My first experience with Uncle Julio’s was in Dallas. It was utterly delicious and just perfection. I raved about the place and when some friends from Japan were visiting, I brought them to Austin’s Uncle Julio’s for a taste of Tex Mex since this Katy branch hadn’t opened. Imagine my excitement when I spotted Uncle Julio’s while driving by on the freeway.(This is also a testament to having good visibility and location.) I came here last week and the experience was everything I could want it to be. The atmosphere was on point — dim lighting, cheery music in the background, and artsy ballerina paintings throughout. The restaurant was bustling, and I really appreciated that the staff informed us that the tableside guacamole might take longer than usual but that the tamales would come out quickly. Excellent job in managing expectations! I really appreciate that. Actually the tableside guacamole cart came by not too long later, perhaps 5 – 10 min later. I love that the chef of the guac will ask if you want jalapeños. The tableside guacamole here is the best guac I’ve had! I’ve made guac before, but watching it being made is pretty cool! They’re absolutely divine with the chips, which are crispy deliciousness. I love that the chips come out hot! The guac came out in a stone bowl with a dog face on it, which is quite adorable. We got chicken and steak fajitas. All came out piping fresh and scrumptious. I highly recommend this place! The end to end experience was well delivered. Parking is plentiful. Food is delicious and served quickly. Service is attentive and swift. Atmosphere is classy. What more can you ask for?
