Golden Chick-Golden Triangle

I was waffling between a three and a four on this one. A-​OK fits. I think here I consider the price, and what it’s trying to do. I’m from N.C. and there is no Golden Chick there, as far as I know. My daughter and I ordered the four piece chicken strips meal, hers with battered fries and mine with fried okra.
I like the chicken; it was decent, hot and crispy. I like the white gravy that comes with it, and the hot roll was fresh and good with a little butter I asked for. They have a spicy chicken, but I’m not that impressed with it. To be honest, I was wishing I’d brought my shaker of Bojangles seasoning I’d bought in N.C.
There is a good choice of sides with these meals, and my daughter declared the fries to be «perfect.» I wish I could say the same for the okra. It was hot and plentiful, but I’m pretty sure it had been cooked once, allowed to get old, then fried again. It was so chewy, I probably should have asked for something else. I’ve had okra here before, and it’s good when it’s fresh. I’d advise them to cook this to order.
Along with the plentiful food, you get a huge drink cup, and they have «kibbled» ice and Pepsi products (my favorite). For those who eat inside there’s free ice cream – if you’re hungry enough to eat it.
The place really lacks in ambiance, with the typical fast food décor, but it was clean, and there were plenty of places to sit. The service was friendly, and I didn’t have to tip. I know we’ll be eating there a lot.

Golden Chick has really good roasted chicken, along with fried catfish, and several sides. I highly recommend then when you want fast food chicken.

A cup of water, .39 cents, seriously. Spent $ 25 on 8 pieces of chicken and instant mashed potatoes, won’t be back on principle alone.

The mild chicken tenders are a bit plain, the spicy just has some cayenne seasoning on it, but makes it taste much better. The Mac and cheese is pretty tasteless… could use some of that seasoning! The roll was the best I’ve had in a while, though. Friendly girl at the counter and fast service.
