Assaggio – Kapolei

Again we had awesome service! However with this trip the food was bland. My husband and I usually order the Assagios with chicken. But this go around I wanted something different. So I ordered the meatballs. Ewwwwwww is all I can say! It was so tasteless and DIDN’T taste like meat at all! Tasted like a Bocas pattie turned into a «meatball» no meat to be found. The texture was that of tofu, or the meat in jack n a box tacos. Tofu tasting and texture.
My husband’s assagios plate was watered down! I mean like someone spilled water in the pan. No taste whatsoever.
Very disappointed, this trip. I’m hoping it was just a bad night as I normally love assagios.

Upon arriving in HI my brother in law and sister asked me if I wanted to get something to eat and I said yes. This was the place that they took me too. For my first meal in Hawaii I was pleasantly surprised.
The service was excellent. Our waiter was friendly and very knowledgeable and he was very attentive. He smiled the entire time seemed to be happy to please.
I ordered the daily special. It was $ 32 but it was awesome. See the picture. I didn’t plan on eating all of it since I’d been eating all day. It was that good. They make a Caesar salad right there at the table using anchovies and other and it was great. I’ll definitely go back to this place again before leave.

Quality food at reasonable prices! Definitely my go to spot when I want pasta w steak or pasta w chicken. The food is always consistent and the service is always pleasant. If you haven’t been here you should bring your family and friends to try it out.

Disappointing experience. The Fettuccini Alfredo was to liquidly, not thick enough. The chicken tasteless. I was looking forward to the Caesar salad being made table side in front of me and even mentioned it to our waiter but he brought it already made it was ok, just not what I expected for a restaurant like this. I could’ve gotten a salad like that at Wendy’s. The Crème brûlée was still frozen inside yuck! The only thing I enjoyed was the calamari legs and the delicious sauce. Our waiter wasnt very helpful. He acted like we were bothering him. Nice looking décor though.

Thought the food would be better. Looked good but sauce was kinda bland. Service was ok, but not by the waiter. Seemed like all the food was brought and picked up by the other people than the actual waiter. Was expecting better experience than this as the Web site says this is like the ONLY Italian restaurant on the island. Olive garden is better than this place.

Made reservations for 4 at 6:45 got there 5 minutes early checked in was seated about 10 – 12 min later not bad I guess. we ordered 3 differnt Appetizers only thing didn’t like was the Calamari steaks had better by far. but of course that didn’t stop me from giving them a 4 star rating cuz every where you go you’ll always find one or two things that taste better else where. service was Awesome and that’s something I like you need GREAT customer service to make your visit awesome. will be back to try the rest on the menu

The three of us dropped in for a first visit and had a delicious lunch. She always has the lasagna as it is her indicator on whether to return or not. Terry had the fettuccine and two delicious meatballs (I had to have a taste), and I was attracted to the chicken, portabello and shrimp with roasted peppers on fettuccine. The portions were more than generous for a «light» lunch. Nice take out trays and courteous service made the whole event pleasant. We’re going back … soon!

Food was not stellar. We come here at least once a month and last night was the first time our food was lacking. The service was impeccable… Mahalo to our usual waiter. However… They recommended the Assagio style scallops and what came out was greasy and flavorless. The cold Antipasto salad had no dressing and was dry. Our artichoke appetizer tasted like marinated artichoke from the jar. The roasted peppers were gross. If it wasn’t for the fact every other time was wonderful we wouldn’t be back.

I haven’t even eaten yet, and I can tell you I’ll never come back to this location. After waiting for a table for 45 minutes, and watching them continue to seat people who are showing up ‘early’ for their reservations, Their service standard and operational practices are beyond sub-​standard. The hostesses couldn’t care less, and don’t even bother to see if you might care for a beverage while you wait. Never, ever again.

I came here again today for lunch and I really enjoyed my experience. The servers were very attentive and the food was on point. The last time I came here, I felt like my food was too salty. But today it was just right. Everything was cooked to perfection.

