The hostess at the front door was not nice. The 4 meals we ordered were average at best and very expensive. The service was terrible. There are so many nice places to eat and have a drink in Kennebunkport and other places are happy to have you. Federal Jacks people act as if they are doing you a favor. For the money you spend at Federal Jacks you can go to a nice restaurant with nice people and get a nice dining experience. I will never go back to Federal Jacks.

Food not good. Mixed drinks weak and service not there. Go somewhere else unless you are looking for beer

I was very impressed with my waitstaff and the food, but some of the policies are ridiculous. I went in with a group of friends of who consist of multiple ages ranges(Some 21+ others not) I called ahead of time to make sure this wouldn’t be a problem. After a frustrating phone conversation I was assured this wouldn’t be a problem. We were going specifically to see the band that started at 10:30. After ordering our food someone came over and informed us of the policy. They were not willing to listen or explain. It was frustrating that we were the least rowdy group in the place and none of us were drinking yet we were forced to leave. If you are going to have unrealistic polices the people answering the phones should at least be aware of them. I don’t plan on going back anytime soon, next time try not to upset the locals.

The service at the door is awful, the«door boys» cost that business about 70 patrons who are in town for a family wedding. They are condescending young boys who obviously have a chip on their shoulder about tourists. Unfortunately my family lives here and owns a small business in Kennebunk. I will never be back and neither will my family. Not like the food is any good anyway… only thing that is decent is the beer.

Have been going here for 10 years… always love the atmosphere & rotating beers! We always bring friends visiting from out of town; then walk through beautiful Kennebunkport. Service has been a little slow lately — but hopefully, it’s just time to adjust for the busy season.

Had a great Friendly waitress. She was so accommodating! Special request didn’t bother her in the least. What nudged me a little was we ordered the calamari, lacked salt, and asked for marinara on the side, and it was a extra 99 cents, really? Also ordered the whole belly clams, they were very good but very small portion for 11.99. Had the New England chowder. That was very good. My husband had the lobster bisque. Not sure if was worth 11.99. Entrees were the haddock, with frozen veggies, and rice, and the scampi with grilled chicken. It was alright, would go back for the food. The beer on the other hand was great! Great selection! Loved the sampler. It must be nice during the summer months with the outside deck.

The fried Clams are the best I have ever had. If you are looking for a light but filling sandwich I would suggest the lamb gyro burger. It was incredible and it will be hard for me to not order both of things very time I come back to this place. The waitress had a case of «tunnel vision» so she was a bit slow and running around with her head cut off. Considering it was a buffet brunch that most people were doing I can’t imagine that she should look that busy. She also forgot to give us a drink we ordered so we decided we didn’t want it anymore.

Warm Sunday afternoon, the restaurant was not very busy. We ordered drinks, the waitress took forever to place the order. We ordered a sandwich and salad . The salad was not dressed, the sandwich was ok. Waitress never asked or came to table until we we almost done, Overall, mediocre service and food.

The beer is what keeps this place going. The wait staff is not very friendly. Actually, the people downstairs in the gift shop are MUCH more friendly. When we ordered our beers the waitress asks for IDs, which is normal and I completely respect. However, she barked at my boyfriend«out of state. Young. Another ID or no drink» Luckily he had his military ID on him to give to her. I did not have another photo ID and was denied a drink. They have a sign about this outside. I understand the policy and did not mind drinking water instead of a beer, but she could have been nicer about it.

The food is nothing special, but the beer is amazing! Federal Jack’s brews their beers on site, and they brew the Shipyard brand, some Sea Dog, and Kennebunkport Brewing Company. I love coming here in the fall and ordering the Pumpkinhead beer with a cinnamon — sugar rim. If you’ve never had it, you have to try it! In the spring and summer you can get blueberry beer and other fruity flavors which are all super tasty but not too sweet! The bar area is large and there are tvs throughout, so it is the perfect place to watch a sports game while enjoying a nice, cold, fresh and delicious beer! Another bonus is the beer is super cheap– $ 4 a glass!

Home of the Shipyard brand. This place is located in very busty Kennebunk where people brings their wallets. Federal Jack’s owns their building to themselves and the best prime real estate a business could ever need right at the harbor. Inside seats like a normal restaurant pub, while seating galore awaits outside for the busy summertime crowds. The rotation of beer they keep is delicious, IPAs, Ales, Porters. Most batches sold upstairs can be found to take home in their gift shop downstairs. Why I only return for the gift shop beer is because I don’t want to spend Kennebunk money on sub par food. When your sides come out of a frozen bag, and potentially some of your main course food, I feel like I shouldn’t have to throw twenty bucks for my plate of grocery story freezer isle crap. But it helps to be know as «Home of» in beautiful Kennebunk.

We went last week for lunch on a 73 degree, bluebird day. Hostess, who failed to smile, said that there was no seating outside other than the railing. If it were just us, I would’ve said yes, but we had our 6 month old daughter. I find it hard to believe that on a perfect September day you would close the patio that looks out on the wharf… The inside was like an old folks home with very little atmosphere. The staff didn’t make it better as I saw ZERO smiles. The food runner just dropped off the food and didn’t ask if there was anything else we needed — that is food running 101 in my book. The food was just OK, came out very fast. My wife had the crab sandwich which was more like a heavy mayo tuna sandwich. I had the tacos which were tasty, but could’ve used more than 3 ingredients. Glad we went as we have talked about going all summer but will not be back anytime soon. Note to the manager — get some people that actually want to work and enjoy it. Not just people who need a job. If the service was better from start to finish, I could overlook the lackluster food.

