12 months ago hired these guys to fix my GE fridge/freezer that was leaking. They promptly fixed the issue and charged me $ 350 for parts and labor. I thought it was a bit much but I paid it and have been happy with the repair. Recently the same thing started happening again so I called them again to fix the issue. The technician spent all of 3 minutes to diagnose the problem(a frozen drain tube) and quote me $ 350 to take apart the freezer and defrost the drain tube. This time, there was only labor no parts required. I questioned the technician(later I found out he was the owner) why it was so much especially considering there were no parts. His response was that it was a $ 10,000 refrigerator so it costs more to fix. I was very skeptical at this point. I told him that I was not interested in them fixing it and that I could defrost a drain tube myself. In response he rudely said«well you owe me $ 90 for service call». I told him that $ 90 for all of 5 minutes of his time was unreasonable especially considering they«fixed» the issue a year earlier. A heated argument ensued and I asked him to leave our house. Later that day I removed the contents of our freezer and unplugged it for a few hours to defrost it. A decent amount of water came out. I wiped it up, put the food back in and plugged it in. The problem is fixed now. Not only did I feel like the guy was trying to hose me but he was so crass, rude and… well really sketchy looking. My advice… don’t let these people in your house or buy anything from them.

These people have been shady and difficult to deal with. I purchased a washing machine from Appliance Express about a month and a half ago. All seemed well, deliver driver was kind of a douche, but whatever. Washer worked, clean clothes, yay. Suddenly about two weeks ago, my machine stopped spinning. Google suggested the lid switch. We removed the lid switch to discover that the part was broken and a hair elastic had been wrapped around it in order to bypass the safety switch. Basically, the washing machine thought the lid was always closed, so it was able to spin while the lid was open. The reason that it had suddenly stopped working is that that hair elastic was getting worn out, causing the switch to move out of the correct position to be bypassed. But WAIT!!! Doesn’t Appliance Express boast about this 16(or some other arbitrary number, because the person I talked to at the store said 18) point inspection? Let’s check their website real quick…
Oh my! Is this a Geocities page? «16 Point Inspection… Buy with the sense of security knowing all our appliances have went through our 16 point inspection process before they are put on our showroom floor!» Hmm… Oh, look, number ten is LIDSWITCHES! How would that lid switch, broken and twisted up with a hair tie, possibly have passed any kind of safety inspection?! I went directly to the store the next day, because apparently they only have one phone line and it is jammed up constantly. The only person available to speak to seemed to be the person that delivered my washing machine. Joy. He was on the phone, it actually sounded like an unhappy customer that had just bought a washing machine that wasn’t working. He was short with the customer and seemed to try very hard to quickly end the call. I explained that I had purchased a washer about a month prior and asked if he could pull out of my paperwork. He thumbed through a few invoices on the desk, then went into a large filing cabinet that was not organized at all and simply had piles of papers at the bottom of the drawer, thumbed through a few invoices then said, «Why, is there a problem with the machine?» and I said yes. I explained the situation with the switch being bypassed and mentioned that I do have two small children and it is extremely hazardous to sell rigged appliances like this. This man called the owner(I’m assuming), and the owner basically told him to take down my info and they will call me to set up a time to come and fix the switch. I gave him my information and we continued to chat about the washer. Suddenly, he had an epiphany or something because he said he actually remembers that washer and it’s strange rigged lid switch. He claimed that the elastic was holding the switch together. No sir, definitely bypassing the safety, but sure whatever, at least you guys realize you made a mistake and that should not have been sold like that. He told me that someone would call tomorrow(Friday) to set up the repair. Friday came and went with no calls, but I was busy so I let it go. Saturday, no calls, Sunday, I don’t think they’re open. Finally, Monday they called and said they would be here on Thursday(3⁄19) afternoon to repair the washer. I shouldn’t be surprised, but I am. They didn’t show up. Because these people have already proven to be very shady, my boyfriend insisted on leaving work early to be here for the repair, and that lost us almost a half day’s pay because of the vague time of «Thursday afternoon.» My next step will be to file a complaint with the BBB about the false advertising of the 16 point inspection and selling dangerous appliances. DONOTGOHERE unless you want to deal with some real shady people selling shady appliances!!!

today businesses are so corporate, so black and white. yet most of the real life problem’s lie somewhere in the gray areas. that is exactly why a family run company like these guy’s are a welcomed sight by me! they may not be the cheapest option.(I shopped them around) but I am willing to pay a price for a premium service. friendly, prompt, professional service is exactly what I got. they provided a 5 year warranty on all parts and labor. now that’s a service provider I can be confident in. oh and i can understand the friendly girl on the phone. yay! my washing machine is working as it did the day I purchased it. and my $ 280.00 repair was a lot nicer than the $ 975.00 I bought a new one for, plus one less machine in the landfill. so I still feel like I’m being responsible to my community without sacrificing quality of washing. this is what I bought the best washer money could buy in the first place right? so I’d have it for many years to come. a great experience from start to finish! bravo! great customer service still exists…
