This place has recently closed in Kapaa but I’m writing this in case they are able to open again elsewhere to warn both artists and customers off any future business of theirs(take the time to read the«hidden» review at the bottom). I personally know 2 artists that they owe tens of thousands of dollars to for artwork they sold at Ship Store and never bothered to pay the artists! Sadly, this happens a lot to artists and the galleries get away with it, but I’m surprised to read they’re not even bothering to send customers their purchased art.

The lectures are so interesting and rich in history. We attended one of the lectures and it was so interesting. I did not think it would be 2 hours long but we kept asking questions. If you like history attend a lecuture. Each picture with Hawaiians in it tells a long story. Get the hours before you go, they are not open every day. If you really want to contribute, John hosts a cleanup party in on Saturday mornings on Lydgate beach. They clean up trash, debri, and maintain the landscape. It’s only a few hours and he supplies the coffe, donuts tools.

While Tammie and John are very nice and knowledgeable, they need to learn to run a business. We purchased a painting while on vacation and were told that it would ship within 3 days at which time they would contact us with a tracking number and take about 10 days to arrive. After our numerous phone calls, messages left, stories about how the crater was sick, shipping company doesn’t pick-up ever day, etc. the truth comes out after more than 8 weeks, that they did not charge us the right price(charged us their cost on the consigned paining, and approximately less than their cost to crate and ship). As we are very reasonable people we let them out of the deal. You would think that they would be thankful and promptly refund our credit card, but now after several more calls and no return call and no refund to the credit card, I’m writing this after having to dispute the charge on my credit card.
