Hold your horses everyone. Just ate here today and everything is going to quickly change. Been here many times and had good meals. Today was not good. Bad cooking, they’ve run out of certain foods. New owners coming in on Dec. 1st and old owners are sliding. I wouldn’t eat here until new place is reviewed a lot. Too bad for the locals. Aloha

First time back after over a year for dinner for three on Saturday evening at 7:30pm. This place has changed… from a past 7−8÷10 to 4−5÷10. Service was slow, over ten minutes before order taken. Water came fast. Server was friendly but covering too many tables. The food quality for the cost was substandard and plate lunch average flavor. I had the Korean fried chicken and it had little flavor and too many crust pieces without meat. The garlic shrimp was hot and required hand peeling. Additional napkins and hand wipe was needed. Overall, food quality has declined but the prices have not.

Breakfast at 10:00 am today I ordered: corn beef hash, eggs, potatoes. Wife ordered: Eggs Benedict with spinach and potatoes. I used the bathroom: Toilet over flowing onto the floor with feces. No paper goods, no soap(we should have left at this point) Back at the table: 15 minutes later my waitress brings my plate. 5 minutes later my wife’s plate arrives. My food is very cold, there was also way to much garlic on the potatoes. My wife told me that her order was taken to another table by another waitress. Which the other waitress was telling the cook to just place raw spinach on the Benedict. I took no photos cause it was not worth it. Our waitress was really nice(which I did leave a tip) We will never go back there again(drove from Aiea cause the food used to be good a year ago) Sad No for them but I am forced to give 1 to post

We eat here occasionally. Today’s experience was par for this location for breakfast. Everything was delicious such as the steak and eggs, corned beef hash with fried rice. The toast on the other hand was hard enough to tap nails into a wall. Of course, we don’t come to Hapa Grill for the toast!

Came here for breakfast once and enjoyed their breakfast menu. Figured it would be the same at night. They don’t really have a big selection. They need to update their menu. Their waitress was nice and took our order quick. Wasn’t too busy for a Friday night… I’ve seen more people here before? Order the beef stew which was huge, but a little portion of meat! Also ordered their Teri Burger which was okay, something you could make at home… Overall I hope they get more on their menu so more people could come back often. Also, have better presentation on their food so it matches the prices.

First time trying this place today. Walked in for breakfast and was immediately greeted by the hostess/waitress. It was empty so I was seated immediately. As I was walked to my table, she asked if I wanted coffee and water. Both were served quickly after being seated. She was very friendly and helpful. Service was great! I ordered the fried rice omelette that came with Kim chee and pork adobo. I also ordered a side of bacon. The omelette and kim chee was good. Not outstanding, but good. As for the pork adobo, a little too much vinegar for my taste. And if a Filipino like me is saying there’s a little too much vinegar, you know there’s too much vinegar. The bacon was way over cooked. Borderline burnt. I will be giving this place another try. Maybe for lunch or dinner, but I’m not in a rush to go back.

Came in on a Saturday night around 8 pm. My husband was really craving a steak. Saw they had it on the menu. I ordered the north shore shrimp. The shrimp came in a bowl with onions and tomatoes and very oily. My husband ordered a steak — rare. It came out halfway through my meal and it was well done. When we complained — waiter said it was their last steak. Will never come back. It wasn’t the waiters fault– but no one from the kitchen management came to apologize. Won’t come back here again.

Came in on a good day, not a big crowd so the wait was so quick. The staff is friendly, the prices are definitely reasonable for the taste! So delicious. The only thing I think that had me reduce 1 star is the furniture. Definitely needs an upgrade as far as the layout goes. Maybe adding more varieties for breakfast beverages would be nice too. :)

Sunday evening at 6pm and there’s only two cars in the parking lot. It’s now 6:40 and there’s just two us and another couple — a case of more employees than diners. Hamburger Steak is good as was the garlic mashed potatoes. The teri beef was flavorful, but the fried noodles is where they lose the stars, unless you like teri flavored fried noodles. Noodles were sweet, as if they fried it on the same grill as the teri beef without cleaning the grill first. Paid $ 13.95 for hamburger steak. It was good, but I’ve never paid that for hamburger steak. We’ll stick to En Fuego next door.