First time trying the kapolei location. Upon arrival the staff all seemed friendly and professional. Our server was very attentive and checked on us often. I ordered the shrine Caesar, small portion chicken saltimbocca and the crème brûlée. I must say, everything tastes amazing! I love how they make the salad table side. It was so filling it could have been a meal in itself. The small portion saltimbocca was definitely NOT small. It tasted delicious and I even had leftovers to take home. Now the crème brûlée…AMAZING! I’ve never had it in a chocolate bowl before. The custard was prepared perfectly. I could’ve ate 2 more just like it. Good job Assaggio Kapolei! I will be back

Last night we had a small baby shower for a friend. just 9 of us… and the server took our dinner orders accordingly to how we were seated… when our food arrived the food runner auctioned off our entrees… you’d think for an establishment that’s been in business for many years would know not to provide this type of service… i’m positive that they could ring in our orders by seat number…

Nothing to see here folks… Move along. I was expecting more and this place came up short. Ambiance felt crowded; there was nothing romantic about the place at all. Someone else wrote that, «This is not your slipper wearing beach attire sit in dining!» Unfortunately that is exactly what I saw coming through the door, in droves.
The best dish was the Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo and it’s pretty tough to mess that up. The clams were a mixture of old clams with fresh ones (#gross). Also, they should have cleaned them better because I tasted a little too much «dirt/​sand.» My veal dish was nothing to write about. To be honest people; save your money, this placed is overpriced for the return. The kid who served me water was more of my waiter than my waitress. If you are trying to impress your main squeeze go somewhere else. If you are trying to impress a hood rat; this location might help get you laid.

Phenomenal service!!! Impeccable food! It’s just so awesome here! I truly don’t see how it can have less than 5 stars. We just came again and it’s our down right favorite date night restaurant.

The bad — prices are a little high.
4.50 for a milk
20 bucks for a Caesar salad you must order two.
The really bad– the water glasses smell of chlorine terribly.
The good the service is fantastic. They couldn’t refill that chlorine tainted water fast enough.
The food was good too. Shrimp scampi and chicken Alfredo we had no complaints
Place was nice inside but people were wearing shorts and t shirts for dinner.

Usually I love Assagiosbut this location was disappointing.
Our party consisted of 10 people. My Dads steak in his salad was tasteless and tough. He only ate ¼ of his steak and all of the salad. Waiter was informed and all he said was «I’ll let the chef know». No compensation. Oh wait a free mango sorbet! Wow so generous. How about making him another steak or comping his meal. Not to mention a few of our dishes didn’t have taste either.
Needless to say we won’t be dining there again.

I love this restaurant, the service is wonderful, the food exceptional. I wish it wasn’t so warm in the restaurant, but everything else on point. Thank you for the best bread ever, pleasant wait staff with positive attitudes and tasty food which never disappoints.

There’s only one dish I order at any Assaggio’s location and that’s their Olio Garlic Chicken. It’s served on linguine, but I sometimes ask if I can have angel hair pasta instead. Crispy pan seared chicken finished in the oven topped with chopped garlic and the right amount of anchovy is so crazy good. My husband tried to replicate this recipe, but bless his heart, he didn’t make it as good as Assaggio’s. Usually I try to make reservations, but on my last visit on a Friday night at around 7 PM I did a walk-​in and we luckily got a table within five minutes by the window. The complimentary bread is soft and warm, but I’ve learned not to waste calories on that and just wait patiently for my dish. When I go with my husband, I sometimes eat some of his Caesar salad which is always fresh and has that tangy Caesar dressing. The last time we went, my husband wanted to share this appetizer with anchovy on slices of prosciutto. It’s okay, but the saltiness from the anchovy can be too much. The service is pretty on it with refilling waters and offering more bread or fetching any condiments we need. It’s a great place for date night, especially when I’m craving their delicious Olio Garlic Chicken pasta. One gripe though is the small parking lot that is being shared with Phở One next door, so if you can’t find any stalls in the tight parking lot, you’re going to have to park on the street.

