I worked out at this gym since the beginning, went through all the ownership changes. I left last August and moved to IMPACTFITNESS in Southlake and love it! I was upset with the lack of communication with the manager, who I had known for years and actually had a nice relationship with her until I complained about the cleanliness of the gym. Owner took her side when my trainer asked him to speak to me as I was a $ 250.00 to $ 400.00 a month member. Neither he or she cared that I left.

I’ve had my membership at this location for two years. About one month ago I decided to try a personal trainer. During my conversation with the trainer another joined us. Both knew I was talking about trying a personal trainer for one month. I was concerned about taking time off for travel since I knew I was going to be gone so much this summer. The man said I had three months to use it so there would be no problem. At NO time was it mentioned or discussed that I was signing up for three months. Yes, I did sign a contract and, unfortunately, I trusted the people I was talking to… big, big mistake. I should have read the contract rather than take their word. I feel I was lied to to get me into a three month contract. To add insult to injury I was not given a copy of the contract. I wasn’t aware of the three months until they charged my credit card. Will I ever sign with them again… absolutely not. I feel I was lied to and, quite frankly, because they knew from my questions I was thinking I was signing up for one month I have totally lost trust in this organization. Would I have signed up for more personal training. Yes, I even talked to my trainer about going for more. Now, after all this, I haven’t been able to force myself to go back. It isn’t about the money… it’s about being lied to and losing trust.

Regarding Mr. Griffin’s response: 1. I have my original contract with American Family Gym and can prove that my contact information was provided — they did NOT attempt to notify me. 2. When I contacted them yesterday, NO one offered me a 30 day trial offer(not that I would accept it). 3. Most importantly, since the ownership change took place several months ago, why does the billing to my credit card still show American Family Gym and NOT Griffin Fitness? This is fraudulent and I will report this to the BBB and Attorney General’s Office. 4. Too bad the ‘manager’ Tiffany told me it was ‘just fine’ for me to complain online rather than try to assist me.
