I can’t say enough good things about SKBJJ. Professor James and Instructor Dave are excellent teachers and really take the time to make sure you learn the technique correctly. I have been to a few different gyms and this is by far the best. So glad I joined!

Was on a business trip to Salem, OR a couple weeks ago and found this gem of a BJJ gym. Having re-started BJJ earlier this year with the associated addiction/love from a white belt, I wanted to continue learning/training while away from my gym in Southern CA. The professor wasn’t there on the day I went, but the Mrs. and the purple belt(i’m sorry I forgot your name, should’ve written this review right after I went) instructing were fantastic: positive personalities, very welcoming, and knowledgeable. There was one warm-up/movement where the purple belt told me that if I only took that home from class today, it would be great. And he was right! With all the things we get taught during instruction and having hectic lives with everything else, not being able to attend class as often as we’d like, I am guilty of not remembering the intricacies of techniques. But the movement/concept he taught has stuck with me even more so after his instruction and helps with my rolls. Thank you so much for that and the positive welcome you gave! With that, everyone I worked with was on the same page with support and positivity. The mat space is large and facility very clean. Great lineage to boot! There are so many gyms here in Southern CA, and I was very particular before picking the one i’m at now. If I lived in Salem or any of the other surrounding areas I would definitely be joining this gym. To the people I met and the purple-belt instructor… hit me up if you are ever in Southern California.

I started here about a few months ago and I can honestly say I am addicted. Professor James is a great instructor, he breaks down all the moves down step by step which makes the lessons fun enjoyable and challenging. The people in the academy are all very welcoming, there is also a sense of humbleness to the higher ranking belts which made it easier for me to join and made it feel possible to advance. Over all Brazilian Jiu-jitsu is not an easy martial art but with the people at Salem keizer BJJ they have my journey possible and a very rewarding one. Anyone looking for a new challenge I would suggest to try out Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.