I’m the type of person who has to write out a menu and shopping list along with our weekly schedule… otherwise my kids and I would end up wearing pajamas and getting McDonald’s drive thru all day, every day.
Well, on the menu for yesterday was Homemade Spaghetti! One problem though, when I went to get some ground beef out of the freezer to defrost it… there was none! How did that happen? Idk.
Well, I had to run to Target to get a few school items, so I figured I would stop at the market and get ground beef as well! Guess what? Target has groceries (I never noticed) so I bought some ground beef there.
Fast forward a few hours, it’s 4pm and I’m about to make dinner. I open the package of ground beef… and it smelled like, ummm, fart. I know, Gross! Sorry. You know when you’re driving down Geiger from Ewa to Kapolei and you pass the water sewage treatment plant? Well, the ground beef smelled like that.
Just then, my husband comes home from work and I said, «I got rotten meat at Target and no back up plan… so we are going out to dinner!»
Thats how we ended up at Assagio. We’ve been here several times before (only the Kapolei location, I’ve heard the other locations are better). But I like this location. It’s not the best Italian food I’ve ever had, but it’s consistent. It’s consistently good. Not the best, but pretty darn good. (Although it seems a little pricey for what you get).
Other things I like about this place is that it is very clean and the atmosphere is very elegant and relaxing, not too uppity, but not all rowdy either. The staff is always super nice and fairly knowledgable. They always make extra effort to make sure the foods are safe for my son with food allergies.
I learned two lessons today:
1. Never buy meat at Target.
2. Assagio’s is always a good back-​up plan!

The Kapolei location is one of my favorite Italian restaurants here in Hawaii. We come here for lunch periodically and have never had a bad meal. The service is exceptional and the place has a nice ambience.
The food is light, fresh and truly Italian. It is what one would expect in the Northern Italian cuisine.
A recommend.

I recently revisited Assaggio after many years away and was, as usual, impressed. The service is always on par and the food very tasty. On this particular visit, my boyfriend and I had been vacationing on the island from the mainland. We are both from Hawaii, but now live in Colorado. His family treated us to dinner as it was his birthday that day. I enjoyed the Cold Antipasto Salad and he, the Fish Piccata. I have always been a fan of the artwork displayed throughout the restaurant. It’s worth a visit just to view these works. I look forward to my next visit to Hawaii and returning here for another delicious meal.

I have been here about 3+ times and I can’t believe I have not wrote a review yet. The ambiance of this place is very intimate. This is not your slipper wearing beach attire sit in dining! Great to come for dates!
Please order the Osso Bucco Alla Romana with pasta. My mom recommended this to me when we went to the Ala Moana location and this is what I always order!!!

The food was «meh» in my opinion. My parents love anything so they aren’t hard to please at all lol. I hade the scampi with scallops. It was okay but needed A LOT of salt and pepper. As if it was not seasoned at all. Even the potato, mushroom, and onion app needed salt. The calamari was kinda tough. But after putting salt everything pretty much tasted good.
The service was okay. Our waiter was nice and checked up on us a good amount of times even though it got kinda busy. But some of the other waiters and bus boys looked miserable lol. There was one guy with gauges that looked like he just wanted to kill someone lol. And I noticed a lot of them are really fidgety lolol. On our table alone we had about 4 different people serving us at different times. One dropped the lemon from one of the dishes on top the table. Another dropped ice from the water pitcher. Another dropped a pen by our table. And one tipped over our bread basket lolol. But they were all pretty cool.
And the bathroom… I don’t usually talk about bathrooms in my reviews lol. But you would think for charging what they charge for heir good the bathroom would be pretty decent. There were seriously like 7 rolls of toilet paper everywhere in the big stall lol. And the toilets looked like they could use some cleaning. And the trash can was like breaking. It just looked like a mess in there lol
It’s kinda pricey there. But I would possibly go back. But it wasn’t «to die for»

I had to minus a lot of stars due to the lack of effort and upkeep involved in keeping this restaurant’s appeal.
Food was meh. We shared the «special» which is actually a standing daily special, Steak/​Shrimp over Linguine and a Caesar Salad with Chicken. It took awhile for us to get our food despite the fact that we were second table in the entire restaurant.
Again, the fact that we were the second table in the restaurant the staff wasn’t very attentive at all. We had to flag people down for water and extra condiments a few times.
As for the failing décor, the chairs were falling apart and stained. The bathroom was just yuck. You can really see the place deteriorating.
I prefer the food at the Mililani location much more where the cleanliness is a lot better than this location. The ambiance is also entirely different from the Kapolei location. Also, we really enjoy the staff over at Mililani.
