I am not an Ohio wine drinker, way too sweet. Was hoping they would have a dessert ice wine we could take home for a friend but did not find that here either. What I will say is they had the best food on the island, from the places we visited. We were kind of relieved. We did go on some off days where a lot of places were closed or closing early, but we were happy with the food and service here. The mussels and beet salad were great. Finally an island salad that wasn’t all head lettuce and yellow cheese! Service was friendly as well. Will come back here next summer.

The pesto pizza was really good. The muscles were out of this world. If you get the muscles and you like wheat beer get the catawba whit. It goes great with them. We did see a bunch of drunk 20 somethings that wanted to tell everyone their life story and how no one understood how hard they worked. I guess that is par for the course in Kelly’s Island.

I love this place! They have great weekly specials, awesome wine, and great outdoor seating. ALSO A BRANDNEWTEQUILABAR they opened just this summer! A must see when visiting Kelleys Island! :-)

This is a great place to enjoy a relaxing afternoon. Definitely family-friendly! My husband and I love to sit out on the porch or at one of the picnic tables in the yard, drink some sangria, have a little food and play some horseshoes! They have wonderful pizza and were so accommodating when I told them I am vegan. Thanks guys for the great service!

Terrible service. We biked from the other side of the island with the intention of getting food and wine there and being there for awhile. We sat down at a table and probably sat there 25 minutes with no service, despite seeing two servers walk by us. 10 minutes in, we even went to the front to let someone know we hadn’t gotten service yet. After sitting there for 25 minutes, we left.

First of all, as a Californian(and former Ohioan), I am extremely picky about wine. Ohio wine is not for everyone. That being said, it is drinkable — a fun aside from the normal complexities that govern our local varieties. Now as a mother of a young child, this place is awesome! We went in early July and had a fun time. I love wineries with noise and people, and this one fits the bill — animals and horshoes out back, lots of picnic tables. The food was fine, and they do have other alcohol besides wine. You will pay resort prices, but it’s a vacation location after all :-)

Interesting place, difficult to review. It can be very slow one moment and very busy the next. Locally produced wines, but not all are available at all times. I do not like Ohio wines(too sweet for my taste) but these are not bad. Limited menu items. There are some highlights, however. The pizzas are probably the best on the island, and the baked potato pizza is simply amazing. Very heavy and filling, but great. The mussels are very good, along with the sauce. The beets and goat cheese salad is great. Washing this down with the sangria is a good idea — really addicting drink. Service is friendly but you might have to give your order to the bartender, who will bring the food to your table. Nice place, worth a trip.

Great atmosphere outside. Though the wine is generally forgettable, this is a regular Kelleys stop for me. Maybe that’s because it’s so cheap that you can drink enough to forget it. Joking aside, the least-sweet wines are perfectly potable. The sugar-juice wines are to be consumed at your own risk. As mentioned, the prices are low enough that you shouldn’t expect too much. Food is OK and reasonable. I get a bottle of the driest white and nosh on some snacks, and always enjoy it.

We have been here twice & had a great experience both times! The food, wine & service were all great. We enjoyed the cheese plate & pizza. Their pizza is the best food we have had on the island so far.

Could be good, but is so so dirty! Also, the inside corner has a very distinct urine smell. The men’s restroom is a horror show. If you go, stay outside, and only drink wine.

I’ve been spending my summers on KI now for almost 15 years. I was introduced to these island excursions early on in my undergraduate years by good friends who frequently brought their boat across the lake. Once you touch ground, time instantly begins to slow down. Whatever troubles you had were magically left behind on mainland. You know that you are in for an extended weekend of pure relaxation and enjoyment. Part of the charm of Kelleys is that things tend to occur in a habitual manner. There’s a place to be at each hour and a very specific order in which to do it. You’ll notice the crowd on the island follow this pattern on almost every visit. On summer afternoons, shortly after lunch, or on autumn days after the football game, the winery is the place to be. I’m not going to pretend that this is a Napa Valley establishment or even an Ohio Amish country institution, but it does serve its purposes quite well. Regardless of your alcoholic beverage of choice, it is meant to be enjoyed while playing a soothing game of horseshoes or interspersed among sets of volleyball among good friends. Personally, I tend to stick with the Sunset Pink or sangria. Both are actually decent and blend quite well with many of the winery’s offerings. Don’t forget to throw in a cheese/meat platter and you have yourself the ingredients to a calm afternoon. Hope to see you there. Don’t hesitate to join in on volleyball or horseshoes. Everyone is a friend on KI.

Great Lake Erie-area style wine – sweet and grapey! Don’t expect good dry reds, or barely any dry whites. The winery/restaurant has the best pizza on the island, great sangria, and a great location. Also, their wines aren’t bad. Great outdoor porch area, bean bag toss/corn hole games, etc. Highly recommended!

I had been here several years before and was not impressed at all. BUT, my recent visit to the island has changed my mind. Don’t get me wrong — this is no Napa Valley but the grounds are perfect for sitting and picnicking, letting the kids play on the playground, with the horseshoes, etc. The inside — is what it is – bar and restaurant — not a real winery feel. As far as their wine — the Glacial White is the only one I prefer. In years past I thought all their wine was terrible so this was a pleasant surprise. Their food? I only got a cheese plate but for $ 21 you get a pretty good serving of three types of cheese with a loaf of bread and apples. All in all, this is a good option to the downtown scene and if you have kids and want a place to hang out and enjoy a cocktail head that way.

Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehk.(Combination of Meh/Eek!) I really, really wish for a good Lake Erie Island Winery. I have yet to find one. This one has decent ambiance — but ONLY if you’re sitting outside. Inside? Well, it’s like a cross between a pizza parlor and your douchey, frat boy cousin’s basement. Service is pretty atrocious to be completely honest. This place was busy for maybe an hour on Saturday. The«servers» were running around like idiots and huffing and puffing and whining. After that hour — ghost town. Yet we still had to come inside and basically serve ourselves… and don’t even get me started on how overpriced their food is. $ 22 for walleye — and it’s served on a plastic plate with throwaway utensils. And you have to go inside, wait, and pick up your order yourself. RIDICULOUS. The food didn’t taste as good as it should have at that price point either. Don’t eat here. If you like sweet wine, you’ll probably love this place.

I’ve only been here during Island Fest(and it was PACKED), so I can’t really say anything about the service or food. I had an interesting sangria-type Canadian wine that was actually pretty good. I also had one of the Ohio wines that tasted a bit barfish. I like their patio. I appreciate their central-of-the-island location — it’s a nice alternative to being downtown. In all: Careful about the wines you get here. Definitely purchase by the glass, not by the bottle.

Bottom Line: Good wine, worth the stop. Didn’t try the food. We did not eat here, we only stopped to try the wine, and let our son play on the little slides they had setup outside. We started out getting the wine sampler thinking we would buy 1 bottle of whatever we liked the best as a gift. We ended up getting 3 bottles, one for a gift and 2 for ourselves. This isn’t the best wine I’ve ever had but it is very good and reasonably priced. Also, the descriptions they have listed are spot on. If you go here, read the descriptions and think about the kind of wine you usually like and what it is closest too. If you do you will really like what you get.

Tried to get service, but was ignored by the the staff. Stood @ the bar w/spouse and son and the female server didn’t acknowledge us, look @ us or attempt to give us a menu. She seemed to be only to focus on 2 people @ a time. Too bad, looks like there are trying to be a bar with other wines and alcohol behind the bar. I wouldn’t give them the time of day!

Good selection of island wine and a very interesting menu. Specialty sandwiches, pizza, cheese and fruit trays, etc. A pleasant and refreshing stop.
