Meh. Sign on the door says«Sorry, A/C is out.» It’s a little warm inside, but not too bad, so we stayed. Service was slower than we’d expect, considering we were the only ones in the restaurant — Could be a cultural thing, not wanting to seem like they’re rushing customers. Food was okay, but not great. Greek salad dressing was a lot of oil and not much else. It tasted like cheap Italian dressing from a bottle, spiked with a bit of cardamom. Feta cheese was almost non-existent. Klamato olives were replaced with a few canned ripe olives. Gyro meat lacked flavor and was definitely not grilled on a spit, in the oven, or on a grill. Overall, the food lacked freshness & flavor. They won’t last long. They may be gone before anyone reads this review!

The one time i was here it was so hot in the restaurant… not sure if the AC was out or if that’s normal. so that made a not so good first impression. The food was just ok. the humus was not that great… and i had way better tzaziki. There are a couple of places around i get better food.

Ew. Food was gross, atmosphere was weird and staff was super rude. There’s a reason we were the only ones in this place.

My wife and I really love this place. When we’re looking for a lighter option Khaled and family never disappoint. The lentil soup is perfect. The hummus is as good as any we’ve had. Have tried most of the lamb and chicken options and they are very solid. If you have tried as many Mediterranean restaurants as we have, you quickly recognize when a place gets it right. They get it right here. This place is also great for take out!

The service was quite slow for being so empty on a Saturday lunch. The interior decorations seemed very fitting however the food was underwhelming. The gyro was nothing special however tasted pretty good but the potatoes that came with them were soggy. The lamb kebab was tough and hard to chew. The spicy chicken sandwich was most surprising of all however. The flavor was very similar to that of simply buffalo chicken but I’m unsure if that is the true intention. One memorable fact was that the fish plate was very tasty and the fish was tender.

This restaurant’s food is very authentic. In fact, It’s the first time that I have had real pita and hummus in DFW. I was in the mood for a light lunch so I had the Falafel platter and subbed the salad for the hearty lentil soup. My husband had the gyro wrap. His gyro had kalamata olives and cucumber slices. From my experience, those are rare(but yummy!) ingredients in gyros found in DFW. I’m looking forward to returning and sampling more of the menu.

I Really Expected Better. Always anxious to try new International restaurants, especially so close to home, I had to visit Cairo Mediterranean, but was underwhelmed by the food. My favorite was the Medammes appetizer, which was quite enjoyable and really increased the anticipation of the main course. However, the service was slow, which I won’t blame entirely on the restaurant, but does impact the overall impression. I got the Sinai Feast, and while I don’t expect the«Texas-Sized» portions that some restaurants pile on, I did expect more substance for a $ 15 entrée. It only included 2 – 3 small pieces of each meat, and the Lamb(which I was most looking forward to) was very tough. Being served«with a Salad» also misled, as the«Salad» was served together on the same plate as the Meat, Vegetables and Rice. The flavors were pretty good, but it was far from a «Feast», and not a great value, even if the Lamb weren’t tough. I really hope things improve, and I may try again if they stay in business, but I’m not planning a return trip anytime soon.

As I begin the new year with the resolve to eat healthier, for some reason I think Mediterranean food is «healthier.» Maybe I’m thinking of something I saw on TV, or a book review, but I have it in my mind it is a better choice. Now I suppose bad choices can still be made at a «healthy» place, but I think filling up on hummus and/or baba ganoush is better than filling up on french fries and/or onion rings. That being said, I do typically get the hummus app. Thuy leans toward the baba ganoush, and it is good, but I prefer the hummus. Served with warm pita bread, yum! I’ll usually get a gyro plate or sandwich. Yeah, I know maybe not the healthiest choice, but damn it is so good… Love the tzatziki. I’ll just walk a little extra on this day. Thuy had lamb something, kebabs was it? I do remember it was tasty. Next up is to explore the Egyptian side of the menu! Bottom line: Be sure to check out the lunch menu. It’s a good deal.

