack of two very large pancakes, coffee, taxes, and tip, I paid $ 14. I ate here twice on my trip to Kauai and both times the pancakes(I had banana macadamia nut with coconut syrup) were amazing. Service was good; coffee refills were timely, which was nice. I noted that another reviewer complained about the coffee, but while it maybe wasn’t the best coffee I’ve ever had, it certainly wasn’t terrible. I highly recommend breakfast here if you’re in the Kapa’a area.

I have the pork and cabbage for breakfast here and it was amazing! My girlfriend’s breakfast was also delicious. It doesn’t look like much in the outside but I highly recommend checking this place out.

The food was OK, but the coffee was unpalatable. I ordered a full stack of pancakes and sausage, and my wife had the macadamia nut pancakes with coconut syrup. My pancakes were good, but the sausage was cold. My wife loved her pancakes. We also asked for two to-go boxes but only got one. If you just want a couple of decent pancakes, you might like it here. Definitely pass on the coffee.

We were«welcomed» by a very unfriendly hostess who wouldn’t even return a «good morning». Our food was worse than awful. Pigs in a blanket… Not sure where the pig went. It was hardly noticeable in the overly large undercooked pancake. Eggs Benedict was nothing to talk about. Service was not so great. Don’t waste your money. You’re better off finding another place or making your own breakfast. Total waste of money.

Eggbert’s Kauai’s Family Specialty Restaurant is located at the Coconut Market Place. Came here one morning for breakfast. Everything about this restaurant was A-OK. From the ambiance to the service to the food was ordinary. There was nothing that evoked good memories or bad memories from our experience here. Their pancakes with bananas and macadamia nuts were decent. Prices were reasonable considering we were in a touristy area. I probably would not return here as a tourist. If I was a local, then I may return here from time to time.

Every time I come to Kauai I eat here! Usually I just do breakfast — heavenly. I have recently discovered the fried rice is the best ever!!! I already had breakfast in the room so I had an early lunch of loco Moco and fried rice. Tomorrow I might try the pork & cabbage– looks awesome.

This place was conveniently located to our hotel, so made an easy stop for breakfast. It was busy but we were able to sit right away. Unfortunately the food was pretty lackluster. I ordered an omelet that simply had barely cooked veggies thrown into the middle. The cheese was just a slice of processed American cheese. The special for the morning was cookies and cream pancakes. There was no way I was going without ordering them, but I soon realized I should have just passed. It was as if they were run-of-the-mill pancakes with some Oreo cookie crumbs sprinkled on at that last minute. They had a lot of potential, though…

This place was recommended to us by many people and we came here for breakfast one morning since it was right next to our resort. Cash only establishment which caused a bit of a cluster for us since we didn’t bring cash — but a nearby ATM solved that problem. We were told we HAD to have the banana pancakes. Neither me, nor my daughter, eat wheat on a regular basis, but we made an exception. Yummy. I don’t do well with just carbs, so I also ordered some scrambled eggs. I’m not much of a breakfast person… so next time I’ll try the Loco Moco :-)

Of course we had to dine on some Moco Loco while in Hawaii!!! One of my closet friends lives on Kauai, and after a night of dancing and way too much drinking, she advised us it was Moco Loco time!!! So we put our shades on and rolled on over to Eggberts! Upon arrival we realized like many places on the island the restaurant was open with basically only a few walls. Birds were flying around eating leftovers on the tables lol! We were greeted and seated. Our group of five did not hesitate to take our servers offer of $ 2 mimosas or screwdrivers… I know I know! After ordering Five Moco Locos for the table, we started sipping on our breakfast drinks. Mocos arrived and there was silence… Moco Loco consisted of scoops of rice, topped with two beef patties, over easy eggs, and gravy! Yummy yummy in my tummy! Hubby got scrambled eggs with ham on his Moco Loco. This was what the dr ordered! The meal is very hardy so that means I was unable to finish but hubby of course had no problems with that!!! Great lil spot for hangover food, $ 2 drinks, lol bird watching and close to hotels! Cash only so minus a star for that. Cheers!
