Harley’s Tropical Barbecue

The atmosphere might not be much, but don’t let that fool you: everything we got here was delicious! So good, we came back twice during our vacation. Their bbq ribs were the best of all, but I couldn’t get enough of their curly fries either. The bbq has just the right amount of sauce, and it’s thick enough that it stays coated on the ribs. The meat is extremely tender and melt-​in-​your-​mouth. The best bargain is the half and quarter pound of just ribs. Our family devoured it all. The service was friendly and quick! It’s also one of the places that stays open late in the Coconut Marketplace.

Apparently Harley’s is closed until construction is over in the shopping center. Bummer.

The mahi wrap was awesome! we came here because a local tour guide told us the ribs were amazing and he wasn’t kidding. They were fall off the bone great!

Ribs were good, the chicken skewers were a tad dry.

We ate here for lunch. The food was great and it was aboy 20 dollars for two people. It doesnt look like much from the outside but dont let that deter you. The chicken we had was cooked perfectly and the terriaki was amazing. Outside seating.

Its 8.36 pm and they closed early. If a restaurant says 9pm they should stay open until 9. They said there we’re no customers so they just closed. A business should stay open until the hours of operation.

You will pass this place by and not know what you’re missing. It is amazing.
Order: Korean short ribs. (It comes with a salad and choice of fries or rice).
Their onion rings are great too!!!

In the middle of Coconut marketplace, Harley’s is a great place to pick up an inexpensive BBQ style Hawaiian lunch plate. Nothing fancy here, just good local food at a reasonable price. I had the pork ribs which were juicy and tender. The sauce was just right — not overpowering.

Stayed at the Islander and wasn’t too convinced about the Coconut Marketplace by the looks of the exterior, but we thought to give it a try and I am sure glad we did!
Harley’s is a small stand and may be easy to miss, but if you pay attention to the signs, you should be good to go. Hopefully, the construction will be complete and you won’t have to tackle that maze.
As for the food, We just loved their Beef Teriyaki plate. Its was comparable to one of the better plates I had during our trip! Something about that sauce! I can’t lie– I went again before it was time to fly home! The better half had some sort of chicken sandwich, but I didn’t pay attention to that because I was lovin’ the teriyaki so much!

Oh yum! Harleys is a must. So convenient for us since its right up the road.
Good local style food. Comes with rice and salad. Also different selections of sauces for whatever you’re getting. They also have some choices for sandwiches.
I always get the grilled chicken breast with teriyaki sauce, with rice and salad. Comes with a slice of grilled pineapple for a hint of sweetness.
Only two items on the Keiki menu, but its always the favorites. Either corndog or chicken nuggets with fries.
The price isn’t at all bad at all. They do take out and its pretty fast. Call it in and pick it up in about 15 minutes. Super convenient.

Ate there a few times while staying in KAPAA’. The only complaint is the wait. You can tell the locals get a little stressed when it gets a little busy. I noticed they take care of the regulars a little quicker.
Had the Korean Ribs, Beef Skewer, Teriyaki Beef, and the Shrimp Skewer all were very good!

We stopped here for a quick lunch and at first was a little put off by the hut you order from. But all that was put aside once we got our food.
Chicken plate with rice and salad with papaya dressing — flavorful, somewhat thin, slice of grilled chicken with a delicious bbq sauce and a piece of grilled pineapple on top. The rice was a generous scoop of sticky white. The chopped romaine lettuce salad was ok but the papaya dressing made it amazing. Tangy, sweet with a fruity flavor.
Buffalo wings — we got the «hot». I would rate it as a mild but I think habanero sauce goes on everything :). The wings had a good crunch and great flavor.
Curly fries — good. Nothing special but who goes to a bbq joint for fries. :)
French sandwich with Au jus and horseradish sauce — packed with meat the bread was soft and the Au jus was perfect. Not too salty and a delicious accompaniment. The horseradish sauce was real grated horseradish root, none of that pansy creamy fake sauce.
Definitely recommend checking out Harley’s bbq if you are looking for a quick inexpensive meal. Think we will make this one of the lunch stops during our vacation in Kauai. For the price every dish was a hit.

Food is good but does not deserve more stars due it being a walk up window type place. In the south middle of this shopping area. Coke products but foutain not set right for taste. Pulled pork very good but would suggest asking for dry and putting your own sause on it. Also had korean pork ribs… ok but not outstanding. Fries good. Onion rings just so so. A few rickety outside tables to sit at.

I come to Kauai maybe 30 times a year on business, and I used to get lost in the hustle if work and always opt for the quick easy chain restaurants… I’ve vowed to make more of an effort to eat local. This place did not fail. I got the Teri Beef Kabobs. Very good, tender, and tasty! The papaya seed dressing was just the right tart/​tangy too. Simple, super affordable, delicious island BBQ.
Since I don’t live here though… What’s the deal with this shopping center? Is it being renovated?

FAN-​freaking-​TASTIC. Best BBQ I had on the island. Teriyaki plate, chicken skewer, beef ribs. Could eat this everyday and die happy.

Everytime I visit Kauai I always stop by at this hole in the wall joint. Good tasting food and reasonable price in Kappa, coconut market place. Their short ribs Kalbi is great and served with white rice and salad with papaya dressing. A real gem! I hope they stay in business when I come back to Kauai.

So much bang for your buck! The staff is super nice! I want to bottle them up and take them to the mainland.

Picked up dinner here last night after the little Free Hula show. This place is a hidden gem! Do t be deceived by the looks of the «shack». The food is phenomenal! The coconut market place was hit by hard times and you can tell its still stuggling, insult to injury is that the center area is under some sort of construction :(But this kinda works in your favor as the price of thw food has gone down ;)

Probably only one of a handful of shops still open in the Coconut Marketplace.
Do order the chili over fries…
Do not order the Thai rolls…
Do order the Harley’s special…
Do not have high expectations… this is budget friendly food…
Do save room for Lapperts Ice Cream after your meal…
Good for a cheap and easy meal. I can’t really say I’ll come back, but it was decent.

HARLEY’S!!! Ohhhh myyy! Seriously, everything on your menu is delicious. I usually get the combo plate cause I can never just decide on one option. Your sandwiches are off the hook. Love your ranch dressing on the salad and the garlic butter too! My favorites are your ribs and shrimp. Soooooo good! And so cute you named the place after your dog. If I could give you more stars I would!

Great! Es war etwas versteckt gelegen, aber nach dem Finden und Bestellen bekamen wir ein lecker BBQ Pork Sandwich. Empfehlenswert.