Living in the best city in the world Toronto, I have had my fair share of authentic worldly cuisine… so while visiting my parents in Keller, Tx, I came across this hidden Gem called Cairo Mediterranean Grill. With the authentic spices of Mahas Egyptian restaurant in little India village Toronto in my mind… I decided to give this restaurant a try and boyyyyy oh boyyyyy was I pleasantly surprised. My sister and I walked into the restaurant a very sweet sweet Egyptian fella approached us and took our orders. The food was freshly prepared. We ordered Egyptian Mint Tea, Beef Stew, and Sambousa(phylo pastry filled with couscous, sea food, and authentic Egyptian spices… both dishes came with side of salad and thick thick mint infused organic yogurt. The food was so authentic and delicious that for a moment I thought I was back in Toronto but the sound of «Ya’ll» brought me back to Keller, Texas :-D The prices are extremely reasonable tea was $ 3.99 and was brought out in a large kettle big enough for five people, beef stew was $ 8.99 and was enough to fill three people, and my Sambousa was nicely priced at $ 12.99. If you’re tired of eating out of a can baba ganoush at a restaurant, Drive on down to Cairo Mediterranean to taste the REAL Authentic Egyptian Cuisine… I’ll surely be back!

Literally the worst food I have ever ordered for delivery. The meals do not come with pita bread(even the gyro plate???), the amount of hummus is ridiculously small and not good, the pita bread that came with our hummus was hard and tasted burnt, the chicken shawarma also tasted burnt and was completely inedible. The meat in the stewed beef was so tough we decided to just bag it all back up and get our money back. The pictures make things look good but it is not. They should definitely check out where the gross burnt flavor is coming from and telling people about the pita issue would help as well. Overall never ordering from this place again. Café Medi doesn’t deliver but it’s worth the drive.

There were a couple of obstacles before we actually ate food from here. First was their website was down… and second their phone didn’t work. So we had to drive there to check if they were still open or if the place had closed… keep in mind it was my first time going there and my friend had eaten there before and she liked it so I wanted to try it too. Fast forward and we stop by around lunch yesterday and the place was open. We asked for a menu and went home. I had a flight to catch late last night so we weren’t sure if we were eating there or carrying out. We wanted to be prepared! Anyway we decided carry out. Again the phone wasn’t working still so we drove back over around 6:15 and I am assuming the lady that greeted us was the owner/chef kinda freaked because she was waiting for someone to open the restaurant for dinner and he wasn’t there yet. I asked how long our would take as it was for four people and we didn’t want to wait too long as we still needed to get to the airport. Long story short we placed the order she said 20 min… we ran a couple errands… returned after 30 and still waited another 10 before we got our to go order! Brought home a gyro sandwich, kefta kabaobs, lamb kabobs, shrimp kabobs, baba ganouj, cous cous salad, hot wings, and some hot sauce. Everything was good as far as flavor… however… the hot sauce was not homemade, shrimp kabobs we ice cold, and even though the wings tasted great they were super oily. Cous cous was not dressing drowned which was nice and the baba ganouj was smooth. Moving on from food the place was really cute with traditional decorations and clay color paint on the walls. Clean and the owners seem nice. Not sure if I would go back voluntarily but if someone else suggested we go… I’m all game!

Came here on a Sunday evening. Every other Mediterranean restaurant in the area closes at 9, this one was the only one that closes at 9:30 and being that it was 8:15 already, I decided to come here with my family. We got here and it was like walking into a Sauna. Restaurant was empty of any customers and took about a minute for someone from the back to come out and sit us. Our server was really bad, what’s worse is I think he was the owner. Service was bad throughout, took a long time to even place our order. We ordered the Mediterranean sampler for a shared app and the portions were very small. Hummus and Babaganush lacked any taste and the portion of the whole plate was pretty small. Our food finally came out and the taste was average at best. I’m not even comparing their food to authentic middle eastern food in the Middle East. I’m comparing it to restaurants this to other restaurants in the area, and this place deserves a pass. Would not come back.

The best authentic and freshly prepared to order, Mediterranean food. Have many memories from living close to this little gem and being able to visit it frequently with family and friends. If you can care for good quality food, that is NOT overpriced, and it is well served and made with love, give them a try.

