West Bay Inn

Oh I want to like this place. Great location, has so much potential. But the reviews are right… it’s awful. Service is terrible, food is mediocre at best, bar selections lacking. How do they stay in business? Location location location. Move along people, nothing to see here.

Terrible service. Terrible food. VERY VERY unfriendly staff. They made me feel like they were doing me a huge favor by serving me. Stay away all. Not worth it.

Even with a free dock, this place isn’t worth a stop. Last year it really took a turn for the worse. The food stinks, the management and employees hang out and drink there, and the bands are terrible. I would give it 1 star if it were not for the good view.

Went here about a month ago. The view is nice, the food is TERRIBLE! How can any lakeside restaurant screw up fish? The coleslaw, fries — also yuck! Decent waitstaff and drinks were fine. It ranks below Long John Silver for quality, sorry to say.

Terrible food unless you like frozen food from GFS. We had a party of 7 and each of our meals fell way short. The nachos were cold, the chowder was luke warm, and the cocktail shrimp were flavorless. My wife saw the bbq grill and ordered the chicken kabobs. The chicken was dry. She thinks it was pre cooked and warmed on the grill. Better places on the island.
Atmosphere and view were great

This is a nice location for a restaurant. The service was mediocre. Baked potatoes came with our meals. We sent them back because they were hard as a rock. We were asked if we wanted them heated in the microwave or fries. My husband ordered french fries. Our meals were dried out and obviously over cooked. When the potatoes came back they were still hard as rocks. The fries were forgotten. We sent them back and asked for the check. After we got my handicapped mother in the car, my husband went to complain to the manager who was no where to be found. Avoid this restaurant.

I don’t drink alcohol so when the hostess found this out service was over. The waitress proceeded to our table of me with 3 of our teen aged boys with a frown. You could tell she already was informed we weren’t drinkers. We all ordered the ½ pound Angus burgers which came out looking like large glorified soy burgers from the school cafeteria. These made McDonalds reg. burgers taste like a juicy gourmet treat. Baskets of fries were good. View is good. Service is not. Well it was for the six 70’s olds out on an afternoon pub crawl. They were greeted and sent off with a hoopla of smiles. It was a short trip and I’m sad to have wasted a meal on this restaurant.

Dont waste your money here! Menu is poor. Salad had only lettuce, No veggies. Only plastic silverware. The wings were small and fatty. The service was poor to boot!

I’m pretty sure the majority of patrons are here just for the sunset or the live music! The food and drinks are underwhelming. Our party ordered an assortment of main dishes (fried perch sandwich, cheeseburger, grilled chicken sandwich, grilled chicken salad, etc.). The grilled chicken salad looks like the best bet re: food quality. My aunt said she liked her perch sandwich, but my mom said hers wasn’t good. My husband and I shared a cheeseburger and both felt unwell throughout the evening. No beers on tap, $ 3 for Miller Lite cans, $ 4 for domestic bottles, etc. Maybe next time just tailgate in the parking lot for the sunset and then head elsewhere for more tasty food and drink?

Waited for a table… had to bus our table and wipe it down. Servers walked past us for about 15 minutes or more never acknowledged us.
Server was less than friendly… we stopped her and she was rude and said she was busy. After more than 20 minutes we ordered food. I got hamburger. (black angus) was nothing special. Spinach artichoke dip was terrible. Very disappointed with this experience. These tourist spots need to step it up… i am embarrassed we took friends from out of state there… wont see my boat there again…

It’s quite a way out from town, but each time I’ve been to West Bay, I’ve had a good time.
Bathrooms are located INSIDE (waiter service). Bar/​patio OUTSIDE has a stage for the occasional band or DJ. Volleyball court located in yard across from bar.
Great bar service — I’ve never been disappointed there.
Pizza is just «OK.» Food is just «OK.»
They used to roast a pig or chicken for weekend specials, but I’m unsure if they still do that.

This was the first place I’ve ever visited on Kelleys Island and a lot of pitchers of frozen vodka lemonade later, I decided to quit my day job and work here.
You’ll have a blast here any day of the summer if you like being surrounded by drunk women doing the ‘mom dance’. Lake right across the street and a good fun atmosphere. Bands playing all the time and weekend specials such as roasted chicken or a pig roast if that’s your thing.
A bit far from the downtown area, but island ride taxi will take you where you need to go for a mere $ 4. There’s a more relaxed indoor seating area where you’d probably want to take the children. Although, children are not really welcome here, sorry parents.