The place is a huge and super loud«formula» restaurant, that is «Red Lobster like». Very good martini and wine. I had the lobster that the waitress claimed was 1 ½ pounds, so the extra $ 8 over the price of the 1 ¼ pound one in the Chart Room seemed reasonable. We had the mussels and were a bit disappointed in the small size of them. Why are mussels so microscopic in Maine? They are about ½ the size of PEI mussels. My dinner companion’s monk fish was not great either. The biggest problem I had was when I got the bill and saw that I was served a 1 ¼ pound lobster, not a 1 ½ pounder. There is only one lobster dish on the menu, so I just assumed they need to educate the staff better. Didn’t bother to complain since I will never be there again.

Get the crab and Havarti melt. Do not even think about ordering anything else. Be happy, content and satisfied. Make everyone else jealous.

The food is terrible. They claim its all fresh and not frozen but you could fool me. Eat outside at the clam shack for the same price. The fried clams were super chewy. My blackened fish tacos literally had no flavor at all. The aioli was runny. The fries were good but you can tell they were bought frozen then fried. The beers are very poor, so if you’re craft fan, don’t come. On a positive side, all the servers were SUPER friendly. Decent view of the harbor. Under no circumstance would I be back, or recommend this expensive poorly executed tourist trap.

We never got to see if we even liked this place. It was a gorgeous night at 845 when we arrived. We wanted to sit outside but were told that the outside closes at 830. I really wanted to try this place so I was ok with being put inside. There were several tables available with a good view that I was looking at. We ended up waiting at the hostess stand for 10 minutes until we were then led around the bar area and seated at a booth in the corner with ZERO view… I was SO unhappy. I thought, no way we came all the way up to Maine for a vacation and are going to sit in the corner of a bar area. I can do that at home! We walked out and went to have an awesome dinner at Pilot House… the atmosphere at pilot house wasn’t amazing but we got sat outside and the food ROCKED.

A fun local bar nestled right on the water in Kennebunkport. The best time of year to come is obviously in the summer when the large deck is open, but I’ve been all times of the year and it’s always a great time. Large bar inside, plenty of seating, friendly bartenders. Lots of beers to choose from on draft! I recommend trying to snag a pool table for $ 1 and then playing the various arcade games they have(Pac Man, Buckhunter). Their lunches are pretty good, nothing amazing but still fresh seafood which I will never complain about!

Let’s be totally frank: the food here is just okay. We had… Basic Burger($ 9.99) — burger with american cheese: About as unmemorable as you can get regarding a burger, the side of rice looked dry and unappetizing. Grilled Caprese Sandwich(9.99) — fresh mozzarella, vine ripened tomato and pistachio pesto on artisan wheat bread: unfortunately, there was about a half inch to one inch from the crust inward that had ABSOLUTELYNOTHING on it. So it’s definitely not worth the price tag or even getting again, since it’s so underwhelming(which is shocking, because I thought the pistachio pesto would really pack a punch). The accompanying side of cole slaw was bland. Veggie Burger(9.99) — a homemade veggie burger served in a warmed naan with fresh greens, feta, tomato and tzatziki: as far as homemade veggie burgers go, this one was pretty awesome! And that they accompany it with Mediterranean flavors? Brilliant!!! The flavors all compliment each other just perfectly, and if you ask they’ll cook your veggie burger in a separate pan away from the meat(ordinarily they DO cook it on the same grill as the burgers, FYI). The accompanying side of mashed potatoes though were tremendously under-seasoned and unexpectedly chunky. Hummus and Naan(7.99) — hummus drizzled with roasted garlic oil, chickpea olive tapenade, and naan: THIS. WAS. DELICIOUS. If you like unprocessed hummus,(really like the astringecy of) garlic, and subtle hints of olives… you will love this. I am so happy someone at my table got this, and encouraged me to finish it for them. Probably one of the best hummus’ I’ve had store– or restaurant-bought. So, ordinarily, I would give this place a three star rating. But the customer service here? Some of THEBEST I’ve ever had anywhere. Each person in my party had dietary restrictions: one of us had GERD, three of us were vegetarians, and one of us was gluten-free. I also implied that I was allergic to fish… I am not, and I’m sorry I fibbed to them, but I really wanted a bloody mary. And — of course — they make their homemade bloody mary mix in a batch each morning and it includes anchovy-filled Worcestershire sauce. The server, though — without me asking — took it upon herself to check with the bar to see if they’d make me a fresh drink from scratch sans Worcestershire. They did and only charged me $ 5 or $ 6 for it. Was it the best bloody mary I’ve ever had? No… but that they willingly made me one when soooooooooo many places in Maine wouldn’t have? Impressive and appreciated. The server — taking my fake shellfish allergy VERY seriously — also let me know that EVERYTHING fried here is done so in the SAME oil: the chicken tenders, the fish, the french fries, the onion rings, even the tortilla chips(meaning the last three are NOT safe for plant-based diets). Knowing this altered everything my vegetarian boyfriend and I were going to order, and our server was very, VERY, VERRRRRRRRRRYYYYYY patient with he and I as we hemmed and hawed, order then reordered frequently. From what I hear from my parents who frequent here, the service is ALWAYS like this, too. So, yes, I’m a fan… specifically of the outstanding, above and beyond exceptional customer service we received here from the beginning to the end of our meal.