This review is very much past due… I am certainly a regular at this point, and I cannot hold in my joy at the food that Cairo produces. Having grown up in the middle east(Dubai), I know good Arabic food when I have it. After school every day, my friends and I would saunter over to the nearest mall and have a delicious sharwarma at a very reasonable cost(~$ 0.50). Houmous, moutabahl, fattoush, fatayer… these were among the foods that I considered comfort food(the best of which is toum… a garlic paste that is INTENSE). So, when trying out Cairo for the first time, I didn’t know what to expect. I had tried several other middle eastern restaurants in the DFW area, and most of what I have had has been watered down, or greek food disguised as arabic. The owner, a friendly, soft spoken gentleman, welcomes each new diner with restrained enthusiasm, and leaves you with a fantastic menu filled with traditional dishes. Let’s start with the drinks, shall we? Other than the usual sodas that are available in every restaurant, Cairo has hibiscus tea(cold or hot… I would say get the cold during the summer and the hot in the winter), mint tea and several other beverages. I always get the mint tea, which is served in a separate tea pot with a small glass. That is important… when drinking as a local, your tea will be served in a glass, not in ceramics. Let’s move on to the appetizers. I have yet to try the full gamut of appetizers available, but have had the falafel and the houmous. The houmous is freshly prepared. If you think«Oh, like Sabra?» then prepare to weep with joy at the warm, freshly blended houmous that is served to you with warm slices of pita bread. The houmous itself is nutty(as you can taste the chickpeas/garbanzo), and just plain incredible. Thankfully, the houmous is served with most of the main dishes. The main dishes are varied and once again, flavorful. If you want to be healthy, get the grilled chicken kebabs with rice and salad. While most kebabs are a little dried out, the chicken is moist, soft and oh so fresh. A perfect combination with the rice and salad. The bastela is an unusual dish, a pastry made with chicken, spices and then covered in powdered sugar and cinnamon. Your mouth certainly feels confused at first, but it works. If the powdered sugar and cinnamon freaks you out, they have the same dish without those two ingredients. All of the kebabs are amazing, and you cannot go wrong with them. The only dessert I’ve tried is the baklava. Crispy, gooey and FILLED with honey and pistachios, the baklava is perfect. Final note: this family-run restaurant is filled with heart. Delicious food, excellent service(although be prepared to wait as each dish is made at time of order), and a tendency to go above and beyond makes Cairo Mediterranean Grill one of my all time favorite restaurants. Do not punish your taste buds and your stomach by avoiding this restaurant. Come here, and come often. It’s worth the drive. PS: During my last conversation with the owner, he mentioned that they would be starting a lunch buffet soon

Can’t find food this good in Egypt itself. This place might not look so fancy or occupy a strategic location. But, this is the place to go for home cooked food made with premium ingredients. This food is made with love. Attention is paid to every detail. I had the baked beef and it was outstanding. The quality of the beef, the cuts used, the removal of any fat or unwanted parts of the beef. Those are things you only find in home cooked meals. Amazing change and break from the commercial cooking done by non-authentic cooks around town. This is as good as it gets. Enjoy it, savor it, love it. As an added bonus the prices here are very low I paid $ 6.99 for the best lunch I’ve had thus far this year.

We tried this place out on a snowy day and it was an absolute ghost town due to weather/road conditions. Texas pretty much shuts down the moment a snowflake starts it’s descent to earth. The owner was the cook, and server(husband and wife). I love places like that. I’m going to skip right to the food here, and… THEFOODISCRAZYYUMMY! Our server, the owner, was welcoming, kind and very patient. Never having tried Egyptian food before, the owner helped us select some Egyptian favorites, a first for us all around! We couldn’t shy away from the more traditional Mediterranean sampler platter of appetizers though. You shouldn’t either. It’s all delicious! From first bite, you can easily taste that everything is fresh and made from scratch. I’ve since learned that everything on the menu is from the owner’s mother’s cookbook from back in Egypt. All hand selected to please, for even the most critical palate. We ordered appetizers, and lunch(dinner entrees though), and loved every single bite. Even the kids ate pretty well, which says something for our most finicky children. In all honesty though, upon walking in, I was a promptly turned off. Although the atmosphere is warm and friendly, the restaurant interior smelled stale and old. The lighting isn’t very inviting, and overall, the décor/facility needs a spring cleaning. Now I must remind you, our visit was on a snowy day, so the reason we likely didn’t smell food upon arrival, is a direct reflection of the slow door swings for the day due to the icy/snowy road conditions. So, was the delicious food and wonderful service enough to sway us? Sadly, no. I badly want to love Cairo, but it’s still a Mehhhh for me. I just couldn’t get past the atmosphere. I did adore the owners though, and I think if for any reason, they are the reason we’ll go back. Something of note, the owners have decorated a super cool area for a private group that requires advance reservation(seating for 8 ish?).

Another fantastic meal ! The Turkish coffee is my husbands favorite coffee. A note to us who are not that into coffee — it is very strong. This is a family owned and operated business. All freshly made creations will take you to Egypt. Lovely family!

I had the Mousaka and the Babba Ganoush. Both good, pita bread a little floppy. The Mousaka also seemed really tender and all the ingredients kind of formed one big mush. Don’t know if I loved that, still tasty though. Service from the lone waiter was great… really friendly. Prices reasonable too. I wish it was more popular… I’d hate to see them close their doors. Its next door to the Hawaiian place too so you can choose what you want at the last minute.
