Moist brisket is unexpectedly good. The potato salad is a yummer… The pulled pork I didn’t really dig much. Will come back to try other entries on the menu :)

Brisket tacos… they had me at brisket tacos. I really don’t think I can sum up in one review how much I love Rudy’s. I only wish the tacos weren’t just a breakfast offering because I could eat brisket tacos all day! I typically judge a BBQ joint’s credibility from their brisket. My dad made brisket, slow smoked for 24+ hours, and I compare every brisket I eat to his. Rudy’s does not disappoint in this respect. Perfect smoke ring and flavor and you can get it lean or moist(fatty) to have it just like you prefer. The breakfast tacos here, as I mentioned, are served until about 10:30AM, and they are easily one of my favorite things to have first thing in the morning. Make sure to get the green sauce! The four stars are for just the brisket and the tacos… now on to everything else. I’m not a fan of their sides or other options. The jalapeño sausage has a really good flavor, but is WAY too tough to eat. I prefer much softer sausages, but that is just a preference thing. The chopped sandwich is tasty, but not very meaty and just isn’t enough for an adult to eat. I haven’t yet tried the chicken or the ribs, but I can’t seem to get away from the brisket. If there were better sides here(good potato salad, maybe mac & cheese) then I would definitely add a star. I haven’t tried any desserts either, btw. All in all I say this place has some of the best barbecue you’ll find anywhere in Houston, and their prices are awesome. Buy a bottle of the Rudy’s BBQ sauce too… it’s delicious and not overly sweet. You can also get gas while you’re there because it’s also a gas station.

I enjoyed eating here. If its your 1st time left them know and they will let you sample the meats. The turkey is so moist is the brisket. The jalapeño sausage is also great as well.

What I love ordering and sharing with my love(good for two): 0.5 lb of moist brisket ½ sausage ½ chicken pint of creamed corn pint of potato salad ANDDDD peach cobbler is you still have room for desert(Not overwhelmingly sweet, perfect level of sweetness achieved) Easy & great for groups. The moist brisket is simple and super moist. It’s not as smokey as some of other Texas’ premier bbq spots(Franklin, Killen’s, Salt Lick). The side dishes are strong, offer variety, and for zero wait, Rudy’s remains close to my heart.

The BBQ is okay. The green bean salad is awful. The service from HS kids is less than satisfactory. I do appreciate the pickles and onions and jalapeños being self serve and the sauces on the table.

Restaurant is always clean, staff is always helpful, and food is always great! Plus they have some of the lowest gas prices in town

Rudy’s is a go to place that we know we will be happy with. It’s not the best, but it’s always good. We get breakfast tacos there almost every weekend as well. You order by the pound and meat is wrapped in butcher paper; sides are separate. Would be nice if they eventually offered plates though.

Delicious! I’ve had the pulled pork, turkey and brisket. The side dishes aren’t that great but the meats make it worthwhile.

Hands down best Bbq in the Houston area… The Love Interest at the time took me here, and I’m not sure if I fell even more in love with him… or the Brisket(just sayin’) Being from Cali, I have no idea what real bbq tastes like but this sure was a hit given the other spots I’ve tried in different areas. –Super smokey –Fatty but good fat –loved the options of sauces I need to return asap!!!

The ribs were just ok. And for the price we paid, I only got 3 small ribs. I was annoyed and still hungry when we left. Overall it was just ok.

Tender moist brisket, succulent ribs and savory sausages – three reasons to come here! I’ve been to Texas a couple of times before, but this is only the second time that we’ve actually eaten out for BBQ in the Houston area. When my nieces were younger, my sister in law would just get take out BBQ when we were visiting. I’m glad we were able to make the 10 minute drive to Rudy’s and eat in. When you first get in line, you’ll see this long trough filled with ice and beer and soda bottles. I grabbed a blonde ale from Real Ale Brewing Co. from this giant ice box. We ordered a pound of Brisket Moist(which just means it has some fat with the meat), a half order of sausage, a corn on the cob and a small Rudy’s Beans from the cashier. We had also grabbed some Potato Salad and Banana Pudding from the cold case! All that for $ 37! Such a bargain! The brisket was so tender, you can cut it with a plastic fork. Smear some BBQ sauce on it and you are good to go. I can see why Texans love it. The hubby loved the sausage a lot. It was smoky and not too salty. My nieces loved the pork ribs. They had 3 ribs each which would have been enough for me too. They were quite big, though a bit fatty. My husband and I just stuck with the brisket as we have not had brisket in years. It’s hard to get good BBQ in the Bay Area! I though that the sides were just mediocre, hence the four stars. The hubby didn’t care for the Potato Salad which is one of his favorite dishes. Rudy’s was a little too sweet for both our liking. The corn was tasteless. It had been grilled with butter, but it was totally lacking in flavor. You’ll need to season it yourself to give it some flavor. Skip it. Rudy’s beans were good. Next time, we’ll skip all sides except for the beans. The banana pudding was good, not too sweet. It had a lot of custard and whipped cream. It didn’t have a lot of banana flavor though. More like a vanilla pudding really. We ate it when we got home as our brisket meal filled us up. Hopefully it won’t take us years to have brisket again. Next time we’re in Houston, we’re definitely going back to Rudy’s for more of their brisket!

