Keizer Miracle of Christmas

AMAZING NEIGHBORHOOD! For Portlanders, think Peacock Lane… only 5 miles long! They actually manage to make Peacock Lane look like a bunch of Scrooges… and it’s one giant ruse to collect food for the Salem Keizer Food Bank… GREAT EVENING… well worth the drive from Portland!

Amazing and appropriate displays. And for such a great cause. Be sure to start at the beginning.

The Miracle on 14^th Street (how I grew up knowing this Keizer light display) is no more. What remains is a nice tour of some lights, but nothing truly spectacular. And, when you factor in that it’s going to take you at least 90 minutes to feel somewhat. meh about a light tour, I suggest finding another option – especially if you’re not in or from Sal/​Keiz.
See, back in the day what made this place a truly magical visit was twofold: on the one hand, you had amazing participation rates; on the other, you had themes that drew cul-​de-​sacs and lanes together. I would say participation last night (12÷21÷13) was about 50% of houses, and that’s being generous. Also, all of the street themes are gone. When I was a kid, there was Christmas-​Card Lane, and the 12 Days of Christmas cul-​de-​sac, and Stocking Street, and Peanuts Place, and … the list goes on. Now, it’s up to each participating neighbor to choose a theme (or not).
What remains are some nicely decorated homes, about five — six per block, a visit from Santa with free canes (for your donation, non-​perishable food or cash), and approximately five homes, one street, and one court that really stand out with some memorable decorations.
I’m on the fence about whether the display is truly a-​ok or not, but given that I plan to try it again sometime, I’ll let the three stars do the talking.

I’m new to Salem (from Portland) we went tonight and had a wonderful time. We were there around 7:30 and it was busy but I actually enjoyed that because it gave me the opportunity to appreciate and absorb the beauty. I have seen lots of beautiful streets decked out before but never a whole neighborhood. Go Keizer! That was awesome and we are going again tomorrow with more friends so they can enjoy.

The Keizer Miracle of Christmas is a family tradition of mine.
This is such a wonderful place to enjoy Christmas lights and support the community. Food and cash donations are made at the start of the ³⁄₁₂ mile of lights. All the food and money goes to the Marion Polk Food Share. The lights are 6pm to 10pm daily. Once you start friendly Snow-​Cop barricades indicating the direction of the route. This event is held every year by the Keizer Police and the Gusbser neighborhood association.
Every house is diffencet they the next, they change them up every year. Some houses stick with the same thing but it doesn’t make it any less special.
Special Note: Crazy busy on Fridays, Christmas Eve, and Christmas. Stick to the weekdays if you don’t want to spend a few hours driving around.

currently, it’s a «miracle» if you can make it through in under 3 hours. gosh! for the love go on an off night, and later in the night. then you can make it in under ⁴⁵⁄₆₀ minutes. overall, pretty good. but if you go year in year out, it’s the same old lights and displays. make sure to bring canned food to donate! the neighborhood residents must dread this once a year fiasco. oh well. at least it’s a good thing, and in today’s world, something like this is a miracle!

Ok… reviewing a Christmas show in March feels a bit off, but thanks to Erin B. I can do so!
I really enjoyed everything about this show. The only thing that kept me giving it five stars… I wanted snow. I know, not their fault… but I would’ve given it five for that.
Nice neighborhood. Lots and lots of houses to look at. Lines of cars moves at a nice pace. Much better than Peacock Lane in PDX.
If I’m in the area in future Christmases, I’ll definitely be back to see again!
Don’t forget to bring some canned food for their food drive… it’s well worth it and we get to help feed the less fortunate!

The «Keizer Lights» (as they are widely known) are a must-​do each Christmas season. The lights, the music, the cheer – Oh My! I never miss it.
It’s free and you don’t have to get out of your car. No matter the weather, you get to stay all toasty and dry as you travel the neighborhood and stare at the unfortunate souls who are getting pummled by PGE each year. But it’s totally worth it. Well, it is for me at least.
Since the recession hit I’ve notice less and less houses participating each year. It’s too bad because because one dark house on an otherwise solidly lit street just bums me out. Get with it people!