I gave 4 stars despite the bad reviews. I ate here 4 times & always had good service with descent prices. Food was tasty and portions were large. I would eat here again.

Was in Kapolei for the day and needed lunch somewhere. Hapa grill sounded appealing. Went in and asked for the menu. Basically local food. I ordered the Korean chicken and my grandma ordered the kalua pig with cabbage. Korean chicken was good just seemed to be either soaked a little too long or maybe a little too much shoyu in the sauce. Seemed a bit strong for my taste. Kalua pig was also good but barely any cabbage. Good service. I’d definitely go back to try the fried ice cream, it looks so good on every one else’s reviews haha. Good to check out for some local food and see how your taste buds enjoy it :)

I just got through eating breakfast here at Hapa Grill. I’m not really a fan of this place but came here because I had a gift certificate that was about to expire. We walked in, it was empty. We got seated by a waitress. She was very nice and helpful. –We got our waters. Mine had food stuck on the inside wall of the cup. Waitress replaced it. –I ordered garlic fries that were $ 6.95 and was very disappointed. Fries had little to NO garlic. And we’re EXTREMELY soggy. See photo. –My grandma got a papaya which was rotten/mushy. She asked for a new one and waitress was quick to bring one that met our standards. –I ordered corn beef hash and asked for it to be CRISPY/well done. Waitress brought it out and it was not crispy at all. I even sent a pic to my husband and he said it looked depressing. See photo. At the end of the meal I tried to use the gift certificate I had and they told me ITWASNTVALID due to the fact that they switched owners in December. I held my tongue throughout my entire meal, but I was just upset hearing that and had to speak up. I told our waitress that was the stupidest thing ever. Someone paid for our gift certificate. Money is money! Don’t see why they wouldn’t take it. Although I was never a fan of Hapa Grill, I have never had an experience this bad. Seeing that they switched owners explains a lot. I feel bad writing this. Our server was very pleasant but I will never go back to Hapa Grill ever again.

I’ve been back time and time again for birthdays and team lunches, but this restaurant just doesn’t do it for me. Let me start off by letting everyone know that I’m not inclined toward local food, so hapa grill it’s not the type of restaurant I’d normally pick for my lunch break. The food itself is quite heavy for me, and browsing through the menu it seemed impossible to avoid mushrooms. After deciding on a burger($ 13+!!) I sat back and relaxed… And relaxed… And relaxed… And… Like forever later received my burger, which was massive. It wasn’t particularly interesting our delicious, but I recall the bacon bring cooked perfectly, which is a big plus in my book. But for more than $ 13, it just was not worth it. Additionally, during my visit 3 of the 4 of us sitting down received our food, and we waited 20 minutes for the last order. Overall I did not enjoy… Any our the dining experienced I’ve had here, and I feel like you can get very close to the same quality of food offered here for half the price elsewhere. I hope to use my some persuasion techniques on my colleagues to avoid this place in the future. Cheers

I’m not sure what happened, but it has gone downhill this past month. We have been customers for about 5 years now & haven’t been as disappointed as we were the other week. They have a whole new SMALLER menu. They took away ¾ of my favorite items. I was so bummed. It’s also a hit or miss with service; you never know what you’re gonna get. Sadly, we will not be returning.

We ordered the loco moco(burnt patty) and the cornbeef hash(greasy with dried pork on my plate and burnt patches of the patty from the loco moco) both was terrible! !and all the waitress said was we have a new cook! bull shit! A cook is a cook weither their new or old no Real Cook would send out burnt or uneatable food ! Not once did she try to fix it. I would like the owners not the new management to message me back. Thank you

I have been coming to Hapa Grill for years. Not sure if they still have the same owners or managers, but the service and food has gone south since the last time I visited. There was only one server, so the wait was long. She was nice and did what she could being by herself.(Mind you it’s Saturday morning) I ordered the eggs Benedict.(The reason why my daughter and I are repeat customers). And I always told my friends that Hapa Grill has THEBEST eggs Benedict. Sadly, it is not anymore. :(The first time it came out the server already knew it was wrong. The eggs were undercooked and runny. The whites weren’t even cooked. The second time it came out it was cooked but the English muffin was cold and not grilled or toasted. UNSAT. Other items we ordered: «Not so fluffy» banana pancakes Seafood omelet that was okay Three egg omelet that was okay Overall, not satisfied. Actually, very disappointed. I must now find a restaurant that serves a good eggs Benedict. Not sure if I will visit again.