Unbelievably delicious brisket from such an unassuming place(there’s a gas station out front!) i’m in town visiting from New Jersey and Unilocalers helped me find this gem! When you walk in there are a ton of picnic style tables in a very casual atmosphere. You order your food at the counter either to stay or to go. Rudy’s kind of functions like a deli or butcher shop. Everything is hot and fresh and already prepared. There’s no wait time. Just place your order, they pack it up, and off you go. They also have a huge bar of extra garnishes for the food including pickles, onions, and a variety of hot peppers and sauces. The guys behind the counter are great! They explain everything to you. For example the prices on the menu for the BBQ meat offerings are for a half a pound. They explain that you are free to order as much as you’d like and if you tell them how many people you have they can suggest how much to buy. They also give free samples of everything! I ordered the brisket and I have to tell you I’m extremely picky about my brisket. It was perfect! Moist with a great smoke ring and the flavor was out of this world! I highly recommend it!!!

I was not expecting much but was asked to meet friends here. I was very surprised and now choose this place for my BBQ. I used to eat at Pappas BBQ only. W tried the brisket, sausage, turkey, ribs and bagged potatoes. Everything was great.

Rudys has always been one of our favorite BBQ places in Houston, also popular among both locals and visitors, as evidenced by long lines. Our favorites are moist brisket, jalapeño sausage, chicken. The quality of food is good a usual. The only downside is cost seems to go up every quarter. For a family of 4, it’s costing over $ 50 and that’s with two small kids. Last year, the same order is $ 35, so prices seem to have increased 30%. A good local alternative is Midway BBQ in old Katy. Great food and much better value.

My favorite barbecue in Houston so far and some of the best barbecue in Texas. Although Rudy’s a chain and a combination gas station and barbecue joint, the brisket is exceptional as slow smoked, moist and tender on the inside, and pepper-coated and crusty on the outside. You can choose from 3 cuts of brisket — moist, cutter’s choice and lean. The moist is my hubby’s favorite and marbled with tons of flavorful fat, while I always get the lean cut which only has a small amount of fat on the outside. If you don’t mind brisket that’s falling apart with melty, glistening fat, choose the moist and if that’s not your thing go for the cutter’s choice. The lean cut is the healthiest and a little dry the next day when you reheat it. If you’re not in the mood for brisket, try jalapeño sausage, pulled pork, smoked turkey, or half a chicken. To make your meal even better get a side of creamed corn, coleslaw, or beans. I always get their beans — they are so delicious and cooked with chopped brisket instead of bacon. I’ve tried brisket at so many places as I’ve lived in Austin for 4 years. The only place that has come close to Rudy’s brisked for me is Salt Lick in Austin and Killen’s in Pearland. I haven’t tried Franklin’s in Austin, but that is definitely on my bucket list. To make your meal perfect end with their perfectly sweet and creamy banana pudding to extinguish the heat of their pepper barbecue sauce. Get the kid’s an oreo pudding and get ready for a euphoric food coma.

Yes! Go now! Brisket is moist and very flavorful. You can also fuel up on gas while you’re there! Win win!

Everything we had was great! Hubby got a ½ chicken, I got a brisket sandwich, kids got pulled pork and a sausage. Creamed corn(which I normally don’t like) was excellent. My only complaint was the cole slaw. A bit on the plain side and I like mine creamy, but that might be a regional thing. Fun place to go for yummy BBQ!

There is no nicer way for me to say this… Rudy’s BBQ sucks! Ok I lied, I could have said it much nicer. I just don’t like it. Matter of fact, I don’t even understand all these good reviews, are you people from Texas??? Never a problem with parking, the lunch line has been long both times I’ve ventured here but they have enough registers open so it’s bearable. Cold side dishes available before you go to order. I’ve tried the ribs(was pretty dry), brisket(moist ok), chopped beef sammich(came lean and not really all that good)…couple sides served in a pretty cool crate that I hope they actually wash. Drinks, onions, pickles and napkins galore off to the side. I love that you don’t have to go inside the restroom to wash your hands, they have a large 2 or 3 person sink right outside it. Their bbq sauces come in big, tall containers that don’t dispense the sauce easily. I don’t touch containers bare hand so jugging that joint is hard without some elbow grease. Go and try for yourself… wasn’t a horrible experience, just not for Peezy! Now, if I could get my team at work on board…

I’ve been to this Rudy’s a few times and I’m definitely a fan. The first time I came to this location, the cashier who took my order was very friendly and helpful. I got to sample the brisket and turkey. They pretty much hooked me from there. Both are juicy and full of flavor… and not too salty. Don’t get me wrong, there is better brisket and turkey out there. But Rudy’s does both well. I like that you can get as much(or as little BBQ) as you want. They price everything by the pound. I like their signature sause… and their sissy sause is good too. But the signature sause has a little extra kick and it’s not too sweet. The sides are meh. I usually go to BBQ places for the meat, but the places that truly stand out have excellent sides as well. The only side I really like is their green chile stew. Everything else I could take or leave, and they don’t offer a salad as a side. I’m very happy this is a Coca-cola establishment. I’m also happy they have a variety of beverages in their icebox for selection while waiting in line. There’s plenty of adult beverages as well. I do want to come back and try the Prime Rib and the breakfast tacos. Nonetheless, whenever I’m in Katy and I’m hungry, Rudy’s is on my short list.
