HAPPYBIRTHDAYTOME!(As Adam Richman would say!) Well, it isn’t really my burfday… but it sure felt like it today, cuz when you order the right item from a hole in da wall joint like No. #1 Chinese Bbq Restaurant! I was working in Kapaa today, and upon finishing up a job… it was time for lunch. My orginal plan was to go to Kojima’s Supermarket to see what I could find there to grindz. But when I got to Kojima’s…I found out that they are no longer there! The sign is still posted up in the private parking lot, but when I got to the door, all the glass doors were covered by paper.(Insert sad panda here). Well, no matter… because in the same parking lot, there are a few other business(a surf shop, a barber shop, filter water dispenser, and one more business I could not remember)…and of course, we cannot for get this place called — No. 1 Chinese Bbq Restaurant! Usually, I’m kinda leary about places like this… you know… a fake L&L Drive Inn kinda place. But I decided to give it a shot… sometimes you gotta be brave! Chance ‘em! Upon walking into the joint, I see they had a array of pre-made food… you know, like Panda’s, or the old Patti’s Chinese Kitchen. I remembered not having too much luck with the pre-made stuff, so I skipped out on that, and went a head with ordering a — Chicken Katsu &BBQ Chicken Combo for($ 8.00 smacka’s)! What can I say about my meal??? I was SHOCKED!!! Totally SHOCKED!!! When they made my plate, and the girl handed me my plate lunch… I literally almost dropped it, due to how HEAVY this plate was! The Chicken Katsu &BBQ Chicken Combo was MASSIVE!!!(See pic) What can I saw about the grub? ONO Cuz!!! WINNING!!! The Chicken Katsu serving, was a full serving, but that’s not all gang! They also threw on 4 pieces of barbecue chicken to go with my Chicken Katsu! Can you say Dealages??? And yes, my middle name is «Glutton!» Lol! So how can I describe my meal? Well, the Chicken Katsu was made perfectly! It was crunchy and light! And as you can see in my pic, the chicken was NOT Pressed! Unlike the other joint I went to recently —(One Plus One Restaurant — on Oahu). The Chicken Katsu meat was plump, and juicy! If I could only complain about something… is the Katsu sauce… they gotta learn how to make a better Katsu sauce like Grace’s Drive Inn! The Barbecue Chicken was also ono! Nice flavoring, and it was all so soft and flavorful! This plate came with two scoops of rice(I got brown) & a scoop of mac salad. I want to say this plate lunch was more than enough to feel two people, so I guess my stomach is a two people belly! Lol! I liked that this place did not charge you additional fees for brown rice, and to be honest with you folks… as much as I tried to polish off this plate… sadly, I failed! Although I wasn’t able to polish off the entire plate, I was successful in polishing off all the meat! I left most of the rice, & of course, for those who know me… I just get mac salad, just to throw away, cuz I just hate mayonnaise! Lol! This little restaurant was a pleasant surprise for me! Now don’t get me wrong folks… this is NOT5 star dining here! So don’t go looking for any fancy grindz, or service. What we have here is Chinese fast food, and they also do local type plate lunches. The food is plentiful, and cheap! If you’re looking for something quick, ono, & of good value… you may want to check this place out! P. S. — Oh, by the way… just an FYI… there are other No. 1 Chinese Bbq restaurants on Kauai, but I am not sure if it’s a franchise, or owned by the same owner. I did go to another No. 1 Chinese Bbq Restaurant by a 7-Eleven in Lihue(a long time ago), and I remembered it to be — «not so good»…so if you do decide to check this place… go to this particular restaurant in Kapaa!