We came here during graduation weekend and with a party of 30 or so. We were pretty much the only ones in the restaurant on a Saturday night from 6 – 9 so the servers were really attentive and everyone was happy with their food. Highly recommend taking out of town guests here if you want an affordable, low-key atmosphere meal.

I was craving soup and a sandwich. My friend suggested we try this place out. After reading their other reviews I don’t wanna put them on blast, so… Long story short… My soup and sandwich were both cold. The customer service was good though!

I really hate leaving such low reviews, but this really calls for it. My fiancé actually used to work at Hapa Grill when we first started dating and they were so awesome back then — food was great, staff was great. But now, they’re under new management and things has drastically changed. A few of the items on the menu were taken off, which they actually sharpie’d out on the menu and it looked really unprofessional. The guy who was our waiter rarely checked up on us, and seemed to have been talk to each other more than even paying attention to all the customers that were in that night. We both were looking forward to eating here, especially for their potato mac salad. We had that as our side and it didn’t even have any potatoes in it, it looked like just regular mac salad! My mochiko chicken was really bland, had little to no taste & my rice was really mushy which I hate about eating out. I would have to say that the only thing that was decent from our dinner was the dessert — their deep fried ice cream was the only thing that was just like how it was before. Other than that, I don’t even think that we’ll be back cause we were so disappointed with the way Hapa Grill turned out to be over the years.

Well, I’ve been coming here since they first opened and used to love the awesome Teri beef and Fried saimin. I moved out of the area about 8yrs ago so stopped eating here altogether but I moved back about 6 months ago and have been eating here occasionally for breakfast and lunch. The food seems to have lost some of the quality from what I remember years ago. The menu is bigger but the overall taste is just OK. Recent things I’ve tried… Various combinations of omelettes The Spicy Korean and the Mochiko chicken Cheeseburger Breakfast skillet and the Teri beef(still the best thing) The service on the other hand has always been great. Friendly and attentive staff which is the main reason I’d come back. — Something funny that happened that has no reflection on the quality of the food or restaurant… One morning, we were having breakfast and in one of the booths that’s on the right side of the restaurant, away from the main seating area, was a mom and her young(5 – 6 y.o.) son. She was done eating and was fully engaged in a phone conversation and paying no attention to what the son was doing. As we watched, the son, who reminded me of a kid with ADD, picked up the salt shaker, turned it upside down to get some salt to the top, then proceeded to lick the cover like it was an ice cream cone… LOL. The turning over and licking went on for a good minute before he put back in its place like nothing happened… mom never even noticed! We mentioned to the server what happened and they should change the salt shaker after mom and boy leaves. She gasped and said they would change it out as soon as they left.

From previous reviews, looks like this place isn’t so good for dinner but I came here for breakfast and was pleasantly surprised of how good their eggs benedicts were. I ordered the pulled pork benedict(had to get pulled pork because I was only in hawaii!) and my cousin got the crab benedict. The crab benedict was not like a crab cake, which is how it is normally served in other restaurants and they do not skimp on the crab. I am talking about whole chunks of crab on top of a toasted english muffin. The pulled pork benedict was served on top of what looked like it could be a poi english muffin because it was purple(poi is a very popular starch used in Hawaii). The muffin was very dense and heavy. The pulled pork was both sweet and savory and pulled apart easily when cutting through it. The eggs were cooked perfectly because overcooked eggs in an egg benedict is a crime! You can either choose a side of fried rice or hash browns and I ordered the fried rice that was pretty good also. Prices were pretty average. I wanted to try the deep fried ice cream but decided not to because I didn’t want to be a fatty at 8 o clock in the morning, but now I wish I had. I’ll be back for that deep fried ice cream!
